Ok,
I have the following coach
Craig Barrios (13715343) http://195.149.159.154/Common/images/bookmark_16x16.gif (http://195.149.159.154/Common/bookmarks.asp?action=AddConfirm&BookmarkTypeID=2&ObjectID=13715343) 50 years, inadequate form, healthy
A passable coach who is defensive minded
A sympathetic guy who is temperamental and honest.
Has brilliant experience and passable leadership abilities.
Anyways, I have had him since the old coaching method, his leadership has yet to drop. I am expecting it any day now.
However, I am just now situated in a pretty nice Forward training program next season with my players as:
A Team
1 Excellent
2 Solids
B Team
3 Solids
Backups
2 Passables
1 Inadequate
The Excellent will be 20 next season, all the rest are 17-18
Now, would you keep the coach I have or would you try and purchase a Solid coach with Weak leadership for 600K just for the training?
Is it worth it?

How much cash you got...do you have a decent high leadership/sympathetic or popular player?

Keep that coach, and buy a player with passable or better leadership to turn into a coach someday.

I have right around the 600K needed to get my coach (I will of course be going into debt)
And I have several Passables(Sympathetic & popular), and 1 Solid/pleasant

I have solid coach with wretched leadership...my team composure does do some strange things, but it's nothing that I can't justify firing the coach for...I will run the coach into the ground...(or at least till he does start slipping to being a passable coach). I just don't think coach changes are worth the money they are...you're solid guys are going to become excellent sometime mid to late next season (yes? no?) so they may not bump to formidable till the following season...(even a 17/18 y.o. takes at least 5 to 6 weeks, my guys take longer sometimes even with a solid coach)...I'd save the cash...coaches decreasing skills seem too unpredictable to me to be throwing 600k around..

I just looked at your roster. You have no one that would make a good coach anytime in the near future as they all have very low experience.
I don't think a solid/weak coach is much better than a solid/poor one. Certainly not enough to justify 300K when finances are a bit tight.

I was gonna check your roster, but I see Masked has done it. To turn a player into your coach, he needs experience, and a nice leadership level, but his agreeability doesn't matter AT ALL...
Here is my current passable coach, a former player that was on track to become my future solid coach when he was injured for 6 weeks...
Herman 'Moggis' Lewblom (5096920) http://195.149.159.154/Common/images/bookmark_16x16.gif (http://195.149.159.154/Common/bookmarks.asp?action=AddConfirm&BookmarkTypeID=2&ObjectID=5096920)
32 years, weak form, healthy
A passable coach who is fond of attacking
A controversial person who is tranquil and honest.
Has passable experience and passable leadership abilities.
Speciality: Unpredictable

See, he is a controversial guy, yet he has been a Godsend to my team spirit. If you'd go with a poor leadership solid coach, you would se a HUGE hit to your team spirit in between games. With a passable coach, I have been able to maintain a TS of at least content (6) for all of the season...
Here's the player that will become my coach when the weekly update rolls on this coming Saturday:
Quentin Doaré (7112623) http://195.149.159.154/Common/images/bookmark_16x16.gif (http://195.149.159.154/Common/bookmarks.asp?action=AddConfirm&BookmarkTypeID=2&ObjectID=7112623)
30 years, solid form, healthy
A pleasant guy who is temperamental and dishonest.
Has solid experience and passable leadership abilities.

He just popped to solid experience about two weeks ago and this week marked his one season (16 weeks) anniversary with my team...
Finally, to answer your question, I have survived with a passable coach since I first started playing HT. My first one had weak leadership and couldn't hold TS at all. Moggis was my second passable coach and I give him credit for keeping my TS so high and keeping my team in the hunt for all of this season... When I made Moggis into a passable coach, it cost me the same as a solid coach w/poor leadership, but I never regretted it...

If you are in a really close division and need the TS bump, then get the pass/pass coach. However, if not, training is far more important so get that solid coach who keeps your team spirit in the crapper. It works for me ;)

Mark Khaira
18 000 US$, 33 years, inadequate form
Has solid experience and passable leadership abilities
Stamina: excellent Keeper: wretched
Playmaking: wretched Passing: inadequate
Winger: inadequate Defending: inadequate
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: weak
This a player I bought a couple seasons ago, before the change to the coaching system. I can make him a Passable coach for $215K, a solid coach for $740, or I can wait a few weeks, start him in some cup matches and hope he pops in exp again. He's currently at 2.1 exp since last pop.
Also, should I wait until I can afford the $741K to make him a solid?

Wait until you can afford to make him a solid coach - keep playing him when you can as every little bit of experience will drop the conversion price.

Definitely wait until you can afford to make him a solid coach. No reason wasting him into a passable coach, especially since he's already got the solid experience needed to become a solid coach...

Well, coach Barrios just dropped to Inad leadership.
Now since I can afford it, would it be worth the drop of 1 level in leadership to increase 1 level of coaching?

To me, yes. Going from passable w/inad leadership to solid w/inad leadership would be worth it...

Depends on what you intend to do. A coach with inadequate leadership will still hold decent team spirit, if you intend to PIC through your season. You'll pretty much end up at delirious by Sunday. On the other hand, if you don't care about holding team spirit - mainly useful if you intend to PIC - then a solid coach is definitely a good thing to have.
