View Full Version : Another reason I hate Stuart Scott

He's doing this interview with Ricky Proehl (sp) and for the most part, I like what Ricky is saying.
I do not, however, appreciate the fact that Scott had to bring up the fact that Proehl is white. I don't want to know why people think it isn't right for a white receiver to beat a black DB...and I don't need to hear about it more than once. "Brother this" and "brother that". Since when does it stop being about a receiver that has been in the league 14 years without a pro bowl appearance and start being about a black interviewer bringing up the fact that Ricky is pretty good for a non black football player. Big deal what color his skin is.
Fuck stuart and his fake eye. He "gives brothas a bad name" (as he would say it).
Now, where are those flames?

Ok on the whole eye issue, I thought it was just me. His eye didn't used to be that way, I didn't know it was possible to develop a lazy eye in adulthood, assuming that's what it is, but I am probably wrong.

He got smacked in the eye with a football when he was trying out at WR in Jets camp a few years ago.

Around here we have a Jeremy Shockey ad for some watch, called the "Shock" something or other and it shows him wearing the watch while playing and I remember thinking how odd it looked....

Did it bother Ricky? I have seen a few clips of him, Torry Holt, and Issac Bruce joking on the sidelines about the same type of thing..

The discussion on the board before about faggot seemed to come to the conclusion that if it can offend someone, it doesn't matter whether or not it offends the person it was said too.

I am not saying I disagree with you, but that is what the people said. If Ricky would have said one thing about how he is sick of the slow white guy stereotypes to Stu, things could have turned ugly. But considering that Ricky knows that the slow white guy stereotype isn't what is keeping more white RB's, WR's, and DB's out of the league. Odd concept.
Now as someone I know says, I guess if you don't have centuries of persecution to deal with, you can understand jokes don't have to be correct to be funny.

Stu Scott had some kind of deal with his eye a while back. I don't remember specifics but I know that he missed considerable time from ESPN because of it.

In Primetime after the Tennessee game he led into a commercial with something like "Want to know why McNair is the co-mvp, wait until you see what he did today!"
Hmmm... the guy passed for less than 200 yards and had three interceptions against one touchdown. Makes you wonder if he even watched the game or understands it at all.

Coming full circle back to Rush's comments about McNabb, it would have been interesting to hear Stu Scott's commercial lead-in about Peyton Manning had he thrown 3 picks in a narrow Indy win, rather than 5 TDs in a blowout. Would that have been worthy of such praise?
Not saying Rush is right, because I think Stu's comments were more about the hard-on EVERYONE has for McNair right now, as opposed to his race. Still...

As far as I know he's partially blind in both eyes. He already has severe vision issues, then got hit in the eye at Jets training camp (it was going to be a feature), causing more problems to what was his "good" eye at the time.
I saw him at a small movie theater in NYC a few months ago. I was tempted to yell out a catch phrase. But I actually felt more tempted to throw out a fake catch-phrase from the Tim Meadows-Ray Romano Sportscenter skit on SNL a few years go.
"Sweet Sassy- Mo-lassy!" or "Karl Malone says 'I'm not gonna pay a lot for this muffler!'"

Not trying to make light of his situation, but if this is true maybe he DID NOT see the same game the rest of us saw

albion was right, Ricky was the man on TSB. He was unstoppable on the WR reverse. Me and my friends simply called it "The Proehl Play", and when the computer ran it you knew there was nothing you could do, the Cards were going to score...
