Did anyone else watch this yesterday?

I kind of like the premise and it didn't disappoint last night.

The actor that plays the "fat guy" was quite funny and I think he is doing a great job of making the bride-to-be uncomfortable. I am looking forward to future episodes when he goes to meet the parents.

This should be a fun train wreck to watch.

Yes, it looks promising..

Except I don't know why they show her dad 'OBJECTING to the marraige' in the previews at the beginning of the show. I mean, it could be a trick, like he's joking, but go ahead I guess. I dunno.

But I'll definitely watch the episodes. How many ever that may be. :)

No, I didn't watch it. No, I don't plan on it. I think shows like this make an absolute mockery of marriage, and I want my kids to go into their marriage thinking it's for life, not for the money.

Guess that was a long way of saying shows like this are crap.

LOL, I loved last night's episode. That guy does a pretty good job of acting like a big dumb oaf.

My girlfriend and I were wondering the same thing:confused:

While I think I have strong views on the sanctity of marriage, I am unsure how this shows mocks marriage itself. I think it mocks people who are trying to get something for being cruel to the people they care about. Watching people wriggle like a worm on a hook is what "Reality TV" is all about, that and low production costs.

Also...fat, obnoxious guy had me rolling in laughter more than a few times. :)

Considering that the President is considering amending the Constitution to restrict marriage rights to certain citizens, I'd be thrilled if he decided to tackle these kinds of television marital events first.

Wow, Cam and I can agree on something! ;)

Good news. The president can't amend the constitution by himself. So that problem's solved.

And yes, actually, you and I do agree on that (to a point). I think it is completely hypocritical of those who take advantage of no-fault divorce laws, those who support reality shows that erode marriage, etc. of being against gay marriage.

Now that doesn't mean I support gay marriage, I just prefer to be hypocrisy-free as I can be. :)

I think that's where we start disagreeing. Am I right? :)

Well because of this show I know now that I should marry for the money. This show has totally given me a new perspective on marriage. Screw the romance, the love, and foreverness, I just want some $$$!

No... ha, Cam no one is going to take a show like this and feel differently about marriage.

Good news. The president can't amend the constitution by himself. So that problem's solved. You're kidding!!! Or should I use more exclamation points in order to better pretend that I'm 12, which is the average age of someone who wouldn't know that fact. Figured I wouldn't have to type out the whole process by which the President would have to go to enact his will through a Constitutional amendment, but evidently the "small words, big letters" strategy is still preferred around here.

(So how's that? Did I make up for agreeing with you? ;) )

Right. You should want to marry for money on its own merits, not because of some tv show.

I didn't watch and don't plan to, not because it erodes marriage or anything, just because it looks like quite possibly the stupidest show in the history of civilization.

I don't know that this comment makes any sense given the context of the show.

I agree. They aren't getting married on TV. Or getting married at all. In fact, one of them is an actor, who is sabotaging the whole thing, while the other has no intention of being married on TV. This isn't Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire, this is a practical joke.

As far as the institution of marriage goes, I'm pretty conservative, but a joke where two people tell there friends and family that they are getting maried, just to show the reaction of a family to such an outrageous proposition, doesn't exactly have me worried.

In fact, I remember a time or two, back in my college days, of calling home to tell my mom I'd just gotten married. Just for giggles.

And I liked the show, but I thought the long intro showing what happens in later episodes sucked. The actor plays the part really well, and it makes me wonder what he's like in real life. One of my favorite parts was when he was choking down that sausage at breakfast and she just looked like she was going to puke.

If you want to make a mockery of marriage, make a reality show about Liza Minneli and David Gest.

Oh wait...

I watched the show last night and kind of liked it. I think the Fat, ugly, of a slob "Actor" is going to try to get even with all the pretty girls who ever did him wrong.

BTW--Did they ever explain who's house that is supposed to be? I think that most peaople will know exactly why she is marring him once they see the 10 million dollar home. Couldn't be that hard of sell trying to pawn her off as just another gold-digging bitch!

What's next? "Fool" your loved ones into believing you've got terminal cancer on Monday and will be dead by Friday, and you win a million dollars?

Yes, Fake Funeral. Who ever gets the most family members to fly in wins $500,000.

Actually with all these shows airing after they have been completed, I wonder what shows are being left on the cutting room floor? Or, cancelled before they are completed??

I remember reading an article about proposed yet dropped reality shows.

Some of the ideas were quite humorous,...anyone want to do some research to find the article? (I think it is Newsweek, back when Who Wants to Marry a Millionare came out)

This actor looks like the same guy who went outside and mowed the lawn so he could avoid doing the dishes. but the joke was on him because, by using some great dish washing liquid, washing the dishes was a snap for his wife. She even had time to file her nails while he was still slaving away in the backyard. Dumbass.

You gotta remember that this girl is in a very akward situation. I'm sure she doesn't normally sit around and cry because she's scared of what a guy is gonna do next. I think it hard to accuratley judge someone based on a staged reality show.

Oh and btw, I think that girl is smoking hot.
