A lot of TV Shows and cartoons have finally found their way to DVD. But many of my old favorites still have not, and probably won't. I would love it if they did though...

Nightstand
Dinosaurs
Thundercats
The Tick (cartoon)

Any other shows that haven't made their way to DVD but should?

I read somewhere that MWC is the only reason anyone gets that FX cable station Fox owns, so they want to keep it exclusive to that. Bastards.

The Tick would be wonderful.

My wife bought a bootleg set of the tapes a few years ago for my Christmas gift. I think she was disappointed with the quality, it was pretty much crap. I loved it though. It was so nice to see the old episodes again eventhough the video was scratchy and the sound garbled.

I think this is one of those things where the creator and whoever owns of the rights hate each other too much to do business though.

I would love to get The Tick. Last I saw, Comedy Central still had their rights. Then again, they haven't shown them in about 3 years. The good news is that Dilbert and The Critic are coming out this week so maybe Duckman and The Tick, two other staples of CC's animation block can't be far behind...? *crosses fingers*

Seinfeld is clearly No. 1. It would also be nice if they speeded up the release of The Simpsons. At the rate they are going, DVD will be an obsolete format before they get to season 8.

Now that Freaks and Geeks is coming, I'm covered on cult faves for a while. Newsradio is soming out this spring. WKRP would be great, but it's going to take a while. The studio that owns the rights has said that it's going to be a struggle to get the music clearances. Miami Vice will be even more of a nightmare. I don't think either show would be the same without the original music.

The first show I'd mention that I haven't seen mentioned yet is the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. There have been rumblings, but nothing yet.

It would also be nice if they speeded up the release of The Simpsons. At the rate they are going, DVD will be an obsolete format before they get to season 8.I have season 1 on DVD. In the preface, Matt Groening says (and I quote) :

"Welcome to the fist of many deluxe overpriced DVD sets of the Simpsons. With 280-odd shows in the can and no end in sight, you might be able to complete your Simpsons DVD collection just before the next format comes along. Thanks for buying!"

(--snip--)

"So enjoy. We've got more Simpsons episodes to make, then broadcast, then re-run, then chop up for syndication, then sell to you on DVD. But you know something? We wouldn't have it any other way!"

your pal, Matt Groening
Gotta give him credit for being honest.

Newsradio's middle seasons are some of the funniest sitcom episodes of all time. Phil Hartman, Steven Root, Dave Foley, and Joe Rogan just clicked. I even enjoyed Andy Dick during that run. I never have re-watched an epiosde after Jon Lovitz became full time.

I would also love to see the middle seasons of Wings and any C.H.I.P.S.

The Seinfeld thing kind of bums me out. Will it be like the Simpsons slow release? I could care less about the Stock Tip, and George's heart attack, or the Chinesse Restaurant. Start in season #3 where the show was actually hilarious.

Newsradio will be awesome. Like someone said, it'll be out this spring -- but it was supposed to be out next week until the creator heard that it was going to be bare bones and offered to add some extras. So hopefully it'll be worth the wait.

Wings is another good one; actually it's on Nick at Nite right now at like 3 am, so I just started taping it since I'm sure it won't last even at that time slot since The Cosby Show and Full House have taken over that network.

No mention of Andy Richter Controls the Universe? That was one of the best shows ever created!

This would only be good for the Unintentional Comedy aspects of it. Not that's he's a great actor now, but those first few years, he was as close as an "actor" can get to having the words whispered in his ear during filming. It was painful, yet funny, to watch. So for that quality, I guess I agree. Otherwise, you've got to be kidding!

Actually, Will Smith was very good at memorizing the script. Too good, really, because he would memorize the entire script. If you watch the early episodes, you'll see him mouth the lines of the other actors as they speak. Now that's funny to watch. :)

Whoa, there was a Silver Surfer tv show? What year was this?

It was a cartoon about five years ago or so. The show was canceed after one season despite decent ratings, first rate scripts, and a classic character. Marvel was having serious financial troubles at the time, if I recall, even though they had done storyboards for the second season,

It features classics like Thanos, Galactus, Adam Warlock and The Watchers.
