View Full Version : A Golden Scribes EMERGENCY: I screwed up the ballot for the Dynasty of the Year vote

I just discovered this MAJOR oversight as I was casting my votes. I cannot believe it (and the conspiracy theorists are going to have a field day with this (GSG))... I accidentally left X-Com off of the list for Dynasty of the Year, which is ironic because it is by far my favorite dynasty ever.

I figured out that it happened because I ordered the finalists by their number of nominations when I tallied the votes. X-Com had a large lead over all other contestants, so I set it apart while trying to figure out what to do with the other finalists (as in, should I let everyone who got a nomination be a finalist, or impose a cut-off number of votes required to be a finalist). In the end, I decided to let everyone who received a nomination be listed as a finalist. However, I missed X-Com because it had been moved up a couple spaces above all the other nominees in my printout of the tallies.

The only reason I noticed it was because I went to vote for X-Com as Dynasty of the Year... and was shocked to see it was not in the list!

I think this demands a revote for just this category. Out of utter incompetence on my part, I left the heavily-favored finalist off of the list in one of the most important categories. Idiot!!!

My apologies to everyone, but please, send in your votes one more time for this category. I can not apologize enough for this screw-up... I will extend the voting deadline for this category until next Monday at 6 CST.

The e-mail addresses to send your votes to are [email protected] and [email protected]. Please send your revote and bail poor, incompetent Kodos out of a jam... :(

Kodos, Kodos, Kodos.

*sigh*

This one is just too easy. Don't worry, I'm not going to kick you while you are down. It seems as if you already recognize the fact that you screwed up royally. In fact, you said it best:

Out of utter incompetence on my part, I left the heavily-favored finalist off of the list in one of the most important categories. http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/~fof/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif Idiot!!!
I have nothing further to add.

Thanks for being gentle, GSG, and thanks to all who have revoted. Sorry again for the screwup. :(

It's not easy being green.

I didn't change it, but sent the vote for #18 anyway.

That's fine. I am pretty much going to go through the list and compare revotes with the first vote. So if Poster A voted for one dynasty the first time, but then sent in a different vote the second time, I will disregard Poster A's first vote. If a poster is happy with their original vote, they don't really need to send in the same vote a second time. I will just go ahead and count all original votes that weren't followed up by a different second vote. Although I would feel better if you did send a revote just so I know that people didn't miss this development.

Hope that makes sense.

That's ok, Kodos. No biggie here.

I could easily see the same thing happening to you when we make final mission to Mars in X-COM. I'd probably have you set off to the side as a "definite" member of the force, then start to figure out everyone else, then forget to put you back in. Yup, I could easily see that happening. Very easily. Simple thing to do, really. So very simple.

;)

In all seriousness, don't worry about it at all. I understand.

Hey, if getting set aside means I don't die, then that's not a bad proposition for me. ;)

Thanks for being understanding. I was horrified last night when I figured out what I had done...
