I am working on a project for a class that has to do with quality websites. I have to have several different websites to draw on ideas from. If you would (since I am looking for differnet opinions) post a link (remove the http and make it hxxp) to the site. I am looking for a simple, yet attractive layout.

I've always enjoyed The Onion's website. Simple layout, and lots of good stuff on the first page so you don't have to click around. Everything else is one click away.

Lots and lots of cool designs here: hxxp://www.mezzoblue.com/zengarden/alldesigns/
Basically all these webmasters take the exact same content and come up with different ways to display it.
This one takes a while to load all the pictures, but is really, really cool: hxxp://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfile=http://www.timpelen.com/extra/zen/zengarden.css

Dola, one more from one of the masters of web design: hxxp://www.meyerweb.com/eric/css/edge/ You need a standards compliant browser to view it corrrectly though.

One website I've been very impressed with (in terms of design) is the website for the movie Donnie Darko, at www.donniedarko.com
If you haven't seen the movie you'll have NO idea what's going on, and even if you have seen it it's kind of strange, but the website plays on the movie's ideas of alternate time streams, etc. You can get to little niches of the site by clicking on barely noticeable things, you have to have passwords to move through the site, that you discover by exploring, etc.

I'd say http://www.timecube.com/ gives them a run for the money - for content alone if not design.
