huh, Ardent, I was shopping for an excellent keeper with some experience lately and from what I remember, Neto has weak experience and gave you quite a few 4 stars matches, from his supporter stats... Well, I would think this is about the going price for a keeper with that experience right now...

I ended up buying this fellow:

His value is only 587k U$ and I paid 919k U$ for him, but he gave me 4 stars in his first match with my team and boosted my defense ratings from solid/solid/solid to formidable/excellent/excellent, and even though a tiny part of the boost came from one of my defenders increasing his form, this is a very nice boost...

My opinion is that you made a mistake in selling Neto. You will miss him...

I don't think I will necessarily. I am going to lose most, if not all my games this season. I've got a mid solid keeper already who is just a few weeks behind Neto.

The difference in sale? Quite a bit.

The difference in level? Not as great.

Hmm, I sold a solid+0 keeper on Sunday and I didn't get any more than market for him (maybe even a hair low), and there was almost no action. Can't complain, as I booked a $60k daytraining profit on the transaction, but still...

Yeah, I know he's only a few weeks from being an excellent keeper, but it's his disastrous experience you will feel the most...

My former keeper was a mid-solid, like yours, maybe even a bit better as he was valued at 400k when I pulled him. So technically, in value, he was very close to my curent keeper, who's only valued at 587k, but has inadequate experience, which doesn't show on the value, but on his ratings on the field...

While many will say that stars are evil, I think that since a keeper has only one skill working for him (with form) the stars rating represent well how a keeper is performing. Well, my former keeper, in all of 26 games played for my team, gave me only 5 games of 3.5 stars, and that was in high solid form. Compare that to the 4 stars my new keeper just gave me, in passable form, and there's a world of difference...

Yeah, you may not need him since you think you'll lose most of your games, all I was saying is don't go in there thinking the mid-solid will do just the same, it probably won't in the long run. May do for now, especially since Neto was in weak form, but the new keeper's performance won't come close to Neto, even though on the surface, he's only a few weeks from excellent keeper...

Point taken...and it's not like this is a permanent change. I figured that while I had the opportunity, I could convert my keeper into cash, let it fester in the bank a while, and maybe pull out a formidable or higher in the offseason. I also sold Matt Worrall, who unbelievably was an odd man out as an excellent playmaker in my midfield.

Feels good to finally say something like that.

Not funny. My wife stands a very good chance of getting auto-promoted this season. I'm sitting 2 points out of 1st, but I don't play the leader any more this season. So I need some help or I remain in Div V.

I'm seeing the Swiss bid up the price on my excellent stamina, passable MF player right now. I listed at $45,000 and he's had had two bids (total 3) so far this morning.

Looks like desparate lower league managers trying to hang on from demoting to VIII. That's what I hoped for.

FrogMan I got almost the same exact keeper for around $875K and I'm cpmpletely happy. He puts up the same stars as a formidable keeper with disastorous experience so I feel like I save over $500k getting him instead. And he's a future coach.

Kevin, I actually should have given you credit in there somewhere because your buy is what gave me the idea of the high experience, yet "only" excellent keeper... :) Really, once I sold my first formidable playmaker, for a luck 1.1mill, I didn't have enough for a formidable, but just enough for an excellent with excellent with experience. IIRC, yours is 22, mine is 23, amazingly young to already have inadequate experience...

Seeing how TonyR just sold a formidable for 1.9mill, it reinforces my happiness of buying that excellent keeper. And I like his name too: Nick de Hooge. I think I can hear the crowd chant "HOOOOOOOOOOOGE!!!!" every time he makes a big save :)

Wow!! Jason Chang, value 53,000, went for 90k while I drove around Virginia. Listed for 45, sold for 90. Most players of his type have been sold for 90% of value since I've been tracking. If not less.

GREAT OG!!! I remember my first few sales of my first playmaking trainee that I had only trained from inadequate to passable playmaking. Had to sell some of the first few simply to get myself out of debt and anything I'd get a bid over 75k, I'd go crazy :)

Times have change, the trill remains, but for some godawful huge sums of money, which once they're in the bank account, are spent almost immediately :)

All I did was train stamina and see him go from passable to excellent, but Exc stamina plus passable PM is marketable. And how.

I bought three guys with passable PM and crap stamina knowing I would train stamina my first three weeks and again when the league rolls over. they cost me 50K (for the three) and now I'm thinking I'll I can get that for each of them when they pop to Exc stamina.

great strategy! You did your homeworks well my friend. I too did some stamina at first, but never was bright enough to buy some extra players, even less think about the use of stamina for playmakers, before doing the stamina training... Very well done!

1.1 millC$ is 550k U$ :) Not bad for a solid playmaker with solid stamina AND solid passing AND inadequate defending... :) Thing is, Thomas was bought as an inadequate playmaker with weak stamina, in the first quarter of last season. He just popped to solid playmaking, at age 20 and never figured to make much of an impact because of his late start in playmaking training. My current playmaking starters are 19 and formidable already, he would have never caught up with them and would have dragged down my midfield rating, so byebye Thomas... :)

Well in the other hand i put my great new young pick at 700k and nobody wanted him, now i have put him at 200k and i hope he will reach that 500/700k that other players like him are being sold.

This showed me that it's so important the starting price, nobody looks at a player like mine at 700k, but as soon of some guys fight for a player, he reaches that 700k without problem. Who hasn't overpayed for a guy after entering on a bid war?

My keeper lost a bit of form and since his first game has been only giving me 3.5 stars, but I'd have to assume it's a very high 3.5. Anyway, I'm very happy with him :)
