View Full Version : Worst 4-game stretch ever for a Darkiller-lead FOF team

This is the first time it happened to me in a FOF career, with the powerful offensive squads that I usually have year in year out, I couldn't believe what I saw:

For the record (this the now famour Real49ersFootball career), San Francisco is coming off a SuperBowl title and seemed poised at a second in a row.

- my starting QB, Eric Misner, now entering his prime and coming off a world championship and All-League caliber season, has just 1 TD pass in the first 4 games of the year ! (I'm almost certain this is an all-time low for any of my starting QBs in this career over a 4-game stretch)

- my two starting WRs, both perennial All-Leaguers, have combined for only 20 catches in 4 games.

needless to say I'm quite surprised and disapointed so far. Hopefully we will turn the season around.

Yuck, sounds ugly. Were you playing solid defensive teams or was the offense just not getting started?

No I think it's more of our offense not getting started.
I have the #1 offense the league every year basically, so those "good defensive" teams that I play can't be the reason for us sputtering like do right now.
I have had quite an amount of injuries so it sure didn't help but the "key" starters were fine so no excuses.

:D

I'll see how everything pans out over the next 12 games.
The season's not lost yet ! not with these 49ers (defending champs ;) )

I'm not familiar with FOF2 but could be a preseason thing ? You know, like in FOF2004 where you set the team events in the preaseason too low, and then you take a cohesion hit and it takes a few games for your team to 'click'. I know I've had it happen to me a couple of times... Just last season with my Minnesota Norseman, I started 1-7 before going undefeated for the next 8 games and clinching my division...

I had a recent season where the opposite happened, froggies. My team was rocking along, went 8-1 to start out the season, then a season-ending injury to my idolized, many-strong-affinities veteran QB and it all went to hell, I ended up 9-7 and out of the playoffs. Have never seen a team so completely fall apart after one injury before, but clearly he was holding it all together.

And to make things worse, your QB was probably lost for most of the following season too, right ?

humm...interesting.
Actually I haven't tweaked my pre-season process and it is exactly the same as previous seasons and the results have been convincing (16 Superbowl titles and 18 NFC championships in 33 years of play  ) so I'm not too sure about that.

The one thing that amazed me in these first four games was how that potent offense was made so ineffective although my cohesion ratings were good with my team pretty much the same as the one that won the SuperBowl the previous season.
But you're right that sometimes, for whatever reasons then, everything starts to click at some point. I'll update this post tonight with the follow-up of that 2032 season.

Actually no, he came back pretty much normal, and they went on to lose in the Super Bowl the next year. Soon after I changed teams in my dynasty and the AI shredded my carefully cultivated roster and released or traded most of the players.

Ok here’s the final feedback of the 2032 NFL season :<O:p</O:p

The offense began to work on all cylinders, scoring 468 pts. San Francisco finished 12-4, NFC West champions with Homefield advantage.<O:p</O:p

In the Playoffs, we had a tough divisional round against New York before killing the Lions in the NFC Title game, and crushing Denver Broncos 34-3 in the SuperBowl :) <O:p</O:p

That’s a 2nd straight SuperBowl win for us. I’m ecstatic.<O:p</O:p

QB Eric Misner rebounded well, finishing with 30 TD passes and 4012 yards (rating 89.3) and earn SuperBowl MVP honors.<O:p</O:p

Here are a few funny notes from this past season :<O:p</O:p

- in game 3, we lost to Carolina Panthers at home by a score of 3-6...then, a few weeks later (week 11) in the rematch at Carolina, San Francisco defeats the Panthers in a shootout 51-33 !!!<O:p</O:p
- In this game, RB Joel Hanson had 22 carries for 306 yards (2 yards shy of the all-time record), 2TDs...and added 5 catches for 95 yards and another receiving TD !!! <O:p</O:p
- The 49ers were a perfect 8-0 on the road...but only 4-4 at home (including 3 home losses to Division rivals, ouch): pretty unusual for an eventual SuperBowl champion.
- San Francisco scored 30+ points in 10 of the last 12 games.<O:p</O:p
