Okay, I'm a little nervous about this. I have my hard drives organized in a certain way, and FOF2004 is on the wrong one. I want to move it to where my other sports sims are.
What I plan to do is unlicense the game, uninstall the game, re-install to the new location and re-license the game.
I'm concerned that this may screw up MP somehow. Can anyone think of a reason why it would? I use 3ric's batch utility to move between SP and MP and I know I may have to tweak that. But will the new instance of FOF2004 even know I am the owner of my MP league anymore? I have no idea.

Theres no reason to unlicense the game. Just install FOF to where you want it to be, and then move your data directories over (universe, leagues). Thats all that should be done. Once youve verified everything is working ok with the new install, just delete the old Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2004 directory.

one tip: when you move your data files over to the new installation, don't just copy the directories over. Select all the files in the directories and copy the actual files over. You shouldn't have any problems.

Copy your whole Solecismic Software folder over the new location once you've installed the game. At least that's what I do when I play it on my laptop just to be sure.

Thanks everybody.
I installed FOF2004 to \solecismic\FOF2004 on the new drive. I actually didn't have to tweak 3ric's utility as it was in the ..\ format instead of full directory paths. So that was pretty convenient.
Everything is functioning as advertised, so I guess I can go and delete the old instance on my PC. Now, when I go into add/remove programs, I only see one instance of FOF2004 (even though I have 2 copies running). Is that the way it's supposed to be? And can I just manually delete the old directory structure?
And one other quick question, has anybody experienced any problems with meshing SP and MP "league" files together under "leagues"? Is it designed to handled multiple universe league files?
MizzouRah did you just negate Yabanci's advice?

btw, where can i get this batch program made by 3ric?
what i do for Singleplay and Multiplay is this:
I have 2 installations of FOF.
One in "d:\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2004\single play"
One in "d:\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2004\multi play"
Then i make 2 shortcuts to each FOF executable on my desktop (one for MP, one for SP)
Then i have 2 registry keys on my desktop, each one containing the installation directory of what install of FOF i want too play (SP or MP).
Whenever i want to play a solo league, i just double click my FOF-SP reg file, and then play my single player install of FOF. Whenever i want to open up my online league, i double click my FOF-MP reg file and then play my multiplayer install of FOF.
This technique also applies if you want to run multiple versions (patches) of FOF.
Im kinda stunned we still have to go thru any type of rigamaroo to play multiplay vs singleplay.

In the all-knowing "All Inclusive Thread" has directions for it. As for the SP vs. MP, I think it's just a first generation issue of multiplayer that slipped through the cracks when it was developed. The way you do it looks great, but it is extra work since you can actually run everything just fine from 1 copy of FOF.

You have to manually delete your old copy on your PC. Dont use the Add/Remove programs uninstaller, as it will remove the most recent installed copy of FOF.
As far as meshing online and single, i wouldnt recommend it. Im pretty sure the leagues directory is only there to store your online leagues and it has nothing to do with single play.

aah good stuff. its basically how i do it, except its movin files instead of updating reg entries. the cool thing about having 2 installs is that you can have multiple FOF's open. You just have to be sure to update the reg entry each time you open and want to save your league.
