Jordi Zeegers
28 000 US$, 31 years, inadequate form
Has passable experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Quick]
Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: wretched
Winger: poor Defending: solid
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor
Paid $115K, put up 3.5* as a central defender. How much did I overpay? I ask because I really have no idea what the market is on older players with good experience.

usually solid defenders that i sell 19-21 years old go for about 100k-150k with disasterous/wretched exerperience.
i dont know a lot about older players either. 31 seems a bit old for my tastes, but the experience is really nice. it really is just a gamble on how soon he will drop his skill because of age.

Question is, how much will he improve your team ratings? I've got a solid experienced, weak defender that gets me very good team defensive ratings on his end. Better than my passable defenders do. Mr. Zeegers won't give you excellent stars, but his experience should be a welcome boost to your defensive ratings.

I'd say you got a decent deal on him. When he can't compete on your a-team, he'll make a nice captain for your b-squad and if he gains experience fast enough maybe even a coach some day.

I didn't want to go the 19-21 route because they have only put up 2.5* (I know stars are evil) for me, so getting a 3.5* guy for that price was a bargin in my mind. This guy is only needed for this season really, if he doesn't drop by next season, then thats just a bonus for me. What it comes down to is I had an anti-clown playing central defense for me, and I really needed a change. After selling the anti-clown I should come out close to even cash wise.

I was just trying to let you know what the range is for younger players. If you only need him for a season or a quick fix, I say its not a bad buy. I have done the same in other positions.
Also note Quick guys loose defending in rain. But Hottrick.org says they counter other quick players I think.

The herd, I like this buy. Yeah, he'll be 32 in a few days, but 115k for 3.5 stars is a great deal, IMO. I have one two old geezers solid defenders on my starting lineup. Both of them have solid experience, and both of them playing as defensive wingbacks, and combined with a solid defender centreback played offensive combine to give me some nice defense ratings...
AAGunner, your team is Mongrel, right? Don't take too much comfort in the defense ratings your are getting from your weak defender with solid experience. I think I saw that your coach is a defensive minded one, and that makes a world of difference. Also, if you weak/solid exp defender plays on the side of the centreback, he will almost always get better defensive ratings on his side than the guy on the "naked" side, aka the side without a centreback. That is because the centreback contributes some of the defensive rating on the wing side too...

dola, to add that he has a very low value for a solid defender though, this could mean he is about to drop level... Best of luck with him :)

You're absolutely right. I'm aware of that. But even alone on the other wing, he pulls better ratings than my previous young passable-I think. Solid XP/Wk Def vs. Wretch XP/Pass Def
And he's not a long term solution.
