Don't be sour about the whole A-Rod thing. It could be a lot worse. you could be a Cubs fan.

The next time I see my 91 year old Grandfather, Im gonna ask him what it was like the last time the Redsox won a title. Granted, he was only like 5-6 back then, so he may not remember.

There's a tear in my beer. I'm disapointed, but not shocked or upset by any stretch of the imagination. This happens on an annual basis in some shape or form. Although I would lay even money down that this move proves to be the catalyst for the institution of a salary cap, or at least more comprehensive revenue sharing, in MLB. I wasn't for it before, but a $200 million wage bill is so over the top it's beyond comprehension. Of course they haven't bought a second basemen yet.

It's a good trade for the Yankees, should help keep the division and inevitable post season rematch close. However, I'm more then happy to take Martinez, Schilling, Lowe vs. Mussina, Vazquez, Brown. With or without Rodriguez, Torre's going to have to do his best job ever to keep everyone happy and juggle the playing time.
But this is all about George taking over the team again. I hope you have fond memories of the mid-late 80's and early 90's, as you'll be headed there again after the Boss runs all the people with a clue out of town. (And that's too bad... baseball really is better when the Yankees are at least somewhat good)

I can't believe how much of A-Rod's contract Texas is going to take on. At least with the Manny deal, they were getting a player for the money. In this deal, once all the payments are done, they will have effectively paid $140M for 3 years of A-Rod. Even with a substantial portion deferred, $46M a year is a tad high.

And I love how suddenly A-Rod is raising his hand like Horseshack saying "oh, oh, I'll play third..."

This will just make it sweeter when the Yanks lose again in the Series :).

I hope Soriano breaks his arm in 19 places.
Being last with A-Rod is more entertaining than being last without him.

But with the Manny deal, they were getting a player with a huge contract. Soriano's contract is tiny in comparison.

I'm going to put Hicks, Hart, Chan Ho Park and Showalter on ebay with a "buy it now" of 2 dollars. If only I could....
Does anyone know how to curse in Korean?

Hey, if A-Rod wants to play 3rd, I'm not going to complain. Heck, I'll tell him what a good idea it is. :p

You already did. Look between "Hart" and "Showalter."

Stupid question, I know, but... How is A-Rod worth $20M+ as a third baseman?
I mean, sure, nobody's worth that at any position, fine. But his numbers as a shortstop were spectacular. Those same numbers from a corner infielder are... really good, but not spectacular anymore.
I'm just saying...

if (when?) ARod hits 50 homers as a third baseman...he'll be the first ever to do so.
only 1 3rd baseman even hit 30 last year (Mike Lowell).

My guess is that the moment Jeter gets hurt A-Rod will "fill-in" at SS. When everyone in the Yankees organization and fan base see what a great SS they've had stuck at 3B they'll make it permanent, thus making his annual salary a bit more justifiable.
Of course, then the same question will have to be asked about Jeter's salary, 'cuz short of a career-year he's not going to hit well enough to justify what he's making regardless of his position.
This isn't a discussion post. I'm just telling you... ;)
