FOF2K4: Scoreboard Ball Color

I've been trying to figure out the pattern to the ball colors on the scoreboard, so I can make them consistent home/away. The bitmap is at 223 with Reshack, but I can't seem to figure out if the assigned color is random, or if there is something else at work. . . Any ideas?

I had the impression it was random. I use the all white scoreboard text by wheels.

I did too, but I've been experimenting and believe there is a pattern. I'm going to try to change the bitmap so the ball is the color of the respective endzones (home vs. away) in wheels' scoreboard.
