Maybe its just me, but I hate the option 1-4 on the rookie Negotiation. The guys never take options 1 and 3, and Option 2 very very rarely. Essentially the only choice you have is option 4, the short expensive one. This sucks.

Sure they do, "most" 1ST rounder won't take option 1 but some will. Almost all later pics take the 1st option, I think it depends on their agents "stubborn negotiator" rating (for the early rounders).

I've found that low stubborn negotiator rating agents are harder to deal with than high ones. Greedy baste-tards!

In some 50 seasons of play, most of them with more than basic allotment of draft picks, (I trade down quite often) I don't believe I've signed even a dozen guys to that contract. Virtually everyone in the last three rounds will sign the cheapest way virtually every year. Or at least for me they do. Maybe it's just my winning personality or something ;)

Yeah for me it's mostly the first rounders that you have to option 4. The later rounders will usually take option 1. What I dislike though, is the fact that there's no change over time. You can start "negotiating" with a top draft pick before training camp, and in week 15 he'll still be rejecting everything but option 4. I have seen this happen multiple times with top 5 picks.

Also, try working your way backwards when doing rookie negotiations. If, for some reason, your third rounder holds out for anything but option #1, all of the other picks will hold out as well. Last night, I got MY 1st rounder (#3) overall DE stud to sign for the 2nd option. So, it really appears to be luck of the draw

Yeah, it definitely has something to do with the order that you sign rookies. Once one guy refuses a lesser contract, then all the rest of the unsigned guys refuse lesser contracts.
