Damn! One of the few great shows on MTV, gone after just 2 seasons! WHY, ASHTON, WHY?

Kutcher has gotten more fame from this show than anything in the past, a big hit, why is he hangin' it up?

Bucc: Never seen it. Don't know what it is about. Don't care.

Ksyrup: I agree with Bucc.

Seriously, what's that guy done anyway? 70's Show - whoopie! Oh yeah, and I guess he's done Demi.

Speaking of which, she somehow got herself onto one (or more) of those I Love the 70's/80's shows on VH1, as one of the witty commenters - minus the witty, of course. Is she really going all out to try to recapture her career, or what? She couldn't be more out of place than if she was dating some guy 10 years younger just to look cool.

Oh wait...

He was in that? I saw so little of it that I don't remember anything about it other than it was awful. We were visiting relatives and my 20 year old cousin wanted to watch it, so we put the tape in and the wife and I had to leave after about 10 minutes. I understand that it's the equivalent of Strange Brew for the Y2K crowd, but I just didn't get it. At all.

However, I will take two bowls of split plea soup, ya hoser!

Yikes.

Dude was the second movie that made me feel old. The first was Clueless. Five years after high school, the wife and I go to the theater, and everything about that movie - the clothes, the speech, the fact that kids had cell phones - that was when I first realized I was old. Dude I Shoved My Keys Up My Ass gave me the jolt of realizing I had turned 30.

I can't wait for my kids to become teens...

Same here...I will hear from time to time kids/teens saying that Half Baked or something is a classic...

I am 18 right now, but my favorite movies are Slap Shot, Caddyshack, Apocalypse Now, Fast Times, Animal House, Blues Brothers and the like.

Those are truly classics.

This is one time (and perhaps the only time) that I completely agree with Shorty. Half-Baked is a great movie.

Sir-Smoke-A-Lot alone makes the movie.

I can't comment on the something wrong...I'm sure there is however...

Half Baked should not be characterized as a comedy classic. I'm sure it had some yucks for those in tune with it but please...

Is that the one with the goat guy from SNL? Never saw it, although I wanted to. But watching mindless, juvenile comedies is difficult when you get married.

I never really liked that guy, anyway. He seemed to be a one-trick pony, kinda like the chick from the Tri-Delta skit who kept doing the same character in every skit she did.

They should have had Bruer play the part as goat boy...that's a winner...

Brian: Get some sour cream and onion chips with some dip, man, some beef jerky, some peanut butter. Get some Haagen-Dasz ice cream bars, a whole lot, make sure chocolate, gotta have chocolate, man. Some popcorn, red popcorn, graham crackers, graham crackers with marshmallows, the little marshmallows and little chocolate bars and we can make s'mores, man. Also, celery, grape jelly, Cap'n Crunch with the little Crunch berries, pizzas. We need two big pizzas, man, everything on 'em, with water, whole lotta water, and Funyons.

Kenny: That's it?

Thurgood: Yeah, one more thing. Remember that stuff? We used to eat a whole lot of it back in the day? What was it... oh yeah, pussy.

But the best part of that scene is after he says he sucked dick for coke the black guy stands up and says "I seen him!". That is one quote I always bring back up in normal conversations.

In all honesty, I'm sad to see the show end. I didn't mind the guy at first, but I think in his head he got too big for his own good. He was always shouting and stuff, wasn't too funny.

But it was real funny watching some celebs making complete asses out of themselves, confirming our pre-conceived notion that they think they are above most things.

Dude...looked like a how-to video on what you can do with your new Cinematic 3000.

Half-Baked: Great movie...one of those where you can just sit and enjoy. Of course, no thought is necessary, but it's a nice release. I wouldn't put it up there with Monty Python, or South Park BLU, on terms of comedic genius. But it is a good movie.

By the way, why is the cancellation of Punk'd just being discussed now? Kutcher said he was cancelling the show a month ago.

FYI:

LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Weeks after having its top-rated "Punk'd" junked, MTV is back in business with Ashton Kutcher on a new series.

The actor's Katalyst Films shingle is developing "My New Best Friend," a hidden-camera comedy in a similar vein to "Punk'd," which Katalyst decided to end after two seasons.

"Friend" is one of 18-20 pilots the teen-friendly network plans to develop for 2004.

Although MTV is coming off its highest-rated year among its target 12-34 demographic, Brian Graden, president of entertainment at MTV and VH1, noted that nearly 90% of the channel's programming met ratings targets, a figure he realized would be difficult to repeat this year.

"That is too precarious a stat to base your future on," he said, noting that 60% would be a more realistic success rate. "The notion is we need enough content to choose from."

MTV's recent hits include "The Osbournes" and "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica," and hopes are hopes are high for its upcoming "Carmen & Dave," which traces the marriage preparations of Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra.

"The feedback we've been getting from celebrities is that they feel creatively safe here," said Lois Curren, executive vp MTV series entertainment. "They know we can attach the right people to help them realize what they want to do on TV."

But Kutcher's decision to end "Punk'd," the anchor of MTV's "Sunday Stew" lineup, which drew young male viewers in record numbers to the channel, came as a setback. Graden admits that he was unprepared for the news that its creators felt the series had run its course. "It took me by surprise," he said. "But at MTV, we've gotten used to fast cycles and phenomena."

Softening the blow is "Friend," which is based on a British series of the same name. In "Friend," a contestant can win a substantial cash prize by convincing friends and/or family that a person they have never met before -- actually an improv actor handpicked by Katalyst -- is a new best friend. The actor makes the task as difficult as possible by behaving inappropriately.

"We looked at 'Punk'd' as a great platform for improv actors," said Jason Goldberg, co-principal at Katalyst with Kutcher. "This is also a show where improv actors really take it to the limit."

Kutcher will co-executive produce "Friend" but is not expected to serve in an on-air capacity as he did on "Punk'd." No airdate has been scheduled.

In the meantime, a reconfigured "Sunday Stew" will return in April with "Punk'd" lead-out series "Viva la Bam" in the anchor slot because the latter series shone brightly enough to outperform "Punk'd" in the ratings on a few occasions.

Another "Stew" series, "Wildboyz," also will return, but Graden will likely move a fourth "Stew" stalwart, "One Bad Trip," out of the block, leaving two spaces to fill before it returns.

Here's a thought; how about he does a reality show where he convinces people he knows how to act...
