I'll be watching this one closely. As an M's fan, I had hoped they would hire either Billy Beane or one of his proteges, Ricciardi or DePodesta. Now we'll see how DePodesta does on his own and with a much larger payroll...

Although I admit I'm worried that DePodesta was quoted as saying "We don't have to do things exactly the same way as we did them in Oakland, since we have more resources."

I think this means letting your best player leave in FA and/or trading them before their FA year.

We'll see. If he means about player scouting and development, I reserve my rolled-up newspaper for use at a future date.

If he means not letting top young talent leave...then that's another matter.
