View Full Version : Possible bug in FOF2004 Multiplayer

I hope I'm not stepping on our Commish's toes or anyone else from the eNFL but I wanted to post our concern about this on this board. It appears that FOF2004 after week 3 of the regular season is substituting the QB of the visiting team during the game without rhyme or reason. For example, McNabb has been pulled in the last 2 visiting games for no obvious reason and definitely not injury. In fact, 14/14 visiting starting QB's were puilled the past week (week 6.) I'm posting one key tidbit from Tredwel's post in our thread on the eNFL discussing this.

This started in Week 4. In Week 3, all visiting starting QBs finished the game. In Week 4, 8 out of 14 visiting QBs were relieved. Week 5: 7/14, Week 6: 14/14!!

The link to the entire thread is: http://www.tredsoft.com/eNFL/viewtopic.php?t=193

Our commish has stated that he has emailed Solecismic, but I wanted to post a thread to see if any other leagues are seeing any such problems. However, we have noted it didn't start til after week 3 apparently.

i'm wondering if it had to do with the newest patch. I know we had started simming games when the patch b was released. I'm going to go into the archives to determine when the patch was released.

bump.

I'm surprised this hasn't generated more comment. I think it definitely is a bug, and a major one.

For example, we have quarterbacks like Peyton Manning, Donovan McNabb, Rich Gannon, etc., being pulled at the beginning of the third quarter in road games without any injuries, poor performance, or any other apparent reason.

Heck, not even at the beginning of the second half. Pittsburgh pulled Kurt Warner in favor of Tommy Maddox in the middle of a possession for no reason.

Yikes - that's no good. This bug could really undermine any attempts at a multiplayer league. Here's to hoping Jim can quickly find and squash it.

Perhaps Dennis Green could help?

We're at Week 10 of our office league and no one has mentioned this yet. I know that neither my QB nor any QB I've played against has been pulled.

This almost sounds like the QB substitution logic for preseason games is being used for a few regular season road games.

Or something.

That's what it looked like to me too. We'll see.

Maybe that means it will go away after it's done it for five weeks?

Brenda Warner must have called in to the offensive coordinator's booth. :D

For those interested, the problem has gone away after three strange weeks.

For now it's gone.. I just hope it doesn't come back.

Bump

This is now happening in IHOF. Any resolution on this or experience in other leagues?

IOur commish has stated that he has emailed Solecismic

Was there ever any reply?

thanks for finding this Subby.

So did this problem completely disappear after a few weeks for everyone?

Is it random, or is it always certain teams?

If it is only certain teams, can you find something in common?

This seems to be the first week we've had issues.

To me, before we claim bug I think it would be important to know:

1. What they had the playing time set at
2. How good the back up is relative to the starter
3. What the "use injured players" % was set to.

The problem went away the week after we posted about it here, without changing anything. It hasn't returned yet.

In the just-run IHOF week 2, it happened to every home team.

The problem went away the week after we posted about it here.

Ahh, so we have already performed the generally accepted solution :)

EDIT: I do not know why people are concerned about "play injured player" settings. This happens to players who are not getting injured.

Is it always in the same quarter?

What about the game time?

Is it always in the same quarter?

What about the game time?In my game, the opposing QB (home), came out of the game in the home team's 2nd possession of the 3rd quarter, with 9:57 to go. Don't know if this had anything to do with it or not, but the last five passes he had thrown were incomplete, four of which were on bad throws (although three of those four were because of hurries). He was rated 69/69, and his backup 35/55. He was 13 for 22 for 91 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT when he came out of the game.

...and yet was named MVP of the game.No he wasn't. That was the second run, not the first. That was the 4-1-1 from the first run. I'm now working on reporting the circumstances from the 2nd run.

The second time, he was pulled in the middle of a drive, with 7-8 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. He was 2 for his last 3, and 17 for 22 on the day with his team trailing by 4. A case could be made for him being pulled the first time, but the second time is virtually impossible to justify. Has this been reported in the bug thread?

On the IHOF board, Jim has stated he'll take a close look at it.
