I got to walk him around the campus for around 20 minutes before he spoke at my school. A nice guy, not nearly as "high" as he may come off on TV. Pretty down to earth and he was very cordial. Its a shame he's quitting after this year... I asked if I could succeed him, and he said he's heard that a few times... oops. I also watched them film the Nightly News last night while I was setting up for a media dinner today for the Democratic Debate. Unfortuanately only big-spending Dems and esteemed faculty got to attend the debate, but I went to the media dinner tonight and hung out until the debate.

Anyway, I guess being a democrat has its perks and I'm changing my name to IMetTomBrokaw.

only big spending Dems got to attend the debate? Sounds like "the economy of privilege" to me. :(

BTW, the thought of you as a news anchor scares the piss out of me. Go audition for the Progressive Talk Radio network instead. I have a feeling they'll be looking for some new folks in a few months.

Nah, I ahve no problem presenting news so long as there is no need for an opinion, and personally, I'm fed up with everyone in politics Dems or Reps... however, Al Sharpton kicked ass in the debate tonight. He was funny, but even at the same time made some very good points. Kerry didn't do much of anything. Edwards was "charming" and probably did the second best. Kucinich got testy with Tom on a question, but seeing as how he's just standing by the side, he "represented" well. Leibermann... I don't know, he came off well for standing for his beliefs, but they aren't mine, but still did well. Clark was just kind of there and seemed to do his usual "Bush sucks, but I have nothing else." Who am I forgetting? Oh right, Dean... he looked like he A) didn't want to be there or B) had a giant lizard stuck in his ass.

I was tempted to go to Barley's (a local drinking hole) after the debate because Clark was supposed to be there... maybe I could heckle him and get drunk... my roommate went though.

I should rephrase "high-spending", as its more the party big-wigs... God knows the price tickets would go for if they actually charged.

As opposed to, say, a trout.

No, a trout would be too kind.

Oklahoma Gays for Clark are having an open house tomorrow night, but Clark himself won't be there. Wes Jr. will be.

Interesting that Sharpton did so well. I've heard it estimated that almost half those voting in S.C. next Tuesday will be black voters. Without meaning to play the race card, I wonder how divided the vote will be between those who want to vote for a black candidate and those who support Kerry because of Clyburn's endorsement.

On another note, I talked with Lieberman this morning and once again was struck by what a decent man he appears to be. I don't agree with his domestic policies, but he seems to fall more into the category of "statesman" rather than "politician" for me. Can't explain it, other than his somewhat independent streak and calm demeanor.

That's right. You take a stroll with Brokaw, we'll keep the White House. Works for me. :p

From what I hear, Sharpton could get anywhere from 10-15% of the vote, maybe more depending on how many blacks vote. Everything I hear (and unfortunately I've been bombarded with this stuff for the past 2 weeks) is that Clyburn's vote shouldn't help Kerry too much, but who knows. I was impressed by Sharpton. He's a loudmouth, but its not always all flash as he is often perceived... I'd gladly vote for him over the other people running just becuase he actually seemed to care about what he said, and it was no worse/if not better than what the others said. Unfortunately we live in a culture where he is basically seen as a joke. And I'm glad Liebermann is a very nice guy, he seems like it, I just haven't liked most of his policies.

And ther are Oklahoma gays for Clark? Hmmm.

Well, I'm from South Carolina, so I have very little say as to who goes to the White House, barring a huge shift in support for Bush in the state.

Personally, I think South Carolina needs to stay out of Politics
