That's because he 'casts' the spell 10 times. If you look carefully, he also throws something yellow (tennis bowl ? dart ?) at the same time...

Note to self: Get some ping pong balls. Bring them to meeting. When pointy-haired boss says something dumb, start casting lightning-bolt.

Quick, Find one where they are playing Vampire: the Masquerade. Then, we'll have some real fun. WE'll get the same nerds dressed up as Goths and rying to be cool.
I really liked the clapping person at the end. Also, Mr. Lightning's kilt was a ball of laughs.

What the hell was that? That was wrong on so many levels.
The high pitched "lightning bolt" guy had a bald spot, what was he 35?

I have been to one of these events (a number of years ago). You would be shocked that the male/female ratio is close to 50/50. Some of the girls were pretty hot, too. It does look as geeky in real life as it does on video though. :)

a few comments...
-there are several girls in that video - at least 4 of them.
-this video clip has been on the web for years.
-Ogres have too many HD to be affected by sleep.
-wizards can't cast 8 lightning bolt spells until they are well over 30th level using 2nd edition rules.

Agreed. Also, just before the end of the fight, the last ogre to die, knocked someone to the ground, dead, I imagine. I didn't hear anybody cast 'revive'! Now if all went well, the ogre could have been leveling up, but he didn't get the kill! Too bad for the ogres, I was rooting for them.

Putting aside for a moment the question of what sort of people find this fun... how do you even do something like this? I mean, what are the logistics? I can understand playing D&D with dice and pencils, but to actually go out and do it...
Is there a referee who keeps an eye on things? Is someone making sure that wizard man doesn't use too many lightning bolts? Is the ogre expected to keep track of his hit points? What's to stop some level one bard from delivering a mighty kick to the nuts and ending the battle right away?
The mind boggles...

I think the guy casting lightning bolt cheated. His initiative should be lower than the ogre and he clearly is acting before the ogre has a chance to respond. CHEATER!

Would have been even better if somebody had caught a "lightning bolt" and thrown it right back at that guy. Definitely poor form if it hits him and he doesn't go down.
I think this was set up.
That wasn't a real ogre.

That's why the camera shut off. The real ogres came and killed everyone, even the camera crew.

Well, I hate to incriminate myself, but seeing how Im prepping the Game Store I work at for the local Geek Convention, I know a little bout this. I actually years ago did a thing kinda like it. Its called NERO. (New England Roleplaying Association). Im pretty sure they have a website. Its actually a pretty cool concept in a lot of ways, just lacks in...delivery.

I played this clip in my high school class. They made me play it about 10 times. Other students kept coming and asking to see the 'lightning bolt' video.
Now some students are going around throwing paper wads at other students yelling 'lightning bolt, lightning bolt!!' (disclaimer: only others in the know are being pelted. No students were hurt in the paper wad remake of this event.)

I keep watching it, and I can't figure out which is funniest:
- "Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!"
- The fact the lightning bolt #2 sails past the ogre and hits his own guy in the face, "killing" him
- The guy/girl (?) at the beginning who runs in, does an elaborate sword swinging routine, then retreats without hitting anyone and isn't seen again
- "Sleep!"
- The girl at the end doing the sad little "yay" clapping routine

You are obsessed...
I'll add the fact that you see the setting with a basketball hoop that by all accounts hasn't seen a shot in about 17 years...
Although after watching it again the sword swinger at the beginning seems to have frozen up after seeing the launch of the lightning bolts...that's funny...

You are obsessed...The clip is gold. I could analyze this thing like the Zapruder film.
I can just picture the reaction of the one guy who doesn't get any experience points for the ogre slaying because his buddy hit him with a lightning bolt. I wonder if they ever spoke again. I bet it was a quiet ride home in mom's car.

yeah, just go to the videos portion of the website.
PVP had a running gag about LARP (live action role-play) a few weeks ago. I actually did a google search and found at least THREE groups in Northern Virginia.
I now have a mental image of Dennis Kucinich and Trent Lott now playing this together.
