Ok I was on my squad's site for Americas Army, and I check out this link that someone posted....
Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with people?
Warning this video is graphic. There is not any sexual content, nor blood. But once you see the end of it you will see why. :(
Asshole Skater Video (http://69.28.156.67/a65/o1/portal/2481847_200.asf)
It shows the part and you'll all know if you watch the whole thing and it's towards the end. What this guy did was just fucking disgusting.
And someone did a follow-up and the guy he hit ended up dieing from brain hemoraging and the guy got anywhere from 7 1/2 to life. I really hope he gets anally fucked every night by each and every prison member.

Personally, I blame that show 'Jackass' and all. I'm sure there are probably other shows too...but, well. I never saw the movie or the show (since I didn't have cable at the time), but stuff like that never really clicked with me.
Maybe back in high school long ago, but even then, I doubt it.
EDIT: Er, in terms of the prior stuff before he started assaulting the fellow. Still though, every city has it's ass. I have to wonder what the hell the person holding the camera, filming this was thinking too. I take it everyone involved in the making of the video was in court?

Don't blame the show, blame this fucking idiot. :) I hate it when people put the blame on TV, video games, etc...
I too hope this guy gets anally raped in prison by everyone. What's with the other people though? No one even tried to stop him? They just watch him beat on this guy with a skateboard? I find that strange too.

Mob mentality. Same thing that happened with that parade awhile ago where all the women got assaulted in the park in NY. A bunch of people standing around. You see no one else helping so you don't help. Or, you think with so many people watching, someone else must be getting help.
And I don't blame the show Jackass either. I've seen video of this kind of stuff since long before MTV ever showed Jackass.
(Besides, Jackass is a show about crazy stunts...not someone beating up someone else with a skateboard.)
And someone did a follow-up and the guy he hit ended up dieing from brain hemoraging and the guy got anywhere from 7 1/2 to life. Are there links to followup stories?

My sentiments exactly about the bystanders. What kind of idiotic folks can you be, to simply watch and go, "Ohhhh!" everytime the fellow got whacked? Help usually ends up being too little, and too late I guess..
EDIT: Where did this happen exactly anyways?

Well.. i dunno about that follow up.. cause if he was hit hard enough to cause brain hemoraging.. he wouldn't be getting up.. But here is the problems i see with that video
if it's true
That guy clearly let himself get into a bad situation.. with a asshole.. being taped by his friends.. trying to probably impress his girl.. should have just sat in the car.. and called the cops.. and waited.. nobody dies.. nobody gets hurt.. or hell.. if he wanted to be taped so bad.. hit his ass with the car grand theft auto style :)

I'm not sure if I'm reading your post correctly, but are you putting some blame on the guy who got beat with the skateboard?

Sounds like it.
I don't know if some idiot throws a skateboard at my car I think I would get out and confront him as well. I guess I would not expect to be beaten to death in front of a bunch of people while they just watch but thats just me.

I don't like to generalize, but I'm going to here. This is EXACTLY why most people think skateboarders are complete assholes/punks. They always show themselves in this light. Lets see, I'm going to throw my skateboard at a car. What a fucking douchebag. I mean what do you really do in that situation? You call the cops, they issue him a citation or whatever, you find out that he doesn't have two cents to his name, you end up paying the $500 deductable on the car repair. It totally sucks.
Get a shower, and get a real job/life. All this "Jackass" crap is really starting to piss me off.

Not sure if I've found the right case or not, but this might be the one you're talking about
(To be honest, my murder & mayhem quota has been used up at the moment & I don't believe I could stomach watching the video myself to try to match it to the story)

I was looking up the story as well and came across that article you mentioned, but its not that one. Unfortunately, there has been more than one instance of this kind of brutal beating.

Actually, surfing the web I found two skateboard-related cases (this one I've already linked & another in Florida) where that's pretty much what happened -- the victim gets up but later dies from his injuries.

That, and the fact that they don't understand how much damage they do to public/private land they don't own. Scraping paint off railings, for example. And then they get indignant when people who have to pay for repairs try to kick them off the property.
Skateboarding in your own yard or up and down the street, fine. And I'm glad they are building skateparks where these kids have an appropriate place to play. But stop getting worked up when you get kicked off property you don't own and are damaging.

Wow, it would have been nice if a friend of the person getting attacked got out of the car, pulled out a .45, and shot that skateboarder in the kneecaps.
Where in the hell were the cops? Cell phones, no cops? That's a very disturbing video.

I agree. I don't have any problem with the actual "ACT" of skateboarding. It just seems that the "Skaters" are the problem.
To be honest, it seems like all the professional skaters (you know , the ones on Espn2 during the X-games) are all clean cut, well spoken individuals.

Ragone, you're assumign the guy videotaping the incident was a freind of the guy who got beaten. Considering the video started before the skateborder even threw his skateboard at the car with the guy and his girlfriend in it, I would say that's not the case. And blaming the guy who stood up to the skateboarder for throwing his skateboard at his or his girlfriend's car is total bullshit.
Also, if you don't like to generalize, then don't. I've known MANY skateboarders in my life and I'll say most of them never went to public parks at tried to do tricks off of railings. (They'd go to parks, but just ride the skateboard like you're supposed to). And none of them were punks or assholes.

You all obviously didn't understand me.. The beatup guy walked himself into a bad situation.. with the skatepunk and his friends videoing.. clearly a situation you don't wanna walk yourself into.. I'm not saying he deserved to get beat up.. i'm saying this whole thing could have been easily avoided with just a simple phone call to the cops.
And, as for generalizing.. well nevermind.. you wasn't referring to me :)

I disagree. In cases like this, particularly. Someone with this low of an IQ doesn't have the brain cells to come up with the idea to film it and post it unless someone else makes it trendy.

I think this is part of it:
Back in March of 2002 we brought a camera man to South Padre. His name is Mike Stief but we call him Carolla. He filmed the "South Padre Gangster" footage (Dunlap was filming it as well and we gave Dunlap's tape to the police to put that asshole in jail).
I'm still doing more detective work.

From what I've read, yes. Seems like he should be doing more time than that.
I'm wondering how that guy got back up and started walking again? Maybe he collapsed after the video camera was turned off. Seems like the video we saw was one of Steve-o's boys, hence the warning.

Steve-o...isn't that one of the fellows from 'Jackass'? I've heard about some of the cast members through some friends. That sounds familiar, though I think the one prominent one was some 'Johnnyville' or something. Erg...can't recall...

It looked real to me, or the guy who got whacked with the board is a good actor, because the way he sort of crumbles and is dazed is pretty typical (from what I know) of somebody who just received some blows to the head. Some random idiot would have overdone it. If it is real, that is definitely messed up. Once he landed the first solid pop to the head that guy was just a sitting duck.

I forgot to add that I was hoping she would have castrated him when he got the idea to whip it out. I figured her response to that action was going to be the big part of the video...unfortunately, it wasn't.

And what the hell was going on with all of those people watching it? Why didn't everybody get out and beat the hell out of this punk? He should have been turned into some ground beef on the curb and left to be washed down the drain.

I think it was more than just the guy with the skateboard, he probably had a bunch of friends with him.
Either way, the cops should have been called right off the bat.

It's just appalling that there are people like that in the world. Everything on that video shows a person with no empathy whatsoever, someone that takes great pleasure from causing other people grief.
Having random strangers get on his board so he can kick it out from under them? Who thinks this is funny?
Hucking his board at a passing car? Who over the age of 8 thinks throwing things at passing cars is funny? Flashing a woman who calls him on being an asshole and causing property damage?
The fact he then proceeded to savagely beat a guy with his board is unfortunately not surprising - he'd shown up to that point no evidence of empathy whatsoever. The fact is wasn't just one blow with the skateboard, that he proceeded to beat the shit out of that guy after he was incapacitated shows me a sorry excuse for a human being, someone that could be classified as a psycho.
This kind of thing raises tough questions - can someone like this be rehabilitated to think differently and behave differently, or is he hopeless at this point? Will jail encourage him to change his behavior or harden him and make it worse? Should he be locked away forever to protect the public? Are we willing to make that harsh of a judgement on someone based off that evidence, and are we willing to pay for his lifetime incarceration? Is this kind of behavior worse than someone that deals marijuanna, and should his sentence relfect that?

Only way he can contribute to society is by letting medical students carve on his corpse or turning him into fertilizer.
