OK gang--the Front Office (Super) Bowl is over, and you know what that means . . .report card time.
THE GAMES: 99
Jim released the best version of FOF to date. It is still not perfect, but it's a good, good game. FOF has multiplayer. Did anyone honestly think that we would ever see that day? Regardless of your personal preferences, you have to admit that a lot of people got their wish with FOF 2004. And this board goes way beyond FOF, now. Herb won't comment as much on games that he does not like--but will throw props out to FBCB. Heavy Reign--you rock!
FORUM PUZZLES/POKER TALK--85
We are in sort of a dark age for puzzles. Everysoften there is a flurry of activity--but nothing like the days of Monty Hall. I don't, however, like to give out low scores, so I will include poker talk in this evaluation. Lots of good stuff to learn here. It's no 2+2, but we do a pretty good job. Herb is glad that money is flowing from stupid people to Vegas Vic. It's kind of like water flowing downhill--it just seems right.
FACILITIES--95
I wonder if our upgrade to the new version of vbulletin was timed to influence this review? If so, it worked. What you see is what you get.
DYNASTY POSTING--100
From last year's review:
"Ol' Herb gets a little extra spring in his step on Sundays when he gets to ref a game with Marty Gage or Al Coble. And don't tell the Competition Committee, but Herb also does his best to make the questionable calls against Jerry Jones whenever he can. The Golden Scribes said it all, so Herb won't say it again, but WOW. This is the era of the dynasty. Herb implores everyone to put these gems on their hard drive while you have the chance. Just delete some porn--Lord knows you have the room."
I don't really have much more to say than that. Some of the most compelling stories on the web. Walk on, Ardent. Walk on.
COMPETITION--N/A
Herb is still waiting for the competition to come back more powerful than ever before he makes a call on this one.
CIVILITY--95
It says something that there was a video game draft thread and a gay marriage thread on the front page at the same time and the video game draft thread is the one that almost went out of control. People seem to know to pull their punches on issues that really matter. It's still the internet, but I am amazed that we are as nice to each other as we are.
FOF ANALYSIS--90
FOF 2004 showed us that there are still people who love this game and are willing to speculate about it. The Kitty Hawk flyers figured out some things about nickel package substitution that are pretty interesting. And QS has managed to quantify the value of receivers pretty well.
UTILITIES--200
Herb thanks all of you who are making 3rd party utilities to make our gaming that much better. Hats off to you.
LEADERSHIP--100
SkyDog is tough, fair, and funny. No complaints from the Herbmeister.
MISC--05
Wig came back, and Kodos still has not left.
Kidding ;)
Herb wishes that MMR and IWS were more regular, since he has the floor.
OVERALL: 95
Great year. See y'all again at the end of the next Super Bowl.
