With the combine coming up I thought this would be a good time to release my 2004 draft file for FOF 2K4. The file is upto the whole Clarett decision.
There may be some JR. who did not declare for the draft in the file, if you find one let me know and I will remove them. Also this is the first version and I expect to release another one as the draft approaches.
The file includes the following players:

Edit: To save space removed this list of players because its not current

Josh Fields, without doing any research, I believe is still at Oklahoma State (this is just because I think he was a freshman in 2001 when he beat OU at Owen, which would make him just a junior last year.

DOLA:

Jonathan Jackson of OU is staying for his senior year.
Mark Clayton of OU is staying for his senior year.
Jamal Brown of OU is staying for his senior year .
Vince Carter of OU is staying for his senior year.
Dante Nicholson of OU is staying for his senior year.
Lance Mitchell of OU was given a medical redshirt and will be back for 2004.
You don't have at DT Kory Klein, who was a solid player in his career for OU (I think he played as a freshman on the 2000 championship team).
You don't have LB Pasha Jackson of OU, who didn't play much as the 3rd LB (OU used nickel a lot), but is solid enough to get a look.

Fields is still a junior and not in the draft. I'm going to imagine there will be a few more. The problem is when I originally made this file the resource I was using included some Jr's. Yesterday when I wanted to remove all the juniors that hadn't declared I realized the site had changed its list of players removing some of the previous juniors. I plan on releasing an update sometime around the beginning of march, after the whole underclassmen deadline passes. Looks like I'll allready have Mike Williams to add.

Ok, I found a site that lists Jr's not declared so I think I removed most of them. I have posted the updated player list and posted the file.

I have come to plead for the inclusion of Rutgers players

DE Raheem Orr Regarded as a fierce pass rusher and a punishing tackler, Orr led all BIG EAST Conference defensive linemen with 82 tackles, including a league best 19.5 tackles for loss. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Orr was also second in the Conference with 8.5 sacks. Orr, who served as co-captain and led Rutgers to a 5-7 record, its highest win total since 1998, was also recipient of the Touchdown Club Award, presented annually to the individual “whose performance, leadership and dedication on and off the field has had the greatest impact on Rutgers football.”
Selected to Play in Blue-Gray Game
Was named by The Sporting News as the BIG EAST’s “Littlest Known Pass Rusher”.
Was named team MVP

CB/KR Nate Jones 2002 co-Big East special teams player of the year
Was named to a few pre-season all-american teams as a special teamer
Had 2 100 yard kickoff returns for touchdowns in 2002 against Tennessee and Syracuse

you're the man. I would say Orr is realistically a 5th round pick at best... while Jones would be 7th round/undrafted.
I think both will at least be undrafted free agents in real life, with Jones having a legit shot to land as a 5th CB, kick/punt returner.

How do I change the file extension?

Right-click on the file to bring up the file properties. At the top of the properties window there should be a text field with the full file name, with the extension, just edit it there and press enter.

I updated the file with
Mike Williams
Raheem Orr
Nate Jones
and tweaked a couple of ratings.
Look for one more update closer to draft time.

Also JeeberD, did you want to host a .faf version of this file? Geocities won't let me upload anything that isn't an image or text file.

I had the same problem. :( I hope Jeeber hosts the .faf file again. :)

I may have a solution.

Try this. (Note these are for XP, they may work for other versions of windows)
Goto the folder where the file is in
Click Tools on the headerbar
Click subsection folder options
Click the tab view
Remove the checkmark in the box labelled hide extensions for known file types
Click on the 2004faf.txt file (you should now see the .txt extension)
Rename the file to 2004.faf
Import the file into FOF 2K4 and enjoy

Hopefully this works

I have a question maybe someone here can answer... why do the player ratings fluctuate so much each time I open up the draft file within the game? I'm not using the x-factor, so I wouldn't think this would happen with the game.. any thoughts?

nilodor
03-07-2004, 02:54 PM
The x-factor applies to only the roster file you start the game with. The draft files are unaffected by the x-factor that you can toggle on or off.

nilodor
03-07-2004, 02:55 PM
Where do I put this file?

You can put the file in any directory you want. You will just have to find it when you click import draft.

j25352857
03-07-2004, 03:16 PM
ok... but it imports differently each time, with players having different ratings.. is this something that is suppossed to happen with the game?

nilodor
03-07-2004, 05:19 PM

Yes, that is something that is supposed to happen with this game.

j25352857
03-07-2004, 06:52 PM
so then... imported draft files are just basically "window dressing" in this game then? I mean... I'm not quite understanding what the point is other than to just have real names and such, if the ratings aren't "set." I guess I don't get why the game does this. I could understand the ratings changing from season to season, after having played with the roster set, but I wouldn't expect it to be different each time from before the draft. Thanks for explaining it though.

nilodor
03-07-2004, 08:06 PM
It's not like they are window dressing. The ratings are more like quasi-set. If a player has a high rating in the draft file, for sake of example someone with 90's across the board. More often than not he will be close to this (+/- 15). Sometimes the player may be alot worse or alot better. This represents the overall uncertainty in the draft.

Hurst2112
03-07-2004, 08:28 PM
You also have to remember that you don't have the eyes of god for the ratings. You are going by certain ratings of people on your staff.

If we all went with Mel Kiper's assesments, well, a lot would be different (hehe) but we would all follow 1 set of ratings for each player.

It is a cool concept if you think about. Makes for great replay value as well.

Bumpage -- are you still working on this at all nilodor? The other guy who did a draft file I know of is AWOL.

nilodor
04-21-2004, 08:20 PM
Yup, I'm hoping I'll put the finishing touches on the final version before the draft. I'm just tweaking some ratings and removing Maurice and Mike from the file. Or maybe I shouldn't? What do you guys think? Overall though, I wouldn't expect it to be too much different than the last one.

Skydog, if you are reading this, I think you should reference this is the giant thread of reference.

JeeberD
04-21-2004, 08:23 PM
Put a link to this thread in the Reference thread and SD will link it for you.

And I think you should take the guys out...

I'm having some trouble importing the draft file... specifically, FOF is crashing every time. Maybe the fact that I'm a complete n00b to FOF means I'm missing something, but I can't figure it out. I hit import draft class, select the 2004.faf I grabbed off this thread, and crash goes the FOF

Anyway, any help anyone?

Changes were:

Ratings tweaks to reflect combine and workout results. Removed some players who are no longer in the draft. However with FOF's built in variability it is not tremendously different than before.
