Personally, I don't like this move at all - but I know some of you have been clamoring for this for quite some time. Now if I could evoke some more needed changes I would have the Panthers switch to their blue jerseys as their standard home, and have the Seahawks pretend this new uniform thing never happened, going right back to the old ones.
http://atlantafalcons.com/team/006/397/
The Atlanta Falcons today announced a change to their uniform specifications for the 2004 season. The team will switch its primary ‘home’ jersey to red after wearing black at home for the past 14 seasons. The Falcons will continue to wear white pants during the 2004 campaign. The black jersey will serve as the team’s alternate third jersey.
The Falcons first wore red jerseys in 1971 and kept them all the way through the 1989 season. Declared the team’s alternate third jersey in 2003, red jerseys were worn twice last season, against the Tennessee Titans on November 23 (http://atlantafalcons.com/gameday/001/625/) and again in a nationally-televised 20-14 overtime win against the Carolina Panthers on December 7 (http://atlantafalcons.com/gameday/001/627/).
“I’m a big fan of the red jerseys,” offered Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, who made his first start of the 2003 season against Carolina and rushed for 141 yards. “They’ve got a really nice look to them. I know that our fans love them, too.”
Last year the Falcons introduced a new logo and changed their uniforms for the first time since 1990. The home uniforms consisted of black jerseys and white pants, while the road attire featured white jerseys and white pants. The team also introduced modified versions of the uniforms, which included wearing black jerseys with black pants at home and white jerseys with black pants on the road.

Cool....now if they could bring back the red helmet!
I agree with you completely on the Panthers uni's, I love that color blue. I think Tennessee should go with that as well.

I really do think the Panthers blue just destroys the black as a home uni (and gives them a far more unique look).

Ugh, I couldn't help but do a side-by-side with the Seahawks' jerseys. This things really would be instant selections for an "ugly uniform mount rushmore."

"Hmm, lets get dingier and murkier looking. Also be sure to make the uniforms as hideous as possible and be sure to include a neon color that will seem like an especially horrible choice in just a few short years."

OK, I can't believe this.
I grew up south of Atlanta, going to Falcon games thru the 70's. I loved the old uniforms. The uniforms the Falcons have now are the worst ever, I mean EVER in the NFL. They look like an XFL team.
At least going back to red is a start. But man, that logo. And the stupid stripes. Good god, it sucks.
Now that I am thinking about it...
You know why they had the origional uniforms designed the way they were? Because they wanted local support early, so they copied the Georgia Bulldogs color scheme. Then Jerry Elvis came along...and now this retro crap.
Hey, thanks for listening...I feel better!

Yeah, bring back the old logo too. Why mess with the best logo is sports? Still, this is a step in the right direction. :)

Meh, I quite like the change to the Seahawk uni's, especially the 'tougher' look of the bird. To each their own, just as long as they don't keep wearing the dark pants with the dark jersey's.

How about the Lions adding a black stripe? I think it looks like an ass-out way to make a uni change. The Lions look at their best when they go throwback. Best way to change the Lions uni's? Go with a darker blue (like the Seahags used to use) loose th black stripe. Revert to the 60's look of the gray numbers with white stripes. loose the stupid silver stripes on the sleeves.

I agree totally! Darker blue w/silver (including silver numbers!), lose the white and black altogether! Keep the blue Lion on the helmet without any white or black and white outline.

This trend with all the black is as bad as the 'AFL white hemet" trend of the 70s or the "Teal-Blue" trend of the 90s. All 'trends' are usually bad, as they wind up looking all alike. The all-black Falcon's look always made me think of the Oklahoma Outlaws of the USFL. Originality counts. Always thought a good look would be dark green jerseys with gold numbers/helmets. Point is do something different! Maybe it all just points to the very conservative (corporate-speaking, not political) of the NFL ownership. You know, everybody must wear gray/blue/black suites.

LOL, knew someone would hit me with that! So if the color is not Blue/Black/Red it automatically has to come from the rainbow crowd? Quick history: When Lombardi took over as coach of Redskins in 1969 he had helmet changed to yellow because it reminded him of Packer's success. Lombardi=yellow?=secret fruit? :D

I also think that the new Seahawks unis are better than the old ones.

I don't mind the Falcon's new reds. Looks alright to me. Though their was nothing wrong with the unis in the 90s.
I like the Carolina Blue... and the Seahawks new unis would be good if they wore white pants.
Oh, and it doesn't matter WHAT uni Tennessee wears, it is all ugly.

I actually like the newer Seatle unis. The neon is a pretty unique idea. Now for my team, the Colts, they need to do something to spice up their unis. Maybe add some black or something. If we expect them to play tough they need atleast somewhat tough-looking uniforms.

The retro look is great, especially with the high, solid blue socks. They always seem to play well in them too.
That being said, a switch to those uniforms would render mine, and my twin's, names obsolete on this board. That can't happen. Honolulu_Blue and Honolulu Blue must survive!

Oh my gosh, more black! Now there is a thinker!! Lets just make ALL team colors black and visitors can wear white jerseys. Then they all look tough!! :p (How in the heck did those panzy Colts, Jets, Packers, ect... win all those Super Bowls without black?)

NOOOOOOOO!!! The only thing that the Colts need to do to their uniforms is to get them dirty. Domes suck. Turf sucks. Imagine Art Donovan with a pristine white jersey... Doesn't work, does it?

They should have an alternate logo to go with the orange jersey. I'm thinking something orange with a dagger in its teeth and a large plume... Something Lee Roy Selmon could appreciate!

The orange fins unis looked okay when i saw just one. When you see a whole bunch of them next to each other you start looking around for shotguns and the turkey.

Ah, but Art Donovan was a BALTIMORE Colt. And yes, I'm still bitter after 20 years. And no, I still can't relate to the Ravens, as they are just the Cleveland Browns with purple uniforms.

So you'd advocate say a pinkish hue?
"Does she have a pinkish hue?"
"A pinkish hue?!!"
"Yes, a rosy glow"
"There's a hue!"
"Let me ask you this...if I stick my hand in her hair would I be able to get it out?"
"Do you want to be able to get it out?"
"I would like to be able to get it out."
"I think you'll get it out."
Can you guys identify these quotes?

It's the Seinfeld episode where George is fixed up with Elaine's friend, played by the same actress that played Chandler's ex Janice on Friends (and I think is now on Raymond as the friend Raymond would like to serve as Deborah's replacement should she, uh, meet her demise)..

It's from the Seinfeld episode where they were setting up George on a blind date. The irony is his concern with hair, as he had none himself. At the time I found it funny - maybe I've soured since then :).

I understand your dilema. Cleveland got its Browns back. Baltimore got a team named after a bird that feeds off the dead. Imagine how good Ray Lewis would look in the blue & white! When I brought up Art Donovan (FATSO is one of my favorite books) I did so knowing he was a Baltimore Colt and that the possibility of the Colts name returning to where it belongs grows dimmer each year. Modell had the chance to purchase the name "Colts" and the logo, colors, etc. but was too cheap. I think I remember Irsay wanted $20 mil and Modell offered $5. They should have agreed to do the proper thing and allow the "Colts" name to return to where it belongs. Indy (or L.A. as the possibility exists) could easily have a new name. If Indy does move they should have to forfeit the Colts name and allow it to return to Baltimore. Oakland has its Raiders. Cleveland has its Browns. Baltimore should have its Colts!
