Agreed. I know the weather is supposed to be a factor in "football", but this is really extreme weather we are talking about, and its at a point where it could be dangerous for the players even.

It's a reasonable question to ask:
Will Steve McNair's legs break off in this kind of cold?

They say -13F, windchill -46F, so this one won't even be close...

dola, we had -49F with windchill yesterday morning here in nearby Quebec City... Would certainly never want to play a game in those kind of conditions... I had to go out there to start my car at the morning coffee break and at lunch break just to make sure it would start at the end of the day...

the AFC tile game in 1981 at Cincinnati between the Bengals and Chargers was -58 wind chill, of cource the poor chargers were just screwed as the week before they had to play in the 90 degree 90% humidity in Miami and took 2 nor 3 OT's to do it....

So lets break this down, who does this really effect? I think that passing might really be effected by this, so I think if anything this helps the Titans, unless Antwain Smith can really get it going. I think the Titans might just steal one here.

So taking the game out of the hands of the AFC MVP is an advantage to the Titans?

I don't think this game will be as close as everyone in the media seems to think it will be. The Titans were lucky to get by Baltimore and blew a lot of energy in the effort. I wouldn't be suprised to see them get shutout.

Yeah, but after the Canadian currency adjustment, it was actually more like 37 F and partly cloudy.

I know what you're thinking. But If you take away *BOTH* passing games, I think you have to give the offensive advantage to the Titans. The Titans weakness is their secondary, their strength is their run defense. I think it might just play right into their strength.

Were they lucky to get out of Baltimore with a win, of course. But if you look at that game a little closer, the game should never have been that close to begin with. If McNair didn't turn the ball over so much, the game wouldn't have been that close. The Titans were dominating on the defensive side of the ball, and McNair made some poor reads.

But the Patriots have a fantastic run defense also. Eddie George is overrated. And the Patriots excel at the short pass game which shouldn't be affected that badly. If McNair wasn't missing a leg, then Ten would be in much better shape.

I don't think I get how the passing game gets taken away. If you've watched Brady you know his ball isn't affected by wind...the short passes play to a strenght perhaps if you can't go deep. Even that I've seen some fine throws in wind.
The cold will have little to do with what each team can run. Wind may have the biggest to do with the kicking game...

George has played well towards the end of the year. It remains to be seen how much this injury slows him down.
Bottom line at +7, you gotta love the Titans.

Eddie George will have little to do with the outcome...he's a shadow of his former self. Even the so called good game last week was running at a 3.5 ypc. Add the injury and he's toast.
Chris Brown will have much more to do with the outcome but realistically this one is all on McNair as the Pats don't allow much rushing yardage at all...

I'd consider the Titans at +14, I really think this is a big mismatch. Too much reliance on the last game.

All I care about is a 3 point win for the Pats.

Not sure I'd agree with this. First off, the Patriots and Titans played a close game the first time the two teams played. 38-30 would cover the 7 point spread, but that game could have went either way. It was far from a domination.
Beyond that, the Titans are a VERY good football team.
Going back to their bye week last year, this is a team that is 23-6 with three of those losses being by over 7 points.
That's as good of a record as you will find in the NFL over that period. I expect this will be a very close and hard fought game. It still wouldn't shock me to see the AFC final be two of the teams that played on wild card weekend.

My point was that people are basing their expectations on that last game when the Patriots were missing a ridiculous amount of players due to injuries.
I'm not saying that Tennesee can't win, but I think the deck is more stacked against them than people seem to think. McNair is really beat up. If he could run, then it's a different ballgame, but the Baltimore game showed how roughed up he is.

The good news for the Titans is it won't be snowing. The bad news is it's too cold to. I think my town is supposed to set a record overnight low and may do so again tomorrow night. I'm about 30min north of Foxboro, but at 8pm tomorrow night, the projected temperature is 0, Feels like -18, and it only goes down from there later in the night. The burning question for tomorrow night is whether Bill Belichick will wear a T-Shirt or a thong.

The Titans Run D isn't that great, but they have had by far the least carries against them this year, which makes their ypg allowed look great.
Overall, combining a banged-up Tennessee team, a Pats team that is finally fully healthy (do you think Eddie George is running up the middle on Ted Washington and Richard Seymour?), the ultimate cold-weather home game with a team that is used to it playing a team that isn't, and Tom Brady, the luckiest football player alive, I see a Pats victory and I think they'll cover too.

A couple a things from a Boston Titans fan.First, let's not exaggerate the temp tomorrow in Foxboro will be a low of 3 and a high of 12 with 10-15 mph wind that knocks it down to about -5.Next, whoever says Titans are not that great of a runD because people haven't run that much against them is bs.Everybody tries to run on them in the first half, get stuffed, and go to the pass in the second half. Also, I am tried off listening to the injury report stuff about all the Pats that were out last game take a look the Titans had a bunch starters out.The real truth of that first game was the Pats flew under the radar and the Titans underestimated them but even so the Pats were lucky to escape with a win.We heard all the same smack from RAVENS fans last week about how George was overrated and how the the home field was a big advantage.Note:The Ravens will enjoy this weekend's games from the comfort of the their sofas!I hope the Pats come out as overconfident as there fans appear to be.Hey, look the Pats are a great team, brady is a great young QB,Belliceck is a genius, but the Titans are and have been one of the NFL'S "smashmouthingest"(tired of the" toughest") and toughness is what's going to matter in this one .Fisher is not a fool either, he will be ready for the Pats slants/screens quick pass attack strategy.BTW here's a interesting point looking at the rosters the Pats have 22 players who played there college ball in cold weather areas and the Titans got 31 palyers from the ice belt states.Weather will affect both teams.........I know I played some college ball in Colorado and it was always true.Key match up: Ty Law vs. Mason. It will be a great game but I think someone is about to be taught a lesson in humility.Good luck to both teams and their fans.:p

I disagree. The Patriots run defense is awesome. The Titans run offense is not that good. They get lots of yards but use a lot of carries - the ypc is not that good, plus George is hurt. In addition, in week 5, the Pats hung the most rushing yards on the Titans that they allowed all year (at least I think that is what I heard on ESPN). So, I disagree running favors Titans. In addition, the Pats augment the run with very short passing which they have showed they can do in even the worst weather. e.g. in the snowbowl against the Raiders, Brady completed 9 straight when driving for their TD in the 4th quarter.
