Thats another potential cause that I've read about, but that most leads to conjoined twins, this is slightly different. But they believe the cases when the twin becomes parasitic is usually caused when the 2nd baby is either completely "swallowed" by the other child, or in this case, attatches itself as a means of survival.

A 14 yearold in Grand Marais Minnesota was diagonised with bone cancer on his birthday. He spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in a hospital getting treatment.
