View Full Version : FOFC Member Draft
Franklinnoble

I said "member"....
This is pretty self-explainatory. Just like picking teams for kickball in elementary school, we're going to have 10 people draft teams of other FOFC members.
The rules are:
1. First ten people to post their interest here do the drafting.
2. You don't have to draft yourself - it's assumed that you're on your own team already.
3. You can draft any FOFC member. Past or present.
4. Each pick will be rated at the end of every round. The criteria for rating picks will be determined later, and is open for some limited discussion - but I reserve the right to have the final say. I'm thinking we rate each pick on number of posts, overall recognition, community contribution, insightfulness, and publicity. More on these later...
5. There will be 4 rounds. That's 40 members - enough to include all the "f---ing elitists" and room for some fringe picks, but limited enough to "keep it real."
6. No trolling or whining, please. Have fun with it, but don't be a little b!tch.
I want to be drafted!!! I can confirm I will be drafted.

We could go 10 rounds or have say... 15-20 people.
40 members does not do enough justice to an FOFC draft.

Why not?
Anyhow... I'm declaring myself ineligible, so I can't draft, or be drafted.

With the way they pay a guy like Van Horn, just imagine how much the Knicks would pay for your services. I'd say 6 years, 70 million. And I'm not going any lower if this other league decides to pick you, the FOFC, or whatever it's called.
That's 17.5mil for me. Glad to be your agent, sir.

You all want Coffee. The man is a warlord and crazy as hell. Most people fight over land, oil, bithces and broads. But not this man, he is all about the coffee, the funny hate and trying to bring his second company down in about as many years. The man will bankrupt your team, but will provide you with numerous funny pictures and a story of women purchasing vibrators. Sadly no pictures because he will be too busy playing pocket pool with a chimp named barbara. Bushy tail.
I got nothing.
I am hiring The Afoci as my agent as well.

What can a man say about Ardent Enthusiast? Besides that he is in the Navy, was one time trapped on a boat with only men for what seemed like years... Now as much as that sounds like the story line to an upcoming gay porn film, it isn't. Well actually it may, but not one starring him. It would be unfair to everyone else I represent. Everyone knows you have to star in Donkey Porn and Midget Porn before moving up to Gay Porn. Even if you are in the Navy. Anywho, AE is a simple man from Bonne Terre. A man coming from a town which sounds like an injury one could recieve from gay porn should be drafted highly in this draft. As your draftee, he will forever be your slave. Rumor has it, this simple man was programmed by the government and is now some sort of electronics expert. He could probably build you a robot.

I need ten people to draft teams. Therefore, the next ten people who post a single reply to this thread that reads "Dean Houston has a trout in his rectum." will be the franchise owners doing the drafting. I'll then randomly assign the draft order, and the agents can pimp their clients until the draft actually starts.
If there is a double reply, does that disqualify you?
Franklinnoble
02-05-2004, 12:15 PM
If there is a double reply, does that disqualify you?
No, but obviously, you can only have one franchise. As I said earlier, by owning a franchise, you're automatically a member of it. This takes some of the fun out of being drafted, but I think that's a reasonable sacrifice to make in order to be one of the guys doing the drafting.

Well, since we're still waiting for more team owners to start drafting, let's rate the #1 overall pick:
The Afoci
A bold selection to get the draft started. Here's how our panel of experts (that would be myself, a stapler, and a half eaten Baby Ruth candy bar) rate this pick:
Number of posts: Well over 3,600. Respectable, but not Kickstand-esque. We'll call this a 7
Overall recognition: He's visible enough to be known on most of the forums - even over in Hattrick. Definately a 9
Community contribution: He gets points for good humor and dynasty contributions, but this category is typically reserved for guys who do big things like moderate a forum or write utilites, etc. So, basically, he's got nothing. 4
Insightfulness: I'm sure animal lovers consider his work a must-read. This one's a 6
Publicity: I don't know about you, but I always want to read threads he's posting in. He's like one of those lunatics that runs around in the street wearing a lime green leotard while carrying on a conversation with a chinchilla wearing nylons; you can't help but look. 10
Overall Score: 36

Coffee Warlord is a complete poster on the board. When it comes to the FranklinNoble breakdown, CW should provide you with numerous points. At 2600 post, he is contributor that cannot be denied. The man is well known for his pic with a hat. His recognition is through the roof. Not only that, he has taken down two companies in as many years. Give or take. Not only that, at well over 7'6", 953 lbs with 3% body fat, this man runs the 40 in well under three seconds. But 40 feet really isn't that far...

Think of the publicity I can bring being the first overall pick. That is all coming to you baby!

Quicksand...the man is a legend around here and #1 poster(though half his got deleted)...he is a master of running games, and his posts are always helpful, insightful, or make a strong point. Who else will pick?
That's 3 out of the 10 teams.

terpkristen
Terpkristen?!? Wow... I mean, wow. That's either a Wilt Chamberlain pick or a Doug Christie pick... Either he's trying to get some, or he already is, and he wants to keep getting it... or he's just being a nice guy and we can take that at face value. Anyhow, here's our expert analysis:
Number of posts: I dunno. Somebody look this up for me. I'm guessing we'll rate this a 4
Overall recognition: Practically unheard of outside the Hattrick forum. Sorry, but this has to be a 3
Community contribution: I'm assuming she must be making some contribution, at least to AE. ;) 4
Insightfulness: She's solid when it comes to what she does post about. We'll call it a 9
Publicity: Ahh, the great equalizer. Let's face it, she's a woman, and all it would take is one bikini photo to make her very, very popular.10

Definately worthy of a top 3 pick, and maybe should have gone higher. Here's our rating:
Number of posts: Come on... he's lost more posts than most of us will ever make. 10
Overall recognition: He's everywhere, just about... although I don't think he does Hattrick. Do we hold that against him? Maybe just a little bit...9
Community contribution: Not only are his posts numerous, they're usually purposeful. And who doesn't like the puzzles? His strategic contributions to the FOF players here have been substantial. 9

Not the pick I expected - we had him as a late first rounder.

Overall recognition: Well known for his cameo appearances on a FOX sitcom.8
Community contribution: He's actually cut down on the number of polls he posts - that's a contribution to the community. 7
Insightfulness: You can't put a number on the value of an alien perspective, but we're doing it anyway. 7

Number of posts: Over 5,700 - but he could give himself as many as he likes. 9
Overall recognition: No contest. He's the H.N.I.C. 10
Community contribution: Again, no contest. 10
Insightfulness: Sorry, but you're losing points for being a thread-killer hater, and for killing the QOTM. 6

Where's The Afoci - he promised me top ten and it is the 4th round!?!?! Worst . . . agent . . . ever.
Yes, indeed you are sucking. Truth is, The Afoci has yet to call me, IM me, or PM me to try and pimp any of his, well, "members".

Welcome to the team, ardentrules. This FOFC member, I might add, is not me. :)
Shorty already drafted me (thank you by the way, it's quite an honor to join you and The Afoci so early). Though if we're drafting each multiple account seperately I'm pretty sure every owner can draft me. Anyone seen Calzone around?

I would like to draft my member.

Crapt. The truth comes out. It was you?? I guess I'm still up. *scampers away to draft someone else*
Sends Coffee Warlord to curse mckerney for this situation.
Current draft selections:
Shorty3281: The Afoci, Mckerney, Maple Leafs, MattJones4Heisman,
AE: terpkristin, punkin, Hulsey. next pick.
Blade6119: Quiksand, Frogman, illinifan999.
Airhog: Kodos, Marmel, Subby.

You could've still drafted me... :(
*Looks for rule book. Doesn't find one.*
Fine, ardentrules, it is!

I think ardententhusiast must think this is a high-low game.
Thanks for drafting me, Jeeber. What does that get me anyway? :)

With my next pick, i take Shorty. I hereby have completed the coolness trifecta(me, illini, and shorty), and will now rule the world with our amazing U-20 powers!

Good lord son! How many times do we have to tell you that YOU CAN'T DRAFT DRAFTERS!
You, AE, Shorty, Airhog, and myself (and maybe Franklin also) are all OFF LIMITS.

I now pick Ardent Entusiast! He is my Missouri brother and also a navy pansie boy. I win again!

dola, i will actually pick WSU Cougar. he is the game master here at FOFC, and also a solid leader. He has set-up many things here at FOFC, and also has helped many members. He is also a Pac-10 fan, but i think i can forgive him.

The dark horse of the draft needs an agent. I need someone to get me a fair deal, not the last dollar.
My stats:
1) First ever winner of Sab's Playoff Pick 'Em Game (thats gotta count for something)
2) Run a 4.5 - 40 (should 4 1/2 minutes be 4.5 or 4.30? )
3) 300 lb bench press (30 lbs 10 times)
4) <100 posts - ok that just means that i'm not a troublemaker. I learn, not teach.
5) I can help a team with my wisdom, hence the name Silver Owl.
Any qualified agents may respond,
Thank you.

hmm there are still plenty of great members out there, not to be confused with those of you that have a great member.
I am surprised this person wasnt drafted earlier. He is arguably one of the greatest posters to ever grace this board with his presence. Very few people have left their mark upon this board moreso then this man or child. With the 19th pick overall, and the 3rd pick in the 4th round, I give you none other then the one, the only, the great legend...
Hornsmaniac
His is cocky enough to be a legend on the field, and funny enough to be a legend off.

I can only hope that we draft more then the original 4 rounds. The idea was to have 40 picks, since their is 5 of us picking, I hope we can do 10 rounds now.

Yeah, I think ten rounds would be fun. Not sure I can really keep up with rating all these picks, though. I say we just draft away, and then I'll post a poll when it's done that people can vote on.

I think Airhog should be automatically disqualified for his last pick. Good god...
With the final pick in the fourth round, Team JeeberD selects...

Every team need a fucking loony Canadian. He was my Threadkiller buddy, he's a huge Taco Bell fan, plus I understand that he actually contributes to both HT and hockey threads (not that I actually read either of those things)...

To fill out our starting lineup, Team Shorts selects Neuqua, the fine young man from Parts Unknown.
He smells pretty.
With the 2nd pick of the 5th round, I draft: HerRealName.

This is fun. Now if there were just more people on the board that I knew in real life, this would be even better!

Well, just so he shuts the hell up ill take Target Practice 6...he is the current U-20 coach for team USA in HT(i know a really good 17 year old defender...PM me;) ) He is also an annoying Kentucky boy(Kentucky, Keeping it in the family for 100 years). Hopefully he will now buy all my players(i got a magnificient keeper...you know you want him), and proceed to make me the next U-20 coach!

Best draft so far is a toss up between Shorty and Ardent, though there's still a chance for the rest of you to pick one of me.

Pick number 5 for me, and pick number 22 in the draft. Quite a few egos have yet to be stroked. And I have no intention of stroking The Afoci's ego. I refuse to act like a golden llama. There are just so many juicy picks out there this is going to be a tough one. And I do have one of the most star studded teams out there.
This person needs no introduction, a man of class and great stature. He strove to play the devils advocate, which is quite fitting, given his status as a lawyer. Some people hate him, and some people really hate him. That is why we are very happy to select as our next pick...
