EDIT: No longer rough and raw....new link: http://www.younglifenorthdekalb.com/y.wma
I'll be sharing this with the kids this weekend, and perhaps in another more public venue next week. Hope y'all enjoy.

That recording is awful, and my voice is struggling right now (lack of much sleep lately), so in case you can't understand all the lyrics, here ya go:
Two heros fell one winter night, as dark as we have had
A man protects his family, a son defends his dad.<O:p</O:p
And now a widow weeps for shattered dreams and for two who won’t grow old<O:p</O:p
How can she warm her heart again in a world that is so cold?<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
A phone call came. We saw the news. Mom or dad shook us awake.<O:p</O:p
We cried right then. Our jaws did drop. We said, “No! There’s some mistake!”<O:p</O:p
We lost a friend. We lost a coach. Two big smiles forever gone.<O:p</O:p
Some were shocked, some angry, some disbelieved, but we all cried out as one.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
CHORUS<O:p</O:p
Why, oh why did such an awful day come here?<O:p</O:p
God where are you??? How we need to know you’re near!<O:p</O:p
Let your mercy fall. Let your grace come down. Lord, please let us feel your touch.<O:p</O:p
We believe they’re in a better place, but we miss them oh so much.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
I’ve seen the love of Jesus in the way you’ve cared for them<O:p</O:p
To fix a house, to give a hug, or light candles by the gym<O:p</O:p
We’re black. We’re white. We’re young. We’re old. We’re yellow. We are brown.<O:p</O:p
But we all together stand with love in this little Tucker town.
CHORUS
<O:p</O:p
In time we’ll heal. We’ll carry on, but their memories will endure.<O:p</O:p
We’ll take life less for granted, of that we can be sure<O:p</O:p
Because the loving hearts of two great men, will remain with us so true<O:p</O:p
Venables, Winterstein and friends here! Good night, and we love you.
CHORUS<O:p</O:p

Wow. Over 100 views and no comments. Either it sucked, or drew no comment. ;)
At any rate, it is a lot closer now...

There are a couple of places where my voice goes flat, and background vocals need to be added in a few key spots, but I'm pleased so far.

Those are very moving lyrics, Ben. I'm sure that the song will touch all of those who were close to them.

I must have missed the original post and bump. Nicely done.
I was having trouble with the first link, but the second is downloading fine.....

Surprising and humbling development.
The Area Wrestling Tournament is at Tucker this weekend. They're going to do a memorial/remembrance right before the finals, and I've been asked to sing this song there.
I feel both nervous, and honored to do it, at the same time.

Congrats SD. Break a leg, as they say.
