Maybe I'm behind the times on this one, but I just figured out how to "promote" one of my coordinators to HC. It's kinda a bass-ackwards way of doing it, but I just hired a new defensive coordinator. Then I hired the former DC as my new Head Coach.

Thanks for posting this. As a new FOF2004 player, I wouldn't have thought about doing it in that sequence.

Isn't that a bit risky, though? I mean, doesn't that mean you're essentially firing you defensive coordinator, then rehiring him? I'll admit I haven't done this yet. I had one point where my head coach retired, and I thought about promoting my DC, but since he was the best DC available, and there were better Head Coaches out there, it wasn't worth it. But it does seem like hiring a new DC gives other teams a chance to hire your old one.

True, but wait 'til a latter stage. You probably don't want to pay 6 mil for a DC anyway...

I'm assuming the DC that you wanted to hire as an HC, was still under contract at the time, prior to release?
I've hired my own DC as an HC - but that was only when my HC's contract had expired, as well as that of my DC's...

Yup. He still had 2 years remaining. He was the best HC I could find and I got him cheaper as HC than anyone else I was interested in...
