A fully featured three-day demo is now on the site. Just download and install this file:

This is essentially the same files as the normal install. So, if you decide to purchase the game after playing, just click the purchase option. No other downloads are needed.

The current version of the demo is 1.29.

The game is in pretty good shape right now. Much better overall than at launch. Arlie is working on cleaning up the PBP and tweaking some other things. I recommend at least giving it a try.

Next patch is supposed to be a couple weeks after Arlie finishes up with all the 1.2's. He's on 1.29 now, but I think he said he may put out a 1.30 as part of the 1.2 series and then make the next version 1.4.

Just to clarify, 1.29 is the final "1.2" patch. Right now I am working on a 1.3 patch that will adjust some gameplan issues, tweak the trade AI slightly, provide a little more feedback in the PBP and address some multiplayer reporting wish lists.

of course, the TPF's Elicensing asked me to reboot the PC, and then messed up my FOF2 game...
"unable to retrieve a license bla bla bla"
same error message I had after elicensing FOF2004...

WHY AREN'T THESE GAMES COMPATIBLE WITH FOF2 ELICENSING dammit !!

What I thought was cool is how you had to register just to play the demo, to see if you even like the game.

What are your language settings? Is it RTE 13? If so try switching the regional and language settings to English (US).

Anybody have any problems with the demo? I downloaded it and tried to run the file and the installation wizard blue box came up for like 5 seconds thenit would just stop. I tried 4 or 5 times. I deleted the file and I am currently redownloading it to try again. I have Windows 98 SE, but the website says its compatible? Thoughts?

you have to install it in 1024x768, if you're not already doing that..... I've found that to be odd with all the .400ss games, that you can't even install it unless your in 1024x768. Atleast that's what my initial issue was.

Woot! I got farther than Noble Platypus. Mine is only giving me a run-time error 1004 when I try to create a new league. I'll see if it's the resolution.

EDIT - Not the resolution. Also, the Help button doesn't work when I click on it. :shurg:

Not the fix, but a possible work around (so you don't waste your demo) would be downloading the Real player league from Here (http://www.400rc.net/tpf/mods.html) and drop that into save folder... load that league, select a team from team editor and play.

That error typically indicates you don't have the latest version of the MDAC (Microsoft Database Access Components). Just install it and you should be fine.

For Noble Platypus' issue, the screen resolution would be my first guess.

Thanks for the tip, but I get the same error when loading that file. I PM'd Scott, so hopefully we can sort this out.

I tried at the proper resloution and with no other programs running to load the demo and still nothing. I guess I'll spend $35 on something else as it appears that I wont be able to run the game.

Scott deirected me to an old thread from TDCB and it ended up being something with the .dll's. I registered them all and afterwards, the run-time error disappeared. Thanks for the help.

Not bad... my only real complaint sof ar is that the interface isn't very user friendly... to see the rating of a player in the depth chart, you have to double click on them.. I hate having to do that.

I havent found that the interface is a problem. Mostly because the game wont install on my PC though.
