I have - not worth it - no career mode. Not worth playing.

I have the 2001 version. It's a good game to play and does a good job doing season replays and the like. They tried to implement career play in more recent versions, but I don't know how successful they've been. Has a good number of seasons for college and pro. But, it's not cheap, which is why I haven't just bought newer versions of the game in recent years.

I think it is good for what it is, but it's more of a coaching sim than a GM/career-type sim, which is why I quit playing it years ago as soon as I discovered one of the early editions of FOF. I enjoyed playcalling on it and thought the realism was good.

edit - when I played it there was no career mode.

Career mode is VERY weak and not worth using.
