If a player retires before his contract is up does the remaining bonus money still count against you?

How about the actual salary for their remaining years?

No, only the bonus money counts. The salary does not.

Keep in mind:
Signing bonus = GUARANTEED MONEY for the player.

Is the bonus accelerated when the player retires, like it is when you cut or trade a player? For example, if you sign a player to a 5 year contract with a $5m bonus and he retires after the first year, do you then take a cap hit of $4m or do you go on taking $1m hits for the next four years?

I think all bonus money is paid in full, the next year.

You take the cap hit all at once (or over 2 years if its after june 1st) - like what Vinny is going to do in real life for the jets

We don't have a June 1 thing in FOF. So, in FOF when a guy retires, his entire remaining prorated bonus counts against the cap in the year he retires. This is slightly different than cutting a player, when the prorated bonus all counts in next year's cap.
