AFC
Indy over KC
- There is no way KC's laughable defense can stop one of the most potent offense in the history of the NFL. Holmes and KC's offense will keep them in it for a while but they won't get out of Arrowhead.
P.S. this has nothing to do with me HATING the Kansas City Chie...er...Royals (1985).
Final score: INDY 38, KC 21

New England over Tennessee
- This should be a great game. Steve McNair is too injured and Eddie George isn't in the best shape either. Belicheck will have these boys ready and they will take it.
Final score: NE 24, TEN 14

NFC
St. Louis over Carolina
- The Panthers have a false sense of security after beating up on the hapless Cowboys who didn't deserve to be there. The Rams are all but unbeatable at the dome and with my screaming ass there they don't stand a chance. Hey Fox, everybody knows ur gameplan is to hit the recievers in the mouth and get phyiscal but Marshall Faulk will run it down your throat! Go Rams.
Final Score: STL 31, CAR 21

Green Bay over Philadelphia
- Who better to play a team who hasn't been that great at home this year than Brett Favre? Have you seen what the Packers have overcome? They are a team of destiny. Too bad that destiny only takes them so far, they will lose in the NFC Championship game in STL. We all know how Brett plays in domes and Mr. Favre's magic from up above will run out because he is scheduled to get his wings on that day.

I have to agree with most of your picks... although I'm not sure I'd write-off the Titans just yet... Indy could choke... Ahman Green could get neutralized in Philly... and Carolina... well, the Panthers have no chance.

Huh. I guess I'm confused at how Indy has one of the most potent offenses in the history of the NFL considering that they didn't led the NFL in either scoring or total offense. Hey, as I look at the stats, turns out they trailed Kansas City in both categories. Indy looks like they're standing still compared to the '98 Vikings or '99 Rams.

It's not a discussion, I'm just telling you you're full of crap.

Yeah, you ARE full of crap. But, you did get 2 of them right, so if you were a baseball player, you'd have a damn good average.

Edit--Home teams win 83% of the time at this stage of the playoffs. This week, they will win 100% of the time. I'm just sayin.............

The Green Bay Slacker is not going to beat the Philadelphia Eagle. And if you want references, ask MissouRah.......He knows all about my in-depth knowledge. My Colts can't top their performance of last week. It will be tough this week because Kansas City has a very good offensive line, and we have an undersized D-line. Not to mention KC has Priest Holmes running the ball. The defense will have their hands full, but I think this could be the year for the Colts. Atleast that is what I am hoping!

The Colts have one serious problem, Manning trying to win a big game. He is the anti-Montana. Where Montana won the big games, Manning doesn't.

Sorry, I have come to hate the Colts. Every single time I hear that stupid commercial on ESPN radio with that hayseed talking about Manning and Harrison it just makes me want to see them lose even more, oh and vomit.

Like sabotai was saying, there is no such thing as a lock anymore in the NFL, but I think the easiest play of the week might be KC (-3). They are just too good at home, and I think the time off might have gotten their defense in order to be at least "respectable" like they were earlier in the year.

mt--

If Dick Vermeil were still coach of the Rams--I agree that they would be a near lock to beat the Panthers.

But Mike Martz is your coach. Let me repeat. Mike Martz is your coach.

I'm not saying that the Rams will lose. But there is a reasonable chance that Martz will decide to have Bulger/Warner throw the ball 75 times while handing the ball to Faulk twice. If the Panthers can keep it close into the middle of the third quarter and get Martz to panic, he'll switch to his Super Bowl game plan, and then you are in trouble.

Indy downs the chiefs, Vermiel takes 4 years to get KC in the big game

The Titans manhandle brady and the Aintriots

The Eagles send Favre home for the spring

And in the upset of the week:
The panthers Defense smothers the Rams and moves on to the NFC tital game

Easily the best bet of the four games has to be KC -3...

Indy is great on the plastic and unloaded last week but the Chiefs are ultra tough at home. They have the firepower to match whatever Indy puts up. Also on the grass the Colt pass rush will not be as effective.

Look for KC to move on and cover...

And just to reinforce this, the Chiefs have a 13 game home winning streak going, plus they averaged 34 points per game at home this year. So it's money in the bank.

money in the bank.... They've been 13-3 the last two times they went to the playoffs, and both times got knocked out immediately.

The defense is insanely suspect. By no means is this game money in the bank.

EDIT: and we saw the Packers lose for the first time ever at home in the playoffs last year. Absolutely anything can happen... no home winning streak guarantees a win here.

No kidding there's no 100% gurantee but the point is covering 3 feels like a bargain and I'd say the Chiefs are at least a 70% chance to win it...

The defense is much better at home...

Hmmm... I wouldn't guarantee a win because the Titans are the 2nd best team in the league IMO, but a 12 game winning streak, including a win (when shorthanded) against the same Titans team, a banged-up Steve McNair playing in elements that will be enough for his leg to actually snap in half if hit and Eddie George trying to run up the middle against Ted Washington and Richard Seymour. Combine all that with the luckiest player in the history of the NFL, Tom Brady, and I must be clueless because I believe the Pats will win.

A couple a things from a Boston Titans fan.First, let's not exaggerate the temp tomorrow in Foxboro will be a low of 3 and a high of 12 with 10-15 mph wind that knocks it down to about -5.Next, whoever says Titans are not that great of a runD because people haven't run that much against them is bs.Everybody tries to run on them in the first half, get stuffed, and go to the pass in the second half. Also, I am tried off listening to the injury report stuff about all the Pats that were out last game take a look the Titans had a bunch starters out.The real truth of that first game was the Pats flew under the radar and the Titans underestimated them but even so the Pats were lucky to escape with a win.We heard all the same smack from RAVENS fans last week about how George was overrated and how the the home field was a big advantage.Note:The Ravens will enjoy this weekend's games from the comfort of the their sofas!I hope the Pats come out as overconfident as there fans appear to be.Hey, look the Pats are a great team, brady is a great young QB,Belliceck is a genius, but the Titans are and have been one of the NFL'S "smashmouthingest"(tired of the" toughest") and toughness is what's going to matter in this one .Fisher is not a fool either, he will be ready for the Pats slants/screens quick pass attack strategy.BTW here's a interesting point looking at the rosters the Pats have 22 players who played there college ball in cold weather areas and the Titans got 31 palyers from the ice belt states.Weather will affect both teams.........I know I played some college ball in Colorado and it was always true.Key match up: Ty Law vs. Mason. It will be a great game but I think someone is about to be taught a lesson in humility.Good luck to both teams and their fans.

If my favorite NFL team made it this far into the playoffs you can bet they would beat all of your teams.

Any wins against my team this year was a fluke, as we had key injuries, the refs made bad calls, and my team overlooked your team.

But make no mistake about it, if my team had made it this far, my team's positive qualities would come out, eliminating all negative qualities and making my team UNBEATABLE in the face of your pathetic teams.

So opposing fans, next year when the playoffs come around, don't bother to show up for the games and be sure to bet against your own teams, because my team will surely be victorious!

Oh wait, I'm a Saints fan. Nevermind.

Toss up----Whose the worse coach? Mike Martz or Mike Tice?

Wilbon--Both, because they are white.

Kornheiser--Wilbon, you have to pick one.

Wilbon--Ok, i pick Tice, because he's a meat head.

Kornheiser--I pick Tice too, and i'll tell you why. Because the Vikings started 6-0 and didn't even make the playoffs.

Being a Panthers fan, it always strikes me that they have to be an incredibly frustrating team to play against. How many games have been like this game's first half, the other team should have a substantial lead, but because of failures in the red zone, and maybe a fluke play or two, Carolina keeps it close or leads. The other team in the second half makes the mistake of trying to play the Panthers game and goes conservative, only to realize that you need to put them away fast or they just hang around. Of course the Rams put together a good string at the end of regulation, and I figured we were done for, only to have Martz fall prey to the biggest mistake of all (except for fighting in a land war in Asia.)

Never take the Panthers to overtime when death is on the line! ;)

First, before the game I thought that the Rams were going to win. I was as fooled as everyone else.

Second, my dislike of the Rams has nothing to do with the team, and everything to do with Martz. Great OC. Horrible horrible coach.

Third, I would ask that no other fans of the Rams or St. Louis take this personally, but I feel a need to counteract the over aggressive stance that mtaystl03 took before the game:

[Ha ha! You lost. Now all you have to comfort you is that arch and that frozen custard. And Mike Martz is still your coach. Ha ha!]

it's funny that when Chad Johnson guarantees wins, it's laughable, but people who have absolutely no control as to what happens, i.e. they're not even playing in the game, let alone coaching or refereeing, it's perfectly acceptable for them to be *sure* of what's going to happen.

The best part of that game to me was that Carolina TRIED to lose it and still couldn't. Penalty after penalty, giving up big plays at the end, barely trying to recover the onside kick, delay-of-game followed by a miss in overtime, and they still managed to beat the Rams. The game against Philly should be interesting, assuming Kasay is completely over the funk he had the first time they met.

Watching that game followed by my beloved Patriots game back-to-back was almost more than I could handle for a Saturday of football. And I get to do it all over again next Sunday...
