2037 Season
Herb says 100/100/100/74 : 98
7 Bowls in 9 years.
CB Barry Peterman steps down, saving us some cap room.
First impressions going into this season...our QB in waiting, Antoine Parrish, aint too happy. Since he's a keeper Im going to have to play him back to disgruntled and sign him to a long-term deal.
Our cohesion is among the best in the league in most areas.
We go into FA OVER the cap by 3.5 million, so I will be wheelin and dealin...everyone but Ainsworth and T Nuclear Bradford are signed.
In a cost-cutting move we send DT Geoff Freitag, LB OJ Briggs and WR Dana Lyon to Kansas City for LB Renaldo Freitag (best young LB in league) and the 3rd overall pick in the draft.
We then trade our first round pick (36) this year, plus DE Riley and DE Grembowski to the Las Vegas Hitmen for last year's number one overall pick, DE John Jacoby.
We send backup QB Foley, backup LB Henry, a 1st (30) and 2nd (36) to Jacksonville for all-pro LB Todd Bellamy and their #1 (10) pick in the draft.
We send P Joey England and a 3rd round pick (36) to Tennessee for the best P in the league, Wade Rogers.
Finally we send backupCB Ray Head and a 1 (18), 4 (36), and 5 (36) to Detroit for the 4th pick in the draft. We go into FA 51 million under the cap.
Nuclear Nick Bradford won't resign with us because of complaints about playing time.
No one else looks affordable so we move on to the draft.
Draft
1(3) Lonnie Watson, S, Georgia (96, 100, 96,x,x, 100)
1(4) Will Norton, S, BYU, (96, 97, 100, x, x, 100)
We trade our 10th pick and S Wayne and S Winslett to the Milwaukee Mission for their 12th this year and a first rounder in each of the next two years. This was a hard trade to pull, but Watson and Norton will patrol the Secondary together for years to come.
1(12) Brett Wiggins, FB, Kentucky (96,96, 96, 96, 98, 96, 97, 91, 77)
We look to free up some more cap room after the draft...
We release TE Marvin Welch so that he can hook up with another team and pick up a 4th QB in our grand plan to make Parrish happy enough to sign a long term deal...
We move RB Carl Robbins, who is in the last year of his contract, to Green Bay, for two first round picks (2038, 2039).
Training Camp
We concentrate on the 3-4 and running formations, as well as several blitz packages. We carry 9 LBs into camp.
Exhibition Season
McKnight and Ainsworth plus several other vets get breathers.
We lose brand new DE John Jacoby for 2-3 months in the FIRST GAME.
We finish off the exhibition season with a 20-0 drubbing of Dallas and finish at 3-1. But our O-Line gets decimated and we lose 2 starters (G Bensen and T McGwire) for 2-3 months.
