I'm writing a term paper, and I'm wondering if there is an official way to spell it? I've seen it spelled Al-Quaeda, Al-Qaeda, Al-Queida.... any help?

Al-Qaeda seems to be the most common. I think Al-Qu'aida might be closer, but there is no one translation.

My sense is that the "official" spelling can't be accurately reproduced by this messageboard's text package. :)

Dola. I think this might be the best place on the CPA website to find an accurate spelling. http://www.cpa-iraq.org/arabic/regulations/index.html :)
Although on their front page, when referring to the Al-Zarqawi memo, they use Al-Quaeda.
