Boxing Dynasty

When you are not working, you have a ton of time to play computer games and write dynasties. So I am going to play Title Bout Championship Boxing by OOTP Developments. I am not a boxing guru, but I watch on HBO, ESPN, or whatever, and ready the weekly or monthly updates in the newspapers, etc… I am not the most knowledgably boxing fan, but I know most of the better fighters in the last decade or two, and basically just enjoy the sport.

For this dynasty, I am taking about 50 boxers, mostly heavyweights, but a few from other divisions, and matching them up in fantasy fights and cards. All boxers will be in their prime, and fighting at the class they historically performed the best in.

There is no real dynasty mode in this game, but I’ll have fun creating my own type of dynasty, hopefully with some fictional story lines. I will try not to make this too much like a wrestling dynasty, but it will probably have some aspects of that, severely limited by my weak imagination.

Also, I have created a new boxing federation, called the Ultimate Heavyweight Championship (The UHC). This will be the most prestigious belt in boxing. I will also use the WBC Title as a secondary title. I don’t really want to get bogged down in the alphabet soup of belts in boxing these days.

Of course, any boxing fans, or just any fans of this dynasty as it develops are encouraged to give me feedback and ideas that they would like to see me implement. While my #1 reason for writing a dynasty is to really get into the game, I also try to entertain you guys, and what to give you the info you want.

With that, we need to hold a tournament, with 16 fighters, to determine our very first UHC Champion!

Card 1 - UHC Open Tournament

Sixteen of the best heavyweight fighters in the world will get together for a 16 fighter tournament today. The top 4 fighters will square off on the next card to crown the actual champion. So the winner of the finals, and the 3rd place finisher will duke it out for the title in Card #2.

Here are the 16 fighters entered into this tournament.

(1) Muhammad Ali, USA - “The Greatest”, but can he prove it against the best competition in the world? A boxer in every sense of the world, and rated 15, the best that there is. The title is his for the taking.

Vs.

(16) David Tua, Samoa - Tuaman is a slugging type fighter and is a huge underdog in the first round of the tournament. Rated an 8.

(2) Joe Louis, USA - “The Brown Bomber” is probably the guy who has the best chance to beat Ali. He can slug it out or he can box with the best of them. Rated 14.

Vs.

(15) Oliver McCall, USA - The Atomic Bull is another slugging type fighter. A very long shot to beat Louis. Rated 9.

(3) Gene Tunney, USA - The Fighting Marine is a boxer. While not a real hard hitter, he has great ring smarts. Rated 13.

Vs.

(14) Hasim Rahman, USA - The Rock had an extremely brief, and very lucky title reign. There is little hope he can pull off another upset. Rated 7.

(4) Rocky Marciano, USA - The Brockton Blockbuster has a chance to get to Semi-Finals here. He is a real slugger, and will fight dirty if he needs to. Rated 13.

Vs.

(13) Floyd Patterson, USA - Patterson will slug it out if he has to, or he can box if that is the match up. Rated 9.

(5) Jack Dempsey, USA - The Manassa Mauler is a slugger and likes to fight dirty if he feels it will give him the necessary edge. Rated 13.

Vs.

(12) Lennox Lewis, UK - The Lion has a very good shot at pulling the first round upset. He loves to show how he can box, but is possibly a slugger at heart. He is not quite as smart in the ring as he thinks he is. Rated 10.

(6) Mike Tyson, USA - Iron Mike can knock anyone in this tournament out with one punch. He has been known to do anything in the ring to help him out, even bite. Rated 12.

Vs.

(11) Riddick Bowe, USA - Big Daddy presents an interesting first round opponent for Iron Mike. Both have a very similar style. Rated 12.

(7) Sonny Liston, USA - The Bear is a powerful hitter and has a real killer instinct. Rated 12.

Vs.

(10) George Foreman, USA - Big George is a load for any fighter to knock down. He puts his weight behind his punches and can flatten you with a single punch. Rated 12.

(8) Larry Holmes, USA - The Easton Assassin is a a fine boxer, but will also slug it out. He is rated 12.

Vs.

(9) Joe Frazier, USA - Smokin’ Joe will slug it out with anyone, anytime. He is a slow starter, but let him get warmed up and watch out! Rated 12.

Match #1, From The Staples Center in LA, CA.

Muhammad “Prime” Ali Vs. David Tuaman Tua

Ali has trained hard for this fight and looks like he cannot wait to get into the ring. Tua appears to be in great condition as well and looks like he is ready for a fight.

In the first round, the fighters were feeling each other outher, but both landed a couple of hard punches. As we moved into the next couple of rounds, Ali started landing some big puches that were having a major affect on Tua. In the third round, Tua is cut under his right eye and is bleeding! After 3, it looks like Ali leads the fight 30-28.

Over the next two rounds, Ali just abuses Tua and finally late in the 5th, Tua hit’s the canvas. The ref counts to 10 and Ali wins this match by knock out. The official time was 2:52 in the 5th Round, Ali by KO.

Ali landed with an amazing 87% of his punches while Tua landed only 28%.

Match #2

Joe Louis Vs. Oliver McCall

Both fighters have trained hard for this fight and both look ready to go!

Through the first 3 round, Louis is just dominating this fight and hurting McCall with almost every punch he throws. Unless McCall can figure something out, he is not going to last much longer.

McCall comes out firing in round 4 and lands a few solid punches. One of them staggers Louis a bit. Louis counters with some big hits and if it wasn’t for the ropes, McCall would have gone down I think. McCall backs into a corner and take more punishment, but then starts to fight back. He pushes Louis all the way back to the other corner and is just unleashing lefts and right on Louis! Louis looks like he is in bad shape.

McCall then lands a huge uppercut and Louis hit’s the canvas! Oh my, can we be seeing a huge upset? Louis is down and the ref begins his count. Louis is not getting up! The ref counts to 10 and McCall pulls off the monumental upset!!

At 1:54 of Round 4, McCall wins via KO! Louis landed 121 punches in this fight to McCall’s 45, but it was that one good barrage of punches that determined this fight.

Match #3

Gene Tunney Vs. Hasim Rahman

Both fighters look to be in perfect shape for this bout.

Right from the opening bell, Tunney was all over Rahman and only 2 minutes into the fight, he cut Rahman under the left eye. The blood is flowing freely already! In the second round, Rahman landed a few solid punches, but Tunney is still dominating this fight. After 4 rounds, Tunney is dominating this fight, although Rahman has had a couple of decent flurries that got to Tunney.

Tunney continues to pick up rounds until we get to the 6th. The cut under Rahman’s eye has closed up for him and that led to some confidence as he starts firing back at Tunney and landing some solid blows. The momentum might be turning here, as Rahman easily wins the 6th round.

Rahman continues to take it to Tunney in the 7th round. Tunney just looks frustrated out there and is swinging wildly and missing quite a bit. Rahman seems more focused and it picking his spots wisely.

The 8th round was a breather for these guys, and right now Rahman is making a nice comeback. I think this fight is still too close to call as we head into the final 4 rounds.

Tunney re-asserts himself in the 9th round and appears to have easily won that round with some dominating boxing.

Early in round 9 Rahman walks right into a hard right by Tunney and hit hit’s the canvas like a bag of Rocks! He gets up very quickly, only a count of two, but he is obviously hurting right now. Soon after getting up he gets clobbered with an overhead right and takes a knee in the corner! He gets up at the count of 9, but he may not last this round. Tunney could not finish Rahman off in that round. Somehow Rahman lasted. In between rounds we see that Rahman’s right eye is now heavily swelled up.

Late in the 11th round, Tunney catches Rahman again and he drops to the canvas like he was shot. Somehow Rahman manages to pull himself up at the count of 8! Rahman somehow gets through the round, but it is obvious he will need a knockout in the 12th to win this one.

Tunney plays it safe in the final round and this fight goes to the cards…

Alex Zeilke scores it 116-108
Horacio Castilla scores it 117-107
Greg Baker scores it 117-107

Your winner by unanimous decision: Gene Tunney!

Tunney landed 407 shots to Rahman’s 104.

Match #4

Rocky Marciano Vs. Floyd Patterson

Both fighters have trained hard and look ready for a great fight!

Right from the opening bell, Rocky was all over Patterson, landing punches left and right. In the second round, a 2 punch combo knocked Patterson down. He was able to get up at the count of six and finish the round. The third round still all Rocky Marciano and with the knockdown he is already building up a big lead.

In round four it is more of the same, with Marciano just using Patterson as a punching bad. Finally, the referee has to step in and stop this one.

The official results: At 2:58 of the 4th Round, Rocky Marciano by TKO!

Rocky landed 142 punches to just 64 by Patterson.

Match #5

Jack Dempsey Vs. Lennox Lweis

Both fighters are well prepared for this fight. In fact, Lewis looks to be in the best fight shape of his life right now!

Early in the fight, Lewis comes out swinging and lands some nice punches on Dempsey. Dempsey responds in the second round with some solid hits of his own. In the third round, the two fighters stand toe to toe and just let loose for about 2 solid minutes. Neither fighter gave any ground, but they both landed a ton of big shots!

The 4th round is pretty even, but Dempsey has a huge 5th round, buckling Lewis’s knees a few times and landing a ton of big blows. One of those shots landed below the belt and caused Lewis to double over. The ref gave Dempsey a warning for that low blow.

Dempsey lands more big hits in the 6th round and there is noticeable swelling under Lewis’s left eye. Later in the round, Lewis hits Dempsey with a flurry of punches and caps it off with a solid uppercut that drops Dempsey! Dempsey cannot answer the 10 count!

At 2:12 of the 6th Round, Lennox Lewis wins by KO!

Dempsey landed 131. Lewis only landed 87, but that last flurry did the damage.

Match #6

Mike Tyson Vs. Riddick Bowe

Tyson looks to be in great shape for this one, but Bowe looks a little sluggish. Rumors were circulating around Bowe’s camp that Riddick is not at all happy with his management team. These are distractions that Bowe does not need.

Tyson comes after Bowe like a pit bull when the bell rings and it is a classic Tyson fight as he drops Bowe to the canvas only 90 seconds into the fight. Bowe manages to get to his feet, but he is almost floored again later in the round. He gets out of the 1st round, but I doubt he will last much longer.

As Round 2 begins, Bowe’s right eye has already swollen up. Tyson targets it early in the second round and after landing some big shots right on that eye, the ref steps in and stops this fight!

The winner by TKO at the 1:10 mark in Round #2, Iron Mike Tyson!

Bowe was only able to land 12 punches. Tyson landed 51, but it is going to feel like 500 to Bowe in the morning.

Match #7

Sonny Liston vs. George Foreman

Both fighters look to be in great shape for this fight.

The first two rounds were some of the best boxing we have ever seen. These two heavyweights were slugging it out, throwing as many punches as they possibly can and landing a high percentage of power shots! After two round, both fighters have taken a beating. Foreman has some swelling under his left eye.

In the 3rd, Liston sees the swelling on Foreman’s eye and tries to go for the kill. He pummels Foreman in that round, and his eye is getting worse and worse right now.

In the 5th round, Foreman’s eye looks real bad, and Liston hits him with a big right that Foreman failed to even see coming. The punch floored Foreman! Foreman gets up and the ref lets the fight continue for a few more seconds, but finally he steps in and stops Foreman from getting pounded on any more.

The official results: The winner by TKO at the 2:19 mark of Round 5 is Sonny Liston!

Match #8

Larry Holmes Vs. Joe Frazier

Both fighters are in great shape and ready to go!

We see another great first round as the two fighters duke it out toe to toe in the middle of the ring. Each fighter landed a big blow than the last one! When the bell rings, the two fighters nod to each other to acknowledge the great round and the fans stand up and cheer like mad!

Holmes start to get the better hand of this slugfest in round 2. Early in the third round, a big bomb by Holmes cuts Frazier open over the right eye and blood is tricking down his face and into his eye. This is not good news for Frazier. He barely made it out of that round, he looked exhausted.

Frazier’s cut man does a wonderful job between rounds and seems to have stopped the bleeding.

Holmes continues to dominate this fight in the fourth and into the fifth when Frazier gets cut under his left eye. Frazier looks like he has been through a meat grinder. The ref finally has to stop this one.

Officially: The winner by TKO at the 2:58 mark of Round 5, Larry Holmes!

That completes Round 1 of the tournament

Round #2, Match #1

Muhammed Ali Vs. Oliver McCall

Ali comes in looking good and looking ready for this one. McCall is coming off a huge upset. Is he emotionally drained, or full of confidence?

The first two rounds were all Ali, as McCall looked intimidated out there. After he absorbed some hard hits, he felt he could stand in with Ali and started to fight back strong in the third round, probably winning it.

The next three rounds are very slow moving as both fighters seem content to just dance around the ring and clinch each other. The ref has to break up a lot of clinching. Ali has landed some fo the bigger puches, but there has not been many yet.

The next two rounds are not all that much more exciting, but any action that developes is mostly because of Ali, which is likely to get him the lead on the cards. You wouldn’t think Ali would want such an important fight to go to the cards, but he just seems out of sorts there.

Finally, in the 9th round, we see some good action as Ali hits McCall with a series of combos that all land cleanly. The last one sends McCall to the canvas, but he shakes it off, gets up and finishes the round.

In the 10th and 11th rounds, Ali seems to just be sleepwalking through this fight, content to win on the cards, which he likely will.

In the 12th and final round, Ali is content to go the distance, and McCall looks like he doesn’t want to take any chances and get knocked out. The bout goes the distance.

Omar Mintun scores it 118-109.
Horacio Castilla scores it 118-110.
Greg Baker scores it 117-110.

The winner by unanimous decision is Muhammed Ali!

Round #1, Match #2

Gene Tunney Vs. Rocky Marciano

Rocky looks to be in perfect shape for this bout. As far as Tunney, some are saying that he has over trained for this fight and might be a little tired coming in.

The first round was pretty slow, but in round two Marciano landed a clean cross shot that caused Tunney’s knees to buckle and hit the canvas. He popped right back up but score it a knockdown for Rocky!

In the third round, Marciano turns up the heat and looked as if he had Tunney ready for the kill, but Tunney managed to get out of the round on his feet.

Tunney has some massive swelling going on under his right eye as we begin the 4th round. Tunney fights back in the 4th round and catches Marciano with a blow that opens up a large gash over his left eye. He is bleeding badly as he heads to the corner. Over the next two rounds, Tunney’s swelling over the eye is getting worst, but the gash over Rocky’s eye is still open. The cut man cannot seem to get it to close and he is losing quite a bit of blood. Through 6 rounds, this is way too close to call right now.

The 7th inning is a lot of clinching and dancing. Rocky lands a few more shots on that swollen eye.

As the fighters come out to start the 8th round, the ref takes a good look at Tunney’s eye and waves his hands. He is stopping the fight!

Officially:

At the :03 mark of Round 8, the winner by TKO is Rocky Marciano!

Round #2, Match #3

Lennox Lewis Vs. Mike Tyson

Both fighters are in perfect shape for this match.

Lewis is the aggressor early on in this fight, but Tyson fights back in the second round. Tyson gets warned for backhanding Lewis in the second round. Tyson complains to the referee, but he doesn’t want to hear it at all. The fight restarts and Tyson is still mouthing off to the referee about the warning when Lewis lands a roundhouse and flattens Tyson! Tyson goes down to his back and finally gets back to his feet at the count of 8. Lewis cannot finish Tyson off in the second round, but in the corner we notice some decent swelling under Tyson’s right eye.

In the third round, Tyson feels like he is backed into a corner, and you want to be careful around a caged dog so to speak. Lewis is not and he comes after Tyson and takes a powerful right to the jaw that drops him to the canvas for a count of 8! Both men have now been down in this fight and we are only in the third round!

Lewis gets out of the round alive, but Tyson’s eye continues to give him problems. He is going to have to finish Lewis off or that eye may cost him this fight.

The 4th round is pretty even between these two fighters. The crows is roaring their approval of this great fight.

Lewis took a ton of punishment in the 5th round, but managed to stay on his feet.

In the 6th round, Lewis starts to get the better of Tyson. Tyson is clinching and pushing a lot, and Lewis is getting frustrated. Lewis then throws a punch on the break and the ref pauses the fight to isse a warning to Lewis!

This fight is way to close to call, but Tyson’s eye got noticeably worst in that last round.

Tyson gets the better of Lewis in the 7th round, by a wide margin, but his eye is now seriously swollen and I would not be surprised if this fight gets stopped because of it.

In the opening seconds of the 8th round, Tyson catches Lewis in the ribcage and sends him to the canvas! Lewis gets back up quickly though and continues to fight. The crows is at a deafening level right now. Tyson with another backhand punch and the ref pauses the fight again and takes away a point from Tyson! Oh my, Tyson is pissed off now!

Tyson comes after Lewis and gets him in a corner and starts wailing away. He backs off and Lewis slumps to the canvas! Lewis gets up at the count of 6 and the fight continues! Tyson hits Lewis a few more times and Lewis backs away. Tyson tells he should have ended the fight, and the ref steps in and waves his hands! Unbelievable! Tyson talked the ref into stopping it!

The winner by TKO at the 2:53 mark of the 8th Round is Iron Mike Tyson!

Round #2, Match #4

Sonny Liston Vs. Larry Holmes

Neither fighter looks to be in great shape here. Liston is bone dry coming into the ring which is not a good sign. Holmes appears soft in the middle and maybe he did not train as hard as he should have.

Holmes gets the best of the action in round 1 and 2, but heading into the corner after 2 rounds, Holmes already looks exhausted. In the third round, Liston catches Holmes with a wicked punch and cuts him open under his right eye.

Holmes’s corner gets the bleeding stops and the two fighters exchange some heavy blows in the fourth round.

Liston now looks tired in the 5th round and he is carrying his hands low. A lot of clinching going on in this round, and then the fight is stopped so the ref can give a warning to Liston for a low blow. Both fighters look very tired in the 6th round. Liston’s hands are still being carried low, but he is able to catch Holmes with a ribshot that sends him to the canvas! Holmes gets up at the count of 8. Holmes gets out of the round, but you have to think Liston has taken a lead in that round.

In round 7, Holmes rallies and send Liston to his back with a surprise jab. Liston is so tired it takes him until the count of 8 to get up. Liston survives the 7th round, but now this fight is too close to call again.

Both fighters have swelling under their left eyes as the 8th round begins. This round goes by pretty uneventful. Both fighters are just trying to get air in the lungs at this point.

The 9th is another uneventful round. Both swellings are getting larger, but Liston’s looks worse at this point.

Late in the 10th round, Holmes knocks Liston to the canvas again. Liston gets up as the bell rings to end the round. This knockdown may have given Holmes the advantage on the cards.

Holmes is tired in the 11th and is doing a lot of clinching early on. The ref catches him head butting and gives him a warning. Holmes starts popping Liston and the ref steps in to look at Liston’s eye. After checking it out, he waves his hands and stops this one!

Officially:

The winner, by TKO, at the 0:58 mark of round 11 is Larry Holmes!

Round #2, Match #1

Muhammad Ali Vs. Rocky Marciano

Both fighters are in perfect shape for this bout.

Through the first three rounds, Rocky got some nice power punches in on Ali, but overall Ali is controlling the tempo of the fight and scoring points every round.

Through rounds 4 and 5 , Ali was still doing better, but Rocky was showing signs of life and connecting more often. In the 6th round, Rocky catches Ali flush with a short clean hook and drops Ali to the canvas for a 4 count! That could get Rocky right back into this fight. Ali gets out of that round, but we have a fight again here.

Rounds 7 and 8 are pretty even, but Ali starts to assert himself in the 9th round with some big punches. With only 3 rounds to go, Ali has gotten the better of Rocky, maybe by a small margin, but the knock down could make up the difference for Rocky.

In the 10th round, the fighters exchange blows, but Rocky get a very important point taken away for hitting with the back of his glove! That could come back and haunt him.

As round 11 begins, Ali has a bit of swelling on his right eye, but at this stage of the fight, it should not be a big factor. The 11th round was all Ali, but there is one more round to go, and I am not sure who would be leading on the cards right now.

Late in the 12th round, Ali puts this decision to rest by sending Rocky to the canvas with a shot to the ribs. Rocky gets up at the count of 6, but scoring this as a 10-8 round should give the fight to Ali.

We head to the judges:

Glen Hamada scores the fight 115-109.
Horatio Castilla scores it 115-109.
Greg Baker scores it 116-109.

The winner, by unanimous decision, is Muhammad Ali!

Round #3, Match #2

Mike Tyson Vs. Larry Holmes

Both fighters are in great shape here.

In the first round, Holmes took it to the body of Tyson. In the second round, Tyson covered up the body and Holmes took it to his head. I would have to give Holmes both of the rounds.

In the third round, Tyson landed some huge shots, but probably still lost on the cards. Holmes is being precise and patient and it is paying off. Tyson is in trouble now with a pretty bad swelling under his left eye.

In the fourth, Holmes continues to pick his spots wisely and is scoring points left and right and avoiding the big blows from Tyson. Tyson seems to be trying to win this fight with one punch, and meanwhile, he is taking the punishment. In addition, that eye is starting to get bad.

Tyson is still headhunting in the 5th round, but got some clean shots off and probably picked up his first round of the fight. Still, that eye has to be a concern, and maybe he should try to get the KO, because I don’t think he will last 12 rounds.

The 6th was another solid round for Holmes as he is jabbing and body punching Tyson to death out there.

Tyson’s eye looks like ground beef and he is look very tired between rounds. He is going to need to knock out Holmes soon if he wants this fight.

In the 7th, Holmes pops Tyson in that swollen eye and blood starts spurting everywhere. The ref jumps in waving his hands and stops this one!

The winner, by TKO at the 0:35 mark of round 7 is Larry Holmes!

The Final Match

Muhammad Ali Vs. Larry Holmes

The winner of this fight will fight for the UHC Title on our next fight card! Opponent is to be determined by a showdown fight between Tyson and Liston.

Ali looks in great shape for this fight, But Holmes looks a little soft around the middle.

In the first three rounds, Holmes got off to a great start in each of them, but Ali weathered the storm and finished strong, probably stealing all three rounds. Now that is smart boxing!

Ali continues to put on a boxing clinic out there tonight. He is scoring lots of points every round and hurting Holmes in the process. I am not sure if Holmes has even won a round yet. This is a very lopsided fight so far.

In the 7th, Ali started to dominate Holmes and then in the 8th, he sent him to his knee for an 8 count. Ali is in total control of this fight.

In the 9th, Holmes comes out to fight with a swelling in his left eye, and Ali adds to his pain with a punch right in the kisser, that splits Holmes lip right open.

Ali continues to dominate in the 10th and 11th rounds, but cannot finish off Holmes. You have to love the heart and determination Holmes is showing to go the distance. He is taking an absolute beating out there.

The 12th round comes to a close and we go to the cards:

Carlos Berrocal scores it 119-108
Horacio Castilla scores it 117-110.
Greg Baker scores it 118-109.

Opening Bout.

Marvin Hagler vs. Bernard Hopkins for the Vacant UHC Middleweight Title. The odds makers have this as an even fight tonight.

Both fighters come to the ring looking in top shape. Hagler is a great slugger and has a powerful punch. Hopkins considers him a master of boxing style. We will see which style wins this bout.

Through the first three rounds the punches landed are about equal, but Hagler is landing more of the power shots and that may give him a slight edge on the judge’s cards.

In round 4, Hagler catches Hopkins with a straight right to Hopkins chin. His knees buckle, he stumbles and hit’s the canvas for an 8 count! Hopkins is able to get up and finish the round, but Hagler has just taken control of this bout.

In round 5, Hagler turns on the heat and is trying to finish Bernard Hopkins off. Maybe out of desperation, Hopkins head butts Hagler in a tie up and the judge immediately gives him a warning. Hagler looks a little dazed and the momentum swings to Hopkins favor for the rest of the round, although Hopkins does have a tiny bit of swelling going on under his right eye.

In the next couple of rounds, the momentum has switched Hopkins’ way and in the 7th, he stuns Hagler with a knockdown. Hagler quickly popped back up. The hit seemed to wake him up more than damage him.

Hagler comes back in round 8 and dominates Hopkins. This is a very close fight at this point. Both fighters are pretty tired though and we are seeing a lot of clinching and holding out there as the rounds go by.

Over the 9th and 10th rounds, neither fighter is able to get a decided advantage and with 2 rounds left, this fight is still up for grabs.

Hagler completely dominated round 11, and set himself up nicely for a win as long as he has a nice 12th round.

The 12th round is still all Hagler. Hopkins just looks like a tired fighter out there. He does last the fight and takes the decision to the judges…

Abe Pacheco scores the bout 116-111.
William Hutt score it 115-111.
John Wright scores it 114-113.

Your winner, by unanimous decision, Marvin Hagler! Hagler is the first undisputed UHC Middleweight Champion!

Opening Bout #1

Vitali Klitschko Vs. Lou Savarese

The books have Vitali as a 2 to 1 favorite. Vitali looks to be in great shape for this fight. Savarese looks tired, and is not in great fighting shape for this one.

Round 1 was a dominating display by Vitali. He landed about every punch he threw. It looks like a man against a boy out there. There is no way Savarese is going to get through the next couple of rounds with this beating he is taking. He already has a large swelling on his right eye.

The Second Round is still all Vitali and he sends Savarese to the canvas with a wild punch. Vitali was swinging away trying to finish this fight off. Savarese gets to his feet and survives the round, but just barely. His eye looks terrible and he is sucking wind.

Round 3 barely gets underway when the ref waves his arms and stops the fight. That right eye of Savarese is just too swollen for him to go on!

Officially, The winner of this bout, by TKO at the 0:02 mark of Round 3 is Vitali Klitschko!

Opening Bout #2

Jameel McCline Vs. Buster Douglas.

This books have this as an even fight.

Both fighters appear to be in great shape for this fight.

Right off the bat in this fight, Douglas lands a punch that split’s the skin over McCline’s right eye. It is bleeding profusely and getting into his eye it seems.

McCline says the cut is not bothering him and he proves it in round two by sending Douglas to the canvas with a still right hand. Douglas gets up at the count of four and the fight continues.

The fighters go toe to toe in the third round and McCline busts up Goudlas and cuts him under his left eye. Both fighters a bleeding quite a bit. They both look like they have gone 15 innings and it has only been 3. Late in the round, Douglas lands a low blow and the ref takes a point away from him!

McLine’s left eye is starting to swell and his right eye still has an open cut over it as we start the 4th round.
The round is pretty slow with both guys trying to catch some breathe. After this round, both corners get those cuts closed up and all the bleeding has stopped for now. McCLine still has a good swelling on his left eye though.

The 5th round is another slow one, but in the 6th, Douglas catches McCline with a sweeping hook that catches him totally off guard. McCline hit’s the canvas and barely gets up in time, but he does finish the round. His eye is getting pretty bad, and he may not be able to continue much longer.

In Round 7, McCline rallies and sends Douglas to the canvas with a straight right! There is no quit in either of these fighters as Douglas regroups and gets up at the count of 6. Later in the round, Douglas hit’s the canvas once again, but manages to get up at the count of 6! He gets out of the round, but it is clear that niether fighter will last 12 rounds.

The 8th round goes by pretty much uneventful. In the 9th, Douglas lands a few solid punches to the swollen eye of McCline and the ref steps in and calls this fight off. McCline is fuming, saying he can go on and he put Douglas on the mat twice in the last round, but the ref doesn’t want to hear a thing. This one is over!

The winner, by TKO at the 0:20 mark of Round 9 is Buster Douglas!

Roberto Duran Vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the Vacant UHC Lightweight Title.

The odds makers have Duran as a 2-1 favorite in this fight.

Both fighters are in perfect shape for this fight.

Through the first three rounds, this fight is a one sided affair with Duran just doing as he pleases in the ring and nailing Mayweather with jabs and power punches. There is no doubt that Duran is controlling the fight and has taken the first three rounds on the cards.

The next three rounds are more of the same, with Duran just dominating Mayweather. Hard rights, jobs, hooks…everything is landing for Duran, and Mayweather looks exhausted out there. I doubt he has won a single round yet.

In round 7, Mayweather starts to show some offense and got the better of Duran, but Duran comes back in the 8th and ninth rounds to probably win both of them. Duran gets a warning in the 8th for holding and hitting. Mayweather did land a solid jab right to Duran’s nose in the 9th round that drew some blood. It shouldn’t be a factor though. Duran’s corner plugs up his nose and the bleeding stops for round 10...

In round 10, Duran takes control early, pounding Mayweather. But again he is holding and hitting. The ref breaks the fighters up and then disqualifies Duran for the illegal holding and hitting, saying that it was intentional and blatant! The crowd is in an uproar as Mayweather celebrates!

Officially, Roberto Duran has been disqualified and the UHC Lightweight Champion of the world is Floyd Mayweather Jr.!

Larry Holmes Vs. Oliver McCall for the vacant WBO Heavyweight Title of the World!

Both fighters are in tip top shape. Holmes earned this fight by making it to the finals of the tournament on our last card. McCall is here because he is the top ranked contender not eligible to fight for the UHC Title at the next card. McCall pulled off the stunning upset of Joe Louis.

In the first round, both fighters are feeling each other out, throwing a lot of little jabs. Holmes got the better of McCall, but no damage was done. In round 2, Holmes started to open up this fight, landing some big rights that hurt McCall.

In round 3, both fighters landed some solid power punches, but Holmes is winning this fight by consistently landing the jab as well. One solid jab split McCall’s lip in this round. His corner was not able to get the bleeding to stop in between rounds and McCall is starting to look really tired.

In round 4, McCall opened with a couple hard punches that stunned Holmes, but Holmes regrouped and dominated the rest of the round. McCall’s corner is still having trouble stopping the bleeding from his lip.

McCall comes back with a very solid 5th round, staggering Holmes a few times with some heavy uppercuts to the chin.

Holmes reasserted himself in round 6, landing lots of hard shots. McCall looked out of sorts and I am not sure if he even landed a clean punch in that round. He is quickly falling far behind and may need a knockdown or even knockout to win this thing.

Early in round 7 Holmes lands a huge right, but the ref gives him a warning for hitting on the break. McCall got the quick advantage in this round, but in the final 60 seconds, Holmes landed a massive barrage of offense. I have no idea how McCall was able to stay on his feet, but he took a ton of punishment in this round. McCall has a slight swelling around his left eye now.

Round 8 is more of the same, and in round 9, Holmes lands a thudding shot to McCall’s ribs that crumbles him like stale bread! McCall jumps right back up, but that knocked the wind right out of him. Holmes goes in for the kill, but McCall somehow stays on his feet and lasts another round.

Round 10 is more punishment from Holmes, but at least McCall is answering with some counterpunching.

Holmes continues to pour on the punishment n Round 11, but give McCall some credit for staying on his feet. McCall would need a knockout to win this fight, and I doubt he has any power left in his punches to get it.

In the 12th and final round, McCall tries to throw some haymakers and win this thing, but Holmes avoids them and counter punches with success. The round ends and we go to the cards for the formality.

Jean Louis Legland scores the bout 118-108.

Mike Tyson Vs. Rocky Marciano

The winner of this fight will face Muhammad Ali for the UHC Heavyweight Title of the World!

The bookmakers have this fight listed as even odds.

Both fighters are in the best shape of their lives for this very important fight.

A tremendous first round for the fans as both fighters looked to get the early knock out. They both landed huge bombs that sent their opponents into the ropes. It is tough to say who got the better of the exchanges, but if this fight continues this way, it could be the early favorite for fight of the century.

In round 2, Tyson starts out by clobbering Rocky, and really hurting him. His legs already looked pretty wobbly. After 2 minutes of getting pummeled, Rocky uses a cheap low blow shot that doubles over Tyson. The ref immediately deducts a point from Rocky, and gives Tyson the time to recover from the low blow.

Round 3 goes to Tyson as he landed some big blows in this all out slug fest. One shot almost sent Marciano to the canvas.

Round 4 was pretty much a draw in term of points, but each fighter landed some heavy blows that you can tell are having their desired affects.

The slugfest continues in Round 5 and I cannot believe that niether fighter has hit the canvas yet, never mind suffering any cuts or bruises.

Round 6 seemed to be going Marciano’s way until the last minutes when Tyson unleashed a fury of rights that landed clean. This fight is way too close to call, although I would suspect Tyson is stealing rounds late in the 3 minute count of each one with a strong finish.

Round 7 is another pretty even round. Both fighters are just standing in the middle of the ring trying knock each others head off.

The action slows in round 8 as both fighters are starting to show fatigue. I think they were trying to find a second wind in this round.

In Round 9, Tyson really roughs up Marciano and it could even have been a 2 point round for Tyson if it was not for a late flurry by Rocky. Tyson’s punches had their desired affect in round 9 as Rocky’s left eye has ballooned.

Tyson doles out the punishment in round 10, targeting that left eye of Marciano. I really don’t know if the ref is going to let him continue after this round unless his corner gets that swelling down a bit.

It is gut check time for Rocky in round 11, and he responds with a great first two minutes, raining blows down on Tyson and staggering him back. Rocky might have been too aggressive though as late in the round he walks right into a right hand from Tyson that just floors him. Marciano shakes it off and gets up at the count of 4. The ref checks him out and then stops this fight. Rocky cannot continue!

Officially, the winner by TKO at the 2:25 mark of Round 11 is Iron Mike Tyson!

Tommy Morrison Vs. Corrie Sanders

Morrison is a 2 to 1 favorite in the books tonight.

Both fighters look in great shape and are ready to go.

Corrie Sanders comes out and just attacks Morrison landing lefts, rights and everything in between! Morrison just puts his gloves up to protect himself from the onslaught, but the blows keep coming and most of them are breaking through the defense. Before we know it the ref is jumping in between the two fighters and waving his hands! He has stopped the fight already! Corrie Sanders with an amazing UHC debut!

Wladimir Klitschko Vs. Chris Byrd

Vlad is a 3 to 2 favorite in this fight.

Vlad appears to be in perfect shape for this fight, but Byrd is pretty soft around the middle tonight. He certainly does not look like he trained hard for this matchup.

Through 3 rounds, the ref is as involved in the action as the fighters are. He is constantly having to break up the holding and clinching going on. When Vlad punches, he is effective, but he is being ultra conservative tonight. Maybe he is trying to just wear Byrd down. On the other hand, Byrd is active and throwing a lot of short jabs and scoring points with them.

Through the next 3 rounds, the boo birds have come out at MSG as this fight has becme a dancing contest, or maybe a clinching contest. The fans are agitated with the lack of action. Finally, late in round 6, Vlad shows some offense and lands some big hits, staggering Byrd.

Rounds 7 and 8 are much like the first 6 rounds. Both fighters are very cautious and conservative in their approach. The fans let them know they don’t like it.

Finally, in the 9th round, Vlad opens up a bit and lands some solid rights which cause a swelling to start on Byrd’s right eye.

In round 10, Vlad finally starts to take control of the fight, while Byrd looks like he is just out there to pick up a paycheck.

Round 11 also goes to Vlad, but at least Byrd showed a little life out there. Mercifully, we reach the 12th and final round of this one.

Byrd throws a few big swings in the 12th round hoping for a lucky punch, but of course it doesn’t happen and this fight goes to the cards.

Anibal Miramontes scores the fight 120-111.
Terry Smith scores it 118-111.
Lulama Mtya scores it 118-113.

The winner by unanimous decision is Wladimir Klitschko!

Preliminary Fight #2

Evander Holyfield Vs. Michael Moorer.

Holyfield is a 2-1 favorite tonight.

Both fighters are in great shape for this match.

Holyfield comes out the aggressor in round 1, getting some solid punches in. Moorer just looks like he is biding his time, and the strategy actually works as he catches Holyfield totally out of nowhere with a devastating jab right to the nose. Holyfield drops like a sack of potatoes and doesn’t get up until the countr reaches 8!

Holyfield comes back in round 2 and lands some power punches of his own that seem to have staggered Moorer.

Over the next 2 rounds, Holyfield starts to pick it up and is starting to gain a noticeably advantage over Moorer. It is looking like that knockdown was just a lucky shot that stunned Evander.

The momentum swings back and forth a couple of times over the next 2 rounds, with each fighter probably taking 1 round.

Round 7 is pretty even, but Holyfield might have stolen it with a late flurry of punches that landed. In Round 8, Holyfield start to take control of the fight and knocks Moorer down with a slid right to the ribcage. Moorer is quick to get back up and restart the fight. Holyfield shows that killer instinct and comes right at Moorer and sends him to the canvas again in the 8th round. This time it takes a count of 8 before Moorer gets back up. Moorer survives the round, but is in big trouble now.

Holyfield continues the attack in round 9 and once again puts Moorer on his back. Moorer gets up on the count of 4, and Evander shakes his head, wondering what he ahs to do to keep him down. Evander continues to attack and Moorer has his gloves up. The ref tells him to do something or the fight will end, and Moorer throws a few weak punches but gets out of the 9th round alive.

In Round 10, Evander sends Moorer to the canvas once again and as he starts to get up, he thinks better of it and stays down for the 10 count.

Officially, The winer by KO at the 2:54 mark of Round 10 is Evander Holyfield!

Roy Jones Jr. Vs. Michael Nunn for the vacant UHC title.

Jones is a 2 to 1 favorite for this fight.

Both fighters are in fine shape for this one.

Through two rounds, Nunn is putting on quite a performance, stunning Jones and his legion of fans in the crowd tonight. Nunn is repeating scoring points and doing damage to Jones and keeping Roy out of the flow of his game.

Jones comes to life in the 3rd round, and lands many, many good punches. But Nunn comes right back out in the 4th and takes it to Roy once again, piling up the points and a lead in this fight.

Jones starts off round 5 strong, but Nunn comes right back and staggers Jones. Jones dances around a bit to regroup and then attacks, sending Nunn to the canvas with a devastating right cross! Nunn gets up at the count of 8, but suddenly this fight has turned.

Jones comes out for the 6th round in a southpaw stance to try and change things up here. Nunn is a bit thrown off by the move and suffers some damage in this round.

The 7th round is pretty even, but at the second tick down, Jones will try to steal the round with a flurry. One of his punches hit Nunn square in the face and blood erupts everywhere! The ref halts the fight and sends the fighters to neutral corners. The ring physician comes up and takes a look at Nunn’s eye, which is just pouring blood. Nunn pleads with the doctor to continue but he has seen enough and calls this one.

George Foreman Vs. Lennox Lewis

The bookies have this as an even fight.

Both fighters are in great shape and ready to get it on.

Foreman comes out the aggressor in round 1 and backs Lewis into the corner. He unleases lefts and rights and when he finally backs out there is blood everywhere. Lewis has a gash over his right eye that is bleeding pretty badly. He wipes the blood from his eye with his glove and makes it out of the round, but already badly hurt.

Lweis regroups in the corner and comes out with some solid shots in the second round, but once again Foreman backs him into a corner and does some heavy damage on Lewis. If Lewis keeps getting caught in there, he is not going to last long. As the third round starts, the gash is still bleeding from Lennox’s eye.

Lewis moves around a lot in the third round, staying out of harms way, but he eventually gets trapped in the corner and once again Foreman unloads into him with some damaging hits.

Round four is once again all George Foreman, but Lewis shows signs of life in round five, staggering Foreman a couple of times and almost sending him down. Foreman gets conservative after that flurry and dances around for the rest of the round. As we head to round 6, the cut over Lewis’s eye is better, but still obviously open and bleeding.

Foreman takes back control in the 6th round and easily wins it, dealing out a lot more punishment for Lewis. The corner has finally got that cut to stop bleeding.

Lewis comes back with another strong round in the 7th, but time is not on his side right now. Foreman looks considerably slower and may be fading as this fight wears on.

Foreman gains the momentum back with a very strong round 8. Lewis looks like he spent a lot of energy trying to get back into this fight.

Round 9 is a classic toe to toe slugfest, and Foreman may have gotten the btter of it, but not by much. Both fighters took some heavy damage in that round, and either one is primed to be knocked down or out in the final 3 rounds.

The first knockdown of the fight comes in the 10th when Foreman lands a crushing blow to Lewis’s ribcage. Lewis gets up on a 5 count. Foreman starts swinging wildly trying to finish this one off and eventually catches Lewis with a big hook that puts him down. Lewis pops right back up though and the bell rings to end the 10th.

Both fighters look totally spent in the 11th round. They are probably saving up for the final round, where Lewis would surely need a knockout to win.

The fuel tanks are on empty and round twelve goes by pretty uneventful. We head to the judges.

Larry Chavez scores the bout 116-110.
Vince Delgado scores it 117-107.
Robert Byrd scores it 116-110.

The winner, by unanimous decision, is George Foreman!

Muhammad Ali Vs. Mike Tyson - for the undisputed UHC Heavyweight Championship of the World!

The books have this fight as even money on either fighters.

Ali looks primed and ready to go, however, Tyson looks just a bit out of shape, like maybe he could have put a bit more effort into training for this fight. Against a guy like Ali, you better be in the best shape of your life.

Ali gets off to a quick start to this fight, landing a few big punches to Tyson’s face. Tyson is a little discouraged by these early shots, but regroups and makes a fine showing in closing out the first round.

The fighters did all of their feeling out in round 1, which they obviously skipped over in the first round. Neither fighters threw many punches, never mind landing any.

Ali completely dominated round 3, sending Tyson reeling into the ropes on two or three occasions. Tyson was weakly swinging at Ali and failed to connect time and time again. His punches do not even seem to have any power behind them right now.

In round 4, Tyson looks as if he could care less about the title that is on the line. His hands are held low and he is sluggish moving around the ring. In the meantime, Ali continues to rack up points.

Tyson shows signs of life in the 5th round, snapping some clean hard punches that landed squarely. Still, he did not overwhelm Ali in this round, but he has to start somewhere.

Ali regains control of the fight in the 6th round. Tyson is missing his mark again and his hands are still being carried low. Ali makes Tyson pay dearly for it and lands several hard shots that sent Iron Mike reeling. Those punches also caused a pretty large swelling on his right eye. It looks like the type that could cause the referee to stop things.

Things go from bad to worse for Tyson in the 7th round. Ali is using Tyson as a punching bag out there and Mike is barely responding. The swelling on his eye is much worse now and it looks like he has given up.

Tyson continues to take abuse in the 8th round, and as he comes out for the 9th, the referee takes a good look at his eye, and at his body language and calls this fight right there on the spot.

Officially, The winner and UHC Heavyweight Champion of the World, by TKO at the 0:03 mark of the 9th Round is Muhammad Ali!

Opening Bout

Andrew Golota Vs. Vitali Klitschko

The odds are even on this fight. Both fighters are in perfect condition for this bout.

Nothing out of the ordinary in the first three rounds of this fight. Vitali is probably getting the better of Golota, but Golota is hanging in this one.

In round 4, the fighters start by feeling each other out, Golota is throwing a lot of jabs, looking for an opening, and he finally finds one that buckle Vitiali’s knees, and they hit the canvas. He takes a second to catch his breath and gets right back up on a 2 count. Golota went after Vitali after he got up and a couple of times it looked like the ref was going to stop it, but Vitali started punching back and he lasted through the round.

Vitali comes into round 4 with some swelling on his left eye. Golota keeps the pressure on and scores a decisive win in round 5.

Early in round 6, Golota connects with a big uppercut and sends Vitali sprawling to the canvas. He has trouble getting up, but makes it at the count of 8. Golota cannot finish Vitali off in this round though. Vitali’s eye is taking more punishment and looks pretty bad now.

Round 7 was the first good one for Vitali as he started to rally back with some good power punches that got to Golota cleanly. If Vitali can keep the momentum going he may be able to get himself back into this fight with his thunderous right hand. Golota looks really tired after this round.

Golota regains his composure and scores another victory in round 8. Vitali looks almost finished out there after his breif second win in the last round.

Early in round 9, Golota lands a punch to the ribs and Vitali goes down hard. He is not getting up. This fight is over!

Officially, The winner by KO at the 0:32 mark of round 9 is Andrew Golota!

Joe Louis vs. Tommy Morrison

Louis is a 3-1 favorite in this fight. After losing early in the tournament, he just has to take on a few easier fights to re-establish himself. Louis looks in great shape for this fight, but rumor has it that Morrison over trained and may have left the fight in the gym.

The first round is pretty even, with Morrison jumping out early and landing some shots as the aggressor. Louis has a solid fight plan though and is picking his spots and scoring points.

In round 2, it is all Louis and it gets ugly real fast. He lands power punches at will. Morrison is stumbling around the ring like a rag doll until the ref finally steps in and stops this fight.

Another bout that looks like a mismatch on paper. Demsey just needs to get a couple wins under his belt. He is a 3-1 favorite.

Both fighters look to be in good condition as the opening bell rings.

Right from the start, Dempsey comes out and you can just see he is the better fighter. He imposes his will on Savarese for most of the round. In the second round it is again all Dempsey and late in the round he finally lands the big punch and Savarese just crumples to the canvas. He is down and he is staying down.

Gene Tunney vs. Corrie Sanders

Tunney is a 3-1 favorite, but Sanders had an impressive first round knockout in his first bout. This could be a better fight than expected. Both fighters are in great condition and ready to go.

Tunney is clearly in control of the fight after three rounds. He has dominated each round and probably won all three on the judges cards. Sanders is hanging in there though and with his big punch can turn this whole fight just that quickly.

In rounds 4 and 5, Sanders seems to have found something that works. He is picking his spots, landing some good shots and then tying up Tunney. Tunney is getting frustrated with this tactic and Corrie Sanders is right back in this fight.

Tunney comes back strong in round 6, landing blow after blow and easily taking the round, but in the waning seconds the ref deducts a point from Tunney for a rabbit puch! All that hard work and this may end up being a 9-9 round. Still the damage was done and Sanders looks worse for the wear with a huge swell on his right eye.

Sanders starts out round 7 with a lot of success, but then he gets careless and walks into a right hand that sends him down for a 3 count. Sanders gets right back into the mix, and even though there was knockdown, Sanders did enough in this round to not lose more than a point to Tunney. In fact, he would have won it easily if not for the knockdown. His eye, however continues to get worse as this fight goes on.

In round 8, the action is slow but Tunney was pressing it more than Sanders so he probably gets the round. In the last second of the round, Tunney targets Sanders swollen eye and connects, cutting him open above that same eye. I don’t think the ref will let this go any longer.

As expected the first puch landed by Tunney in round 9 ends this fight. The ref stops it. A great effort by Sanders, and I am sure he will be back with more good fights and wins.

Officially, The winner by TKO at the 0:25 mark of round 9 is Gene Tunney.

Sonny Liston vs. Wladamir Klitschko

Sonny is a 3-2 favorite in this fight. He is just trying to get some wins under his belt before he takes on some of the top contenders. Vlad is 1-0 but the win was a poor showing.

Both fighters are in great shape and ready to rumble.

In the first minute of both rounds 1 and 2, Vlad looks like a champion prize fighter, landing punches at will. But Liston has a chin like nobody else and he absorbed all those hits and it just seemed to piss him off. He came back strong in the second half of each round and probably ended up winning both of them, as well as hurting Vlad pretty badly.

Rounds 3 And 4 follow the same pattern with Vlad starting strong, but Liston winning the round and dealing out more damage in the end. After the 4th round, Vlad’s hands are down low and his lip is split open.

In round 5 it almost seems as if Liston is just toying with Vlad. Finally, midway through the round a devastating body blow sends Vlad to the canvas for an 8 count. As soon as he gets up, Liston puts himi right back down again, but this time only for a 3 count. A few more punches from Liston and the ref stops this one before it gets even uglier.

Officially, The winner by TKO at the 2:50 mark in Round 5 is Sonny Liston!

WBO Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes defends his title against Buster Douglas.

Holmes is a 2-1 favorite in this fight.

Both fighters are in great shape for this title match.

Through three rounds, Holmes is just outclassing Douglas in the ring. While the first round was pretty close, Holmes has since taken over and is dealing out a lot of damage. Douglas already looks exhausted as we begin round 4.

Round 4 was pretty close but things got a bit ugly in round 5. The two fighters have resorted to a lot of clinching and midway through this round they head butted real hard. It did not look intentional, but Douglas’ lip is all busted open and he keeps swiping at it with the glove.

In round 6, the bleeding has stopped, but not the punishment that Holmes is dishing out. He is really dominating this fight, and it seems like sooner rather than later, Holmes will deliver the knockout punch.

In round 7, the tide turns as Douglas catches Holmes with a straight jab to the temple, Holmes knees buckle and he takes a knee! It is just for a second, but it is called a knockdown! Douglas doesn’t seem like he is going to followup on the knockdown, but with just seconds left in the round, he delivers a wicked hook that again sends Holmes to his knee for just a second, but again, it is called a knockdown! Two knockdowns in the round for Buster Douglass!

Early in round 8, Douglas connects again and opens up a cut on top of Holmes left eye. Suddenly, Holmes went from cruising to a victory to now hanging on for dear life and his WBO Title. Something must have went off inside of Holmes when he saw his own blood though. He charges Douglas and lands a heavy barrage of punches that sends Douglas to the canvas! Douglas manages to get up at the count of 8 and the round continues. Holmes moves in for the kill and after landing a ton of punches the ref steps in and stops this one!

Officially, the winner, and STILL WBO Heavyweight Champions, by TKO at the 2:54 mark of round 8, Larry Holmes!

Opening Bout

Joe Frazier vs. Michael Moorer.

Frazier is a 2 to 1 favorite in this fight.

Frazier appears to be in great condition. Moorer has been consistently inconsistent in his training sessions.

Both of these fighters are 0-1 in their careers, and Frazier knows he cannot drop to 0-2 so he comes out firing and makes a mess of Moorer in the first round. Moorer’s left eye is already starting to swell up.

Round 2 is all Frazier and in round 3, Moorer hits canvas for a 5 count. He gets back up but clinches Frazier the rest of the round in order to survive.

Round 4 and 5 is all Frazier as well in this classic mismatch. Midway through Round 5, the ref stops this fight before Moorer gets seriously injured.

The winner by TKO at the 1:42 mark of Round 5 is Joe Frazier!

Preliminary Bout #1

Riddick Bowe vs. Jameel McCline

Bowe is a 2 to 1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters come to the ring in perfect shape.

The frist two rounds go to Bowe as he landed a bunch of power shots on McCline. Meanwhile, McCline was able to score some points in each round, but they came with little jabs that did not damage at all to Bowe. In round 3, McCline started opening it up a bit and that round was a toss up.

Rounds 4 and 5 have Bowe reasserting himself. In Round 5, a cut opened over McClines’s right eye. This fight looks like it is nearly over as Bowe just needs a couple more good shots to put McCline down to the canvas. If that doesn’t happen, the ref may just stop it instead.

Round 6 is all Bowe and it looked as if the ref was ready to stop it near the end. Things take a turn for the wrost for McCline in Round 7. He goes down midway through the round and it takes him until 9 to get to his feet. The ref should have stopped it right there, but instead he allows McCline to take more punishment. One more big sweeping right by Bowe sends McCline slying into the ropes and down. He is unconscious. The count reaches ten and this fight is in the books.

The winner by knockout at the 2:42 mark of Round 7 is Riddick Bowe.

Preliminary Bout #2

Joe Louis vs. Corrie Sanders

Louis is a 3-1 favorite, but Sanders has looked impressive in his 2 fights, winning one and losing the other. Louis looks to be in great considition. Sanders said he has never trained as hard as he has for this fight. Hopefully, he did not overdo it.

Sanders looks nothing like the fighter we saw in his first two fights. He is getting pummeled in the first two rounds of this fight. In round 2, he hit’s the canvas with just a few seconds left in the round. He manages to get up, but he does not look like he will last much longer.

Louis continues to pick apart Sanders in round 3 and finally the ref makes the right call and stops this one.

The winner by TKO at the 2:22 mark of Round 3 is Joe Louis.

Support Bout

Evander Holyfield vs. Andrew Golota

Evander is a 3-2 favorite in this fight. He looks to be in perfect shape for this fight. Golota has a slight paunch in the middle. He could have worked out harder for this fight.

After the first two rounds we appear to have yet another mismatch fight. Holyfield is taking to Golota hard and is easily winning this fight early on. In round 3 Golota starts to fight back, and then Holyfield moves in and they crack heads hard. The ref, McIntosh, steps in and calls an intentional head butt on Holyfield. That butt took Golota off his game, and Holyfield cleaned up in that round again.

Right off the bat in round 4, Holyfield lands a low blow and the ref immediately takes a point away. If Holyfield is not careful here, he may get DQ’d. He is winning this fight easily and should take care to keep it clean. Holyfield finishes the round strong, and you have to wonder how much longer Golota can go on. His left eye is swelling pretty bad at this point as well.

In round 5, Holyfield cuts Golota open under that same left eye that is swollen up. I am a bit surprised the ref is letting this one continue. Golota is out on his feet.

In round 6, Holyfield cuts Golota open over the other eye and the ref has finally seen enough, stopping this one right there.

The winner by TKO at the 1:42 mark of round 6 is Evander Holyfield.

Co-Feature

Mike Tyson vs. Sonny Liston

This should be our only really competitive fight of the night. The odds are even on these fighters. Tyson looks to be in outstanding shape. Liston may have trained too hard for this fight according to reports.

Liston comes out in round 1 and just completely dominates Tyson in the first round. I don’t think Tyson expects him to be so aggressive and it really threw him off his game plan.

In a real shocker, Tyson goes down early in round two, but manages to pop right back up after only a 3 count from the ref. His legs look real shaky though. Just a few seconds later a hard body shot sends Tyson down again. This time it takes until a 6 count for Tyson to get back up. He looks totally lost out there and was obviously not ready for this fight. With 12 seconds left in round 2, Liston floors Tyson again and with the 3 knockdown rule in effect, this fight is over. You have to wonder what happened to Tyson in this fight. He barely landed a punch and had a glass chin.

The winner by TKO at the 2:43 mark of Round 2 is Sonny Liston!

The Main Event

UHC Champion Muhammad Ali vs. Tim Witherspoon for the UHC Title.

Ali needed to get some work in so he took this fight, which should not last long. Ali is a 2-1 favorite. Both fighters look to be in perfect shape as round 1 begins.

Witherspoon puts on a good showing in the early rounds here against Ali. This is Tim’s first professional fight and he figures he has nothing to lose going against the champ, and everything to gain. He easily won the first round and keeps the next 2 rounds pretty close.

Round 4 was pretty even, but round 5 was a very nice one for Witherspoon, and my bet is that he won it easily. Ali looked frustrated on his stool in between rounds and came out in round 6 and started to take control of the fight. He landed several big shots that stunned Witherspoon and had him realing. After 6 rounds, I have Ali ahead, but not by all that much.

In round 7, Witherspoon again looks great and he is getting Ali more confused and frustrated as the rounds go by. In round eight the fighters exchange big punches, but Ali gets the better of it and sends Witherspoon to the canvas for an 8 count. Tim gets out of the round, but the momentum took a huge swing in Ali’s favor and I am sure the judges scorecards did as well. There is still time for Tim to get back into this fight though.

Ali’s first punch of the 9th round opens up a cut on Witherspoon’s head and the ref immediately stops the fight. Witherspoon’s corner is going nuts and Tim is screaming at the ref, asking Why in the hell are you stopping this? The crowd is booing very loudly as the ref quickly makes his way out of the arena.

The winner and still UHC Heavyweight Champion with a TKO at the 0:20 mark in Round 9 is Muhammad Ali!

The judges cards had Lai up 3 or 4 points in this fight at the time it stopped. That is counting the knockdown, so Tim was in this fight up until the knockdown and really still had a shot when it was stopped. Great showing for Tim against the champ, and maybe a rematch will be in order soon.

After the fight, when interviewed, wither spoon went off on the poor referee decision and said that he had Ali confused and frustrated with the great fight plan. He said that Ali was damn lucky to land that one punch which sent him down and changed the fight. He said Ali is lucky it was stopped because he was about to pull off the greatest upset ever.

When told about these comments Ali shrugged them off and just pointed to his belt. He did look frustrated with his performance though, and I am sure he will take Tim much more seriously if they should ever meet again.

Double Elimination Tournament to determine the #1 contender.

Due to the number of fights that will be fought here, the descriptions until the end will be just quick recaps of the fights. I am just trying to get a decent number of fights in before I start some story lines. I really want a more accurate picture of how these fighters rank so there will not be so many mismatches.

This card is coming to you from Arrowhead Pond in California.

Opening Round Results

(1) Larry Holmes vs. (16) Tommy Morrison

Morrison never had a shot today. He came in and just looked for the knockout punch, but never found it. Holmes opened up cuts on his right eye, above and below in the first round. Then he knocked him down in the 5th and then he knocked him out in the 8th.

The winner by TKO at the 2:51 mark of round 8 is Larry Holmes.

(2) Sonny Liston vs. (15) Chris Byrd

Liston looked good early on, but in the second round he came charging ina dn it looks like he broke his nose on Byrd’s forehead. Blood is gushing from his nose and over the next two rounds, his corners cannot get the bleeding to stop. Finally, early in round 4, the ref has to stop the fight! Byrd pulls off the huge upset!

The winner by TKO at the 0:01 mark of round 4 is Chris Byrd!

(3) Mike Tyson vs. (14) Vitali Klitschko

The first three rounds are classic Tyson. He is like an angry pit bull, not even giving Vitali a chance to breathe and almost knocking him down twice. In the third round Tyson get s apoint taken away for leading with the head, but later in the round he cuts Vitali open under the right eye. In rund 4, maybe Tyson was getting way too confident over how easy this was, but he walked right into a thundering right from Vitali that sent him down and through the ropes! He barely got up at the count of 9, and then later in the round Tyson went down once again and it took him until the count of 8 to get up!

In round 5 Tyson just tries to survive and he does. He comes back strong in round 7, almost knocking Vitali down, but in Round 8 Vitali sends Tyson to the canvas once again for a 5 count. Tyson is just being very careless out there. Both fighters have bad swellings over their eyes, and if the ref stops this, who knows who is going to win it.

Round 9 is pretty even, but Tyson loses another valuable point for hitting on the break. Round 10 sees Tyson hit the canvas for the fourth tim ein this fight, but once again he gets back up and keeps fighting. It looks like Tyson is going to need a KO to win this thing, and he might get the TKO due to Vitali’s eyes. There are just 1 more rounds to go!

In round 11, the ref does indeed stop the fight. Both fighter’s eyes are swollen up, but the ref feels Vitali is in danger if he lets this one continue. Somehow, Tyson gets the win in this fight even though he was way behind on all 3 judge’s scorecards and was knocked down 4 times!

The winner by TKO at the 0:41 mark of Round 11 is Mike Tyson!

(4) Rocky Marciano vs. (13) Hasim Rahman

This fight was all Rocky. He dominated Rahman, and put him down in the 2nd, and then put him down for good in the 3rd. Rocky barely broke a sweat.

The winner by KO at the 2:51 mark in Round 3 is Rocky Marciano.

(5) Evander Holyfield vs. (12) Tim Witherspoon

The fans were not even in their seats when Holyfield landed a massive right hook that sent Witherspoon down for the count!

The winner by KO at the 0:43 mark of round 1, Evander Holyfield!

(6) Gene Tunney vs. (11) Corrie Sanders

Sanders is a headhunter and almost lost his in the first two rounds, but in round three landed a huge right to Tunney’s eye and sent him sprawling to the canvas for an 8 count. Tunney’s eye is badly swollen and he is now in a bit of trouble. All that did though is piss Tunney off. He came back in the 4th round and knocked Sanders down twice before the ref stopped this one.

The winner by TKO at the 2:39 mark of Round 4 is Gene Tunney!

(7) Oliver McCall vs. (10) George Foreman

McCall gains an early advantage in the first three rounds, but in round 4, the tide turns when Foreman unloads a big right and drops McCall to the canvas for a 4 count. Foreman continues the assault in round 5, but in round 6, McCall answers back with a shot to the mouth that busts open Foreman’s lip. While Foreman is swiping at the blood on his lip, McCall busts his left eye open!

The taste of his own blood fired Foreman up and he came out and almost put McCall down in the 7th. In the 8th, Foreman is again pounding on McCall, but McCall does land one clean shot that busts the top of Foreman’s left eye open. He is now cut on top and bottom of that left eye, as well as his lip.

Action slows in round 9. While Foreman looks like a badly beaten fighter, I would be willing to bet he is ahead by a decent margin on all of the cards. In rounds 10 and 11 Foreman looks like the better fighter, well besides his busted up face. As we head into the final round, McCall may need a knockout.

The fight ends and we go to the cards:

Jose Coblan scores it 117-110.
Stanley Berg scores it 117-111.
Medardo Villaobos scores it 117-110.

The winner by unanimous decision is George Foreman. Big George better credit his cut man for stopping the bleeding on all three of his cuts very, very fast!

(8) Lennox Lewis vs. (9) Jack Dempsey

The first three rounds were all Dempsey, at least until the closing seconds of round three when Dempsey lost a point for hitting on a break. After that, Lewis took over for the next three rounds and probably won them all. So after 6 rounds this fight is very very close.

In Round 7, Lewis continues the onslaught and knocks Dempsey down. He barely manages to get up and as soon as he does Lewis attacks him and the ref has to step in and stop this one.

The winner by TKO at the 2:41 mark of Round 7 is Lennox Lewis.

Winners bracket - These four fights matchup the winners of the first round.

Larry Holmes (6-1, WBO Champ) vs. Chris Byrd (1-1)

Holmes came out and dominated the first 6 rounds of the fight and knocked down Byrd in the second round, but just a staggering blow. Byrd was up after just 2 seconds. In round 7, Byrd changed the momentum when he knocked Foreman to the canvas. He gained a lot of momentum after that and started chipping away at Foreman’s lead. Foreman had a strong last two rounds though and that is what probably ended up winning this fight for him.

Tony Perez scored it 115-111.
Tyrone Short scored it 116-111.
Don O;Neill scored it 117-109.

Your winner by unanimous decision, Larry Holmes!

Mike Tyson (4-3) vs. Rocky Marciano (3-2)

Rocky came into this fight full of confidence, and Tyson has been looking very unsure of himself in recent fights. The trend continued as Tyson was put down in the first round, and then again for good with a big right hook in the second round. Tyson never got up from that hook.

The winner by KO at the 1:56 mark of Round 2 is Rocky Marciano.

Evander Holyfield (3-0) vs. Gene Tunney (3-1)

Tunney came in looking for a quick knockout and busted open Evander’s eye in the first round. His cut man could not get that thing to stop bleeding and in the fourth round the ref halted the fight and called the doctor to the ring. After a few seconds the doctor stopped the fight, saying that Evander’s eye was in terrible shape and he cannot go on.

The winner by TKO at the 2:04 mark of Round 4 is Gene Tunney

George Foreman (2-1) vs. Lennox Lewis (2-2)

The fight was pretty even through the first three rounds, but in round 4, Foreman caught Lewis in the corner and landed a barrage of punches, landing maybe 7 or 8 in a row. Lewis took a knee but got up to continue. It was not long after that when Lewis stopped fighting back and the ref immediately stepped in and called this one off.

The winner by TKO at the 2:56 mark of Round 4 is George Foreman.

Loser’s Bracket - These matchups are of the losing fighters from round 1. The losers here go home with their second loss.

Tommy Morrison (0-3) vs. Sonny Liston (3-2)

Liston was determined not to be sent home after just 2 fights. He came out and landed an uppercut that sent Morrison reeling. His second punch was just a straight right that sent Morrison into next week. Morrison could not answer the 10 count and this fight is over before Liston’s corner even got the stool out of the corner!

The winner by KO at the 0:49 mark in Round 1 is Sonny Liston.

Vitali Kitsch (1-2) vs. Hasim Rahman (0-2)

The first round was pretty even, but coming out in the second round, Rahman landed a right cross that spun Vitali right around! Vitali never recovered fromt hat blow and was just running for his life in the second round. Rahman finally caught him in the corner and was just landing combinations at will before the ref had to stop this.

The winner by TKO at the 2:19 mark of Round 2 is Hasim Rahman.

Tim Witherspoon (0-2) vs. Corrie Sanders (1-3)

Corrie Sanders wasted no time in getting to Witherspoon today. He pummeled him in round 1 and sent him to the canvas in round 2. He sominated round 3-6 and then put him on the canvas in round 7. Witherspoon got back up, but only to get clobbered some more. The ref finally had to let Witherspoon off the hook before he got knocked out.

The winner by TKO at the 2:05 mark of Round 7 is Corrie Sanders.

Oliver McCall (1-3) vs. Jack Dempsey (1-2)

McCall came out and got himself a solid victory in Round 1, but Dempsey is another fighter that is way too proud to go home from this tournament with a 2-0 record. He pulled out all the stops in the second round, sending McCall to his back 3 times in the one round.

The winner of this fight, by TKO at the 2:32 mark of Round 2 is Jack Dempsey.

Larry Holmes (7-1) vs. Rocky Marciano (4-2)

Holmes look pretty good in the first three rounds, winning at least two of them and maybe three, but Rocky put him to the canvas in the 4th round and Holmes was never able to really recover.

He lost that round and probably the next 4 as Rocky just continued to take it to the WBO Champ. Holmes showed some signs of life in round 9, cutting Rocky’s lip open with a hard right. But Rocky responded by dropping Holmes in the 10, and then dropping him three times in the 11th to win via the 3 knockdown rule.

The winner by TKO at the 2:13 mark of Round 11 is Rocky Marciano.

Gene Tunney (4-1) vs. George Foreman (3-1)

The fighters batlted evenly in the first 2 rounds, but Tunney went down in the third and he was not the same fighter after that. While neither fighter hit the canvas the rest of the way, Tunney was badly weakened by the knockdown and lost almost every round after that.

Jose Rivera scored the fight 117-110.
Rudolpho Maldonado scored it 118-110.
Fritz werner scored It 118-109.

2nd Elimination Round - All of these fighters are 1-1 in the tournament, and a loss here sends them home.

Sonny Liston (4-2) vs. Lennox Lewis (2-3)

Sonny just dominated this fight. He won rounds 1-5 on all three judges cards, and had a 10-8 round when he knocked Lewis down in the 5th. However, it took only 1 lucky punch from Lewis to end this fight in the 6th. He landed a viscious combination and then followed with a straight right that sent Liston down. Liston’s heart got him to his feet, but his legs said no and he crumpled to the canvas for a 10 count!

The winner by KO at the 145 mark of Round 6 is Lennox Lewis.

Liston was leading 50-44 on all three judges cards at that point. Liston goes home extremely disappointed in his performance.

Hasim Rahman (1-2) vs. Evander Holyfield (3-1)

Rahman looked to be in control of this fight, even knocking Holyfield down for a brief moment in the 3rd round. But Holyfield regroups after that and landed the knockout punch in round 5. At the tim eof the knockout, Rahman was leading on the cards by a point or two from each judge.

The winner by KO at the 2:12 mark of Round 5i s Evander Holyfield.

Corrie Sanders (2-3) vs. Mike Tyson (4-4)

Tyson landed an early punch that cut Sanders’ eye and it started to swell up pretty fast. But Sanders really dominated Tyson in this fight. Tyson again looked out of sorts and hit the canvas in both rounds 3 and 4. However, that one punch that cut Sanders eye open came back to haunt him and the ref had to stop the fight, despite the fact that Sanders was controlling it mostly the whole way.

The winner by TKO at the 2:02 mark of Round 5 is Mike Tyson.

Jack Dempsey (2-2) vs. Chris Byrd (1-2)

Dempsey totally outclassed Byrd in this fight. Dropping him once in the 1st round and then again in round 2. Byrd got up both times, but it was obviously he had nothing left and the ref stopped this one before somebody got seriously injured.

The winner by TKO at the 2:58 mark of Round 2 is Jack Dempsey!

This was a pretty slwo moving fight that went the distance. Foreman took a knee to get away from a onslaught of punches in the 4th round. Rocky was put down once in the 10th round. The fighters seemed to keep trading rounds in this fight, but mostly with little action. When it came down to it….

Lennox Lewis (3-3) vs. Evander Holyfield (4-1)

This was another very boring fight. It went the distance and there was little to no action through most of the fight. Evander slipped in the 10th rounds, but the ref called it a knockdown. Replays clearly showed the punch never connected. In the end it costed him the fight.

Adelaide Triplett scored the fight 114-114.
Moo-Hoon Moon scored it 116-111.
Pete Tremeterra scored it 116-111.

The winner, by majority decision, Lennox Lewis!

Mike Tyson (5-4) vs. Jack Dempsey (3-2)

Tyson is in a bad funk and cannot seem to get himself out of it. He went down early in the first weith a rib shot that didn’t even look to hard. Tyson recovered and stayed alive in the fight, trading rounds with Dempsey for most of the way. However, in the 8th, Dempsey sent Tyson to the mat again for an 8 count. When Tyson got up, Dempsey just flattened him and he stayed down for a 10 count. The judges only had Dempsey up by 2 or 3 points when the fight ended.

The winner by KO at the end of round 8 is Jack Dempsey!

Lennox Lewis (4-3) vs. Larry Holmes (7-2)

The winner by TKO at the 2:49 mark of Round 7 is Larry Holmes

Jack Dempsey (4-2) vs. Gene Tunney (4-2)

After a few rounds the crowd continuously booed the fighters for the remaining fight. They were not there to see a chess match, which is what this fight turned into. Neither fighter got marked up because neither fighter threw a whole bunch of punches. That makes for a tough fight to judge, but here were the results after 12 long and boring rounds:

Robert Paolino scores the bout 115-114 for Dempsey.
Glenn Feldman scores it 117-112 for Tunney.
Bill Graham scores it 116-113, and the winner by split decision is Gene Tunney!

Opening Bout:

Jack Johnson vs. Jersey Joe Wolcott

It is the first professional fight for these two men. Johnson is a 3-2 favorite on the books. Both fighters come to the ring in perfect fight shape.

Round 1 was a clear victory for Wolcott, but Johnson started to find the openings in the next couple of rounds and is starting to take control of this fight after 3 rounds.

Wolcott comes back in round 4 to land some good shots and he is getting the jab working as well. In Round 5, Johnson opens up a pretty large gash over Wolcott’s left eye. The cut is still bleeding in round 6, but it doesn’t seem to be bothering him much as he takes that round. After 6 rounds, this fight is dead even.

Over the next three rounds, the fighters are still trading rounds back and forth and there is still no clear cut leader in this fight.

In rounds 10 and 11, Johnson looked like the aggressor, but Wolcott still landed some shots. Both rounds could have gone either way. Unless somebody steps up with a big round 12, this decision is a total mystery.

Both fighters must have felt that they won this fight because there was little action in round 12. We go to the cards.

Isidro Rodriguez scores the bout 115-113 for Jersey Joe Wolcott.
Robert Grasso scores the bout 114-114.
Arthur Mercante scores the bout 114-114.

The fight is declared a majority draw!

David Tua vs. Hasim Rahman

The books have this fight listed as even odds. Both fighters are in great shape.

The first two rounds see a ton of punches thrown and landed for heavy damage by both fighters. Neither fighter really has an advantage though. The action slows a bit in round 3, but early in round 4, Tua lands a cross to the head of Rahman that staggers him and then drops him to the canvas for a 5 count. Tua comes after Rahman, trying to finish him off and sends him sprawling to the mat again with another cross. Rahman is down for a 6 count. As soon as he gets up, Tua attacks, and quickly knocks him back down. That ends this fight.

The winner by TKO at the 2:06 mark of Round 4 is David Tua.

Preliminary Bout #2

Riddick Bowe vs. Buster Douglas

Bowe is a 2-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters come to the ring looking very sharp.

A flurry of action from Douglas in the first round has Bowe covering up and trying to survive early on. In Round 2, Douglas looks like he spent his entire load in the first round and is backing up from Bowe’s big punches the entire round. Just seconds into round 3, Bowe rains down a combination of blows to the head and body of Douglas that sends him down to taste the canvas. Douglas tries to get up, but he cannot beat the 10 count.

The winner by KO at the 0:28 mark of Round 3 is Riddick Bowe.

Andrew Golota vs. Jack Dempsey

Dempsey is a 2-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters are in great condition.

Some nice action in the first round sees Dempsey take a slight advantage in points and a rather large advantage in damage done. In round 2, Dempsey hits Golota clean with a shot to the ribs that doubles him over and drops him for an 8 count. Dempsey senses he can make the kill and goes after Golota hard, raining down blows. When the ref sees that Golota is not firing back and his guard is dropping, he steps in and ends this one quickly.

The winner by TKO at the 2:33 mark of Round 2 is Jack Dempsey!

Evander Holyfield vs. Gene Tunney

The odds are even on this fight. Both fighters are in perfect shape for this fight.

Through the first three rounds both fighters have landed some nice punches and so far we have a very competitive, clean fight. Nobody has taken an advantage yet.

Nothing in decided over the next couple of rounds, but in round 5, the fighters butt heads and it looks like Tunney may have had his nose broken by the butt. He is bleeding quite heavily from the nose.

Tunney’s corner does a great job of stopping the bleeding and he comes out with a very solid round 6. This fight is still dead even.

Tunney has a solid 7th round and then has a spectacular 8th round, almost knocking Holyfield down twice in the round! But Holyfield is tough and has remained standing in this fight. He may have given the advantage to Tunney on the cards as of right now, but there is still plenty of fight left in him. Holyfield does have some swelling under his right eye.

Holyfield comes back strong in the next two rounds and may have taken both of them. This fight is dead even still.

The 11th round is dead even. The swelling on Holyfield’s eye is getting worse, but I don’t think it will affect the outcome of this fight with only 1 round to go.

Tunney has been letting Holyfield be the aggrssor lately, but he comes out like a champ in the 12th and final round and knocks holyfield to the canvas! Holyfield is right back up at the count of 4 and the round continues. Tunney can smell victory and knocks Holyfield down again. He barely responds but gets up at the count of 9! With less than a minute to go in the fight, the ref stops it! Holyfield is going out of his mind and his corner is holding him back from attacking the referee! A melee is going on in the ring as security rushes in to try and break things up.

The winner by TKO at the 2:10 mark of Round 12 is Gene Tunney.

Welcome to the Main Event.

Twelve rounds of boxing from Madison Square Garden for the undisputed UHC Heavyweight Championship of the world!

In the red corner, hailing from

Ali looks a bit soft for this fight. I hope he is not underestimating Holmes. Holmes meanwhile looks to be in perfect shape and has left no loose ends for his title shot.

The fighters are feeling each other out early in round 1, but then Ali makes an early move and lands some solid rights to Holmes’ jaw.

Both fighters score some points with some excellent counter punching in round 2.

Ali is the aggressor in round 3, landing some huge right hands that make Holmes stumble backwards. After landing 3 or 4 of these, Ali moves in for the kill, but he is met with some big rights from Holmes that sends Ali reeling!

Round 4 was a solid round for Ali. He landed a bunch of jabs and a couple of rights, while Holmes was having trouble breaking Ali’s defense.

Ali continues to rack up points in Round 5 with some solid combinations on Holmes. It seems Ali is changing up his attack every round and is confusing Holmes, he never knows what to expect right now.

Ali starts off round 6 in style, landing blow after blow, but much like in round 3, Holmes finds his fight in the second half of the round and comes back strong, staggering Ali a few times.

Ali comes back with an impressive round 7, almost putting Holmes to the mat twice in that round. Holmes is definitely starting to fall behind in this fight and needs to rally soon. He has a bit of swelling starting to show under his left eye.

Holmes starts his rally in the 8th round, landing numerous big shots. This is the first round in a while that Holmes dominated and easily took on the cards.

Ali fights back in the 9th, but Holmes doesn’t back down and the fighters both looked pretty even in that round.

Holmes continues to dig deep down and come up with big punches when in a tight spot, but in this round, Ali had a late flurry of clean shots that may have won this round for him. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ali with a large lead, but on the other hand, the judges could have given some of the close rounds to Holmes instead.

Round 11 got really intense as the two fighters stood at center ring and traded shots. This time Holmes had the late flurry that may have gotten him the round.

Holmes tried to finish up this fight strong and make a last impression upon the judges. Ali seemed content to dance around and take his chances on the cards. Either way, this has been a tremendous title fight with these two heavyweights slugging it for the title.

Hector Hernandez scores the bout 115-114.
Jean Giacomontonio scores it 117-111.
Juan Moralez scores it 117-111.

David ‘The assassin’ Gonzalez vs. Vitali Klitschko

The books have newcomer David Gonzalez as a 3-2 favorite in this fight. Both fighters enter the ring looking in perfect shape for this fight.

Gonzalez loked nervoud in his first round as a professional fighter. He landed a few shots, but Vitali tried to intimidate the youngster with some flash. He also did a little holding and hitting, for which he got a warning for. But he was able to shake the confidence of the young Gonzalez and if this round lasted another 30 seconds, he might have tasted his first canvas.

In between rounds, his corner calmed Gonzalez down a bit and went over everything they talked about pre-fight. In this round he looked a bit better and maybe even took the round from the veteran.

Gonzalez is looking more confident with each round. In the third, he landed some nice shots that had Vitali clinching a lot to catch his breathe.

Gonzalez tried to push the action even more in round 4, but he was missing his shots and getting clobbered with counter punches from Vitali.

Gonzalez didn’t look too sharp in round 5, and Vitali took advantage, landing punch after punch after punch. Eventually, Gonzalez just put his guard up and forget to try and fight back. Seeing this, the ref had no other option but to stop this fight.

The winner, by TKO at the 2:51 mark of Round 5 is Vitali Klitscko!

Preliminary Fight #1

Jace Hunter vs. Tommy Morrison

Hunter is a 2-1 favorite in his first ever professional fight. Both fighters trained hard and look ready to rumble.

Hunter almost looks like a seasoned pro in his first preofessional fight. He easily takes the round from veteran Tommy Morrison.

In round 2, Morrison really frustrated Hunter with a lot of holding and clinching. Hunter just didn’t know what to do with him and had to absorb a few big punches trying to ward off the attacking Morrison.

Hunter comes back with a very solid round three, landing a few combinations and some jabs to score a lot of points. I would give Hunter 2 of the first 3 rounds.

Round 4 was a close round, with Hunter falling in love with the combinations and even landing a 4 punch combo. Morrison continues to try and plow his way in and dig from the inside into Hunter’s body.

Round 5 is also a very even round. Hunter is able to land some nice shots, but he is not doing much to block Morrison’s attacks.

In round 6, Hunter takes a wicked hook to the temple and goes down like a sack of potatoes. He is only down for a 4 count, but this is going to hurt his chances. Hunter avoids Morrison for the rest of the round and heads to his corner to regroup. Halfway through this scheduled 12 rounder, I would say that knockdown has given Morrison a slight advantage.

Hunter comes out swinging in round 7 and almost immediately lands a crippling blow to the ribs of Morrison that sends him down for a 6 count! Morrison does a good job avoiding Hunter for the rest of the round.

Hunter takes a shot early in the 8th round and gets cut under his right eye. The two fighters slug it out in a great boxing display in this round. Morrison might have gotten the advantage in this round with some heavy rights and opening up the cut.

The blood is still flwing in round 9, but it seems to have gotten Hunter’s juices flowing as he pummeled Morrison for 3 straight minutes. I have no idea how Morrison did not go down in this round, but it was an easy round for Hunter.

In round 10, Hunter throws a right cross and levels Morrison. It takes him an 8 count to recover and get back up to try and finish the round. As soon as he gets up, Hunter sends him back down again. This time for a 6 count. Hunter knows this fight is there for the taking and goes after Morrison. It only took a few more seconds to level him again, for the third knockdown of the fight.

The winner by TKO at the 2:00 mark of Round 10 is Jace Hunter!

Preliminary Bout #2:

Kyle “Dutch Mafia” Kappe vs. Lou Savarese

Kappe is a 4-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters look in excellent condition and are ready to get it on.

Kappe looks like the real deal in the first round as he was able to land clean shots at will on Savarese. Meanwhile, Lou was barely able to get his leather on anything but the arms of Kappe.

Kappe is not being overly aggressive in round 2, but taking whatever Savarese is giving him, and that is actually a lot. Kappe landed some nice punches including one that cut Lou open over his left eye. The blood poured down into his eye and he was constantly swiping at it.

Kappe sees the blood trickling from Lou’s forehead in the 3rd round and targets it directly, landing several big hits and tearing it open even more. The ref keeps a careful eye on Savarese. After more damaging hits, the ref has seen enough and jumps in between the two fights.

The winner, by TKO at the 2:46 mark of Round 3 is Kyle “Dutch Mafia” Kappe!

Riddick Bowe vs. Evander Holyfield

The books have this fight at even odds.

Both fighters are in great shape for this one.

Bowe comes out like a man possessed and starts hammering away at Holyfield. There is nothing Evander can do put put up his guard, but one big right gets through and sends Holyfield sprawling to the mat as the round ends. Has anyone done that to Evander before??

Holyfield shakes off the knockdown and catches Bowe as he comes after him looking for another knock down. He stuns Bowe and continues to work him over for the rest of the round.

The two fighters battle it out pretty evenly through round 3, but in round four, Holyfield throws a viscious uppercut into Bowe’s chin while he has him pinned in the corner. Bowe never saw it coming and crumpled to the ground. Bowe tries to get up using the ropes as an aide, but he is stumbling everywhere and at the count of 8 collapses to the canvas!

Mike Tyson vs. Lennoz Lewis

This books have this fight as even. Both fighters have been showing a great amount of inconsistency as of late, although their competition has been pretty stiff. Rumor has it that Tyson under trained for this fight. But we also know that Lewis has taken a lot of time off as well.

Round 1 is about what you would expect from these two guys. Tyson gets a warning for holding and hitting, so Lewis counters with a low blow that he gets warned for. Later in the first, Lewis lands a huge shot to Tyson’s face and his nose starts leaking blood.

Over the next two rounds it is obvious these two guys just want to knock each other out. They do not like each other and it shows in the ring. The fight is pretty even so far, but both guys are taking a ton of damage and neither is going to last 12 rounds.

In round 4, Tyson’s nose is still bleeding and Lewis leads with his head and smashes into Tyson’s face. The ref halts the fight and takes a point away from Lewis for the head butt.

Tyson’s nose has finally stopped bleeding in the 5th, but Lewis goes after it trying to start the flow of blood up again. This round was all Lewis and after5 rounds, this fight is about dead even.

Tyson lands some big shots on Lewis in round 6, and Lewis again resorts to a head butt. Tyson screams at the ref to DQ Lewis, but he only takes another point away and lets the fight go on.

Round 7 is decidedly in favor of Lewis and that really pissed Tyson off because he comes out and smokes Lewis with a barrage of punches that sends Lewis to the canvas! He answers the ten count and the fight resumes. Tyson comes after him hard. It looks like he literally want to kill him in the ring. Tyson unleashes another flurry of punches and Lewis goes down again, this time for an 8 count. Tyson continues the onslaught and the ref has no choice but to stop this amazing fight!

The winner by TKO at the 2:16 mark of Round 8 is Iron Mike Tyson!

George Foreman vs. Gene Tunney for the vacant IBF Heavyweight Title.

The odds are even on this fight. Both fighters are in excellent shape for this title fight.

Tunney is getting the better of Big George through three rounds. I would score it 2 rounds to 1. George looks tired already for some reason. He is taking some big shots, but he should be able to absorb some of that punishment.

Round 4 again goes to Tunney, and in round 5, sensing victory is near, Tunney aims for the head and connects twice. Once opening up a cut over his right eye, and the other one opening a cut under the same eye. Big George looks like a big mess and is in deep trouble here.

Rounds 6, 7 and 8 are all a repeat of one another with Tunney just destroying George as the fans look on in amazement that George has not his the canvas yet. There is no way he should still be on his feet.

Finally in round 10, after 2 more rounds of punishment, Big George goes down. If he is smart, he will just stay there, but the man has a bigger heart than a brain and he gets up at the count of 9. Foreman takes more abuse in the round, but gets out of it alive.

Foreman goes to his knee after a particularly hard right in the 11th round, but pops back up. You can shoot this guy with a gun and he will keep coming after you. Tunney gets a hearty boo from the crowd as he uses an open glove on George and gets a point taken away. I think Tunney is just frustrated that he cannot put George away.

We head into round 12, and George looks batter, bruised and totally spent, but he gives the fans what they paid for…an amazing round 12 from Foreman. He gave everything he had and even had Tunney back peddaling in this round. He probably won his only round of the fight in the 12th. When the final bell sounds the fans are applauding very loudly, but when Big George acknowledges them the fans give him a standing ovation for the guts and effort he put forth tonight. They don’t stop until the announcer read the scores….

Jae-Bong Kim scores the fight 117-108.
Kamal Hasan scores it 116-109.
William Hutt scores it 117-107.

Mike Tokunaga vs. Jameel McCline

Tokunaga is a 2-1 favorite in his first professional fight. Both fighters come to the ring and appear to be in great shape.

Tokunaga seemed tentative to begin this fight and absorbed some shots from McCline because of it. Bost as round 1 wore on he started to pick his spots and deliver some hurting of his own.

In round 2, Tokunaga goes in head first and is issued a warning for head butting. Other than that, it was a solid round for Mike.

Round 3 was the first round that Tokunaga showed no fear in the ring and it paid off big. He started jabbing McCline and that opened him up for some big body blows later in the round . At this point, I would be surprised if Tokunaga has not taken all three rounds on the cards.

Round 4 is another solid round for Tokunaga. The only time he is getting tagged is when he fires a punch and misses. McCline is sending back some nice counters on those exchanges.

In round 5, Tokunaga continues to land big punches, but McCline sneak a swift jab right in there and cuts Tokunaga open under his left eye. Immediately following that, Tokunaga leads in with his head again and the ref halts things and takes a point away from Mike. With the point deduction that was probably an even round. McCline has some swelling on his left eye. Mike’s corner was able to close up that cut very fast in between rounds.

In round 6, Tokunaga gets another point deducted for backhanding, which makes this another even round since Tokunaga is pretty much in a different class than McCline today.

Very early in round 7, Tokunaga sends McCline to the canvas for an 8 count. Mike just didn’t seem to want to end this one though and very few punches were thrown after the knockdown. Mike is clearly way ahead in this fight though, and McCline’s eye is getting much worse as this fight wears on.

In round 8, Tokunaga comes out looking to end this thing and late in the round he sends McCline down with a big sweeping right. McCline answers to a 7 count, but Mike sends him right back down to stay.

David Gonzalez vs. Lou Savarese

David is a 3-1 favorite and really should rebound from the loss he took in his first fight and dominate this one. Both fighters enter the ring in tip top shape.

Round 1 looks like a mismatch as Gonzalez is basically able to call his shots and land them with amazing accuracy. Savarese was only able to sneak a few weak shots in.

Round 2 is a repeat of round 1, and with just a few seconds left in the round, Gonzalez sends Savarese down to a knee. It was just a hard stinging right to the nose that buckled his knees.

In round 3, Gonzalez landed a shot so hard this Savarese’s mouth piece came flying out. It is not a question of if Gonzalez will win this fight, but when?

Round 4 is more of the same and early in round 5, Gonzalez lands another shot that sends Savarese down to a knee for a quick 3 count. David just cannot finish Savarese off in this round though.

In round 6, Gonzalez got a little cocky and lazy and Savarese landed some nice shots. They didn’t really have much sting on them, but they might have won Savarese his first round of the fight.

Savarese goes down again in round 7, but gets up at the count of 5. You have to wonder how, and why, he keeps getting up. He sends Savarese down a second tim ein the round, but once again Lou gets to his feet. Finally, David gets the third knockdown and the fight is stopped.

Hunter looks much better in round 2, landing big shot after big shot, but when once of them missed, Klitschko countered with a massive right that dropped Hunter like he had been shot! Hunter barely gets up at the count of 9. In round 3, Vitali could sense that Hunter is out on his feet and moves in for the kill. It looked like the ref was going to stop the fight when Hunter just crumbled to the canvas. He doesn’t move and the count reaches 10. Vitali is eating up our FOFC fighters.

McCall must be shaken up because he is just running away from Kappe this entire round. Kappe did manage to land a few shots though and take the round.

In round 3, Kyle lands a hard right into the ribcage of McCall and sends him down for an 8 count. Lappe moves in for the kill and is just pummeling McCall. He gets him in a corner and just starts unloading until the ref has to pull Kappe away and stop this fight!

Rocky Marciano vs. David Tua

Rocky is a 2-1 favorite. Both fighters are in great shape.

Rocky came out and dominated the first two rounds of the fight. It looked like Tua did not even prepare for what Rocky brings to the ring. In round 3, Tua semmed to settle down and take what Rocky was giving him. Tua landed some nice punches that sent Rocky on his heels a bit.

Tua keeps it going in round 4 to take that round, but Rocky storms back in round 5 sending Tua reeling and reaching for the ropes to keep himself up. Rocky’s momentum is broken when the ref takes a point away for a rabbit punch. It looked as if Rocky might have been ready to end the fight at that point too.

Tua comes back strong in round 6 and Rocky has a second point taken away for a rabbit punch. This could very well be scored as a 10-8 round for Tua, which might give him the lead halfway through this fight, even though Rocky looks to be in control for most of the time.

Rocky knows he needs to stop being foolish and kicks it into high gear in round 7, knocking Tua down towards the end of the round for a 5 count. That punch causes a huge swelling around Tua’s left eye and his corner is working frantically on it.

In round 8, Rocky thorws a backhanded punch and the ref takes a third point away from him! You have to wonder what in the world Rocky is doing out there when he is controlling this fight, yet in a dead heat on the cards.

Rocky comes back strong in the 9th round, and once again Tua is running for his life. His eye looks just downright ugly and I don’t think the ref will let this go much longer.

Rocky has another solid outting in the 10th, but Tua landed a solid jab that tore the skin open under Rocky’s right eye and he is bleeding pretty bad. Tua’s eye looks like it is ready to explode. His corner is pretty concerned and the ref is taking a hard look at it.

As expected the first big punch landed on Tua’s face has the ref stop this fight before he gets seriously injured.

The winner by TKO at the 0:44 mark of Round 11 is Rocky Marciano!

Ali is a 2-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters are in great shape.

You would think Vlad would come into this title shot fight with a perfect game plan, but he lets Ali run circles around him, landing lefts and rights at will. It only took 2 minutes for Ali to send Vlad to the canvas for a 6 count.

Ali just picks apart Vlad over the next two rounds, easily winning them and sustaining no damage at all on his end. Vlad looks exhausted already.

Over the next three rounds, Vlad shows a bit of life, and maybe even won round 4, but Ali is in total command of this fight. It looked like Vlad was out on his feet in round 6, but Ali could not land that big right that would have ended the fight.

In rounds 7 and 8 the action slows way down. Ali just seems to be biding his time and waiting for the right moment. Meanwhile. Vlad is picking up points with a soft jab.

In round 9, Ali goes for the kill and lands a bunch of punches, the last which spins Vlad around and sends him down to the canvas for a 10 count.

Final Round

Kyle Kappe vs. Joe Frazier

Both fighters are in perfect shape for this bout.

Kappe comes out in round 1 looking to avenge his first loss of the season and has Frazier stunned almost immediately. He tries to go for the early kill and it looked like Frazier was going to drop already, but somehow he held on despite the barrage by Kappe! Frazier already has a swelling under his right eye!

Frazier comes back just as strong in round 2, and dishes out a huge amount of punishment. Neither of these fighters are backing down, and both of them want to other’s head. The swelling increases on Frazier’s eye and it could do him in eventually.

Frazier knows he won’t last 12 rounds with that eye, so he us head hunting in round 3. Both fighters land big blows and it was a very even round.

Round 4 is a big one for Kappe, but he had some of the steam knocked out of him when Frazier resorted to a low blow to slow the onslaught.

Kappe scores another big round in the 5th, and he landed some devastating jabs to that swollen eye, making it really really ugly. The ref cannot let this go on much longer.

And just as expected, the ref stops the fight as soon as round 6 begins!

The winner by TKO at the 0:04 mark of Round 6 is Kyle “Dutch Mafia” Kappe!

Opening Bout

David Yellope vs. Hasim Rahman

David is a 2-1 favorite in his first professional fight. Both fighters have trained hard and look to be in great shape.

David looks completely comfortable out there in his first round of action, and was running his gameplan to perfection.

Round 2 was also dominated by Yellope. He is just in a whole other class than Rahman at this point.

Round 3 was a nearly perfect round for Yellope. He landed upstairs and downstairs. He landed with jabs and hard rights. He leads this fight 3 rounds to zero.

Yellope finally knocks Rahman down in the 4th round. Rahman gets back up and David goes for the kill. He rains down power punches and Rahman is doing nothing to fight back so the ref jumps in and stops the fight. Yellope looked very impressive in his professional debut!

The winner by TKO at the 2:43 mark of Round 4 is The American Bear, David Yellope!

Preliminary Bout #1

Mike Tokunaga vs. Jersey Joe Wolcott.

Tokunaga is a 3-2 favorite in this fight. He looks to be in great shape, but Wolcott looks just a bit soft and maybe under trained.

Jersey Joe does not look like he under trained in the first round though. He just had his way with Tokunaga, landing punches at will.

In round 2, Tokunaga lands a wicked 3 punch combination that forces Wolcott to go down on a knee for 3 seconds to catch a breather. Mike went right after Jersey Joe when he got back up and several times it looked the ref was going to jump in there, but somehow, Wolcott threw a few punches and came out of that round, alive, but barely.

Wolcott came back with a very solid third round. His punches are not quite as strong as they were due to the beating he took in round 2, but he landed a bunch of them and took the round.

Wolcott continued to have success in round 4, landing many more punches. Tokunaga is headhunting though and with just a few seconds left in the round, he landed a big shot to the top of the head and Wolcott’s knees buckled and one touched the mat. It was called a knockdown and he is very frustrated because he was just 5 seconds from taking that round.

Wolcott regroups and has yet another fine round in the 5th, easily winning it on points. If it wasn’t for the two knockdowns, he would be ahead by a decent margin. Instead this fight is dead even.

Round 6 is another big one for Wolcott and he is able to knock Tokunaga down in the round for an 8 count. It seems Wolcott is wearing Tokunaga down, while Tokunaga is just throwing knockout punches.

Wolcott is starting to take over this fight now. In the 7th, he scored another victory over Tokunaga. Mike goes down again in the 8th round, but only for a 4 count. When he gets back up, Wolcott moves in and tries to send him down again. While he landed the shots to do it, Tokunaga stayed on his feet. He has a nasty swelling on his right eye now.

Tokunaga must have found his second wind in round 9, because he looked like a fresh fighter in that round. Wolcott had a surprised look on his face and took a beating in that round.

Wolcott regroups for round 10, and is able to land a haymaker that splits Tokunaga’s eye open. With the blood flowing freely, the ref stops this one.

The winner by TKO at the 2:06 mark of Round 10 is Jersey Joe Wolcott!

Preliminary Bout #2

Timmy Kings vs. Jameel McCline

Kings is a 2-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters are in perfect shape for this one.

Kings looked pretty solid in his first professional round. He traded punches with McCline and probably came out a bit ahead. Basically, the fighters were just feeling each other out though.

Round 2 is another slow one, but Kings left himself open a few times and the veteran, McCline took those opportunity to score some points.

The action started to heat up in round 3. Kings started finding hit spots and he landed some heavy artillery on McCline. McCline was countering on the misses, but this round goes to Kings.

Kings started out the 4th round looking great, but then let down his guard and McCline took the opportunity to steal the round from him in the last minute. After 4, this fight is dead even.

Kings took the fight to McCline in the 5th and the two fighters continue swapping rounds.

Kings is feeling confident now and is starting to take over the fight. Midway through the 6th round he lands a shot that cuts McCline open over his right eye. Towards the end of the round he put McCline down on his back for a 6 count.

Round 7 was another perfect round for King. He opened up another cut on McCline, this time under his left eye. McCline looks like a real mess and he is not going to last much longer.

Kings continues to rack up the points in the 8th round, but McCline lands a desperation shot that cut open Kings left eye.

McCline has to take a knee near the end of round 9. Kings just cannot put the finishing touch on him, but McCline would need a knockout to win this one.

We are at round 10, and the action slowed way down in this round. Kings has done enough to win this one and is not pressing anymore. McCline just doesn’t have anything left to give.

McCline is way behind again in round 11. He might need to knockout Kings twice n the 12th to win this one.

Kings didn’t want to wait the final 3 minutes for this fight to end, so he decks McCline early in the 12 and McCline stays down.

The winner by KO at the 1:00 mark of Round 12 is Timmy Kings!

Joe Louis vs. Vitali Klitschko

Louis is a 2-1 favorite in this fight, but he has a slight paunch. This could be a sign of under training. Vitali looks to be in great shape.

Louis came into this fight like a man on the mission. He dominated Vitali in round 1, and then in round 2 it really began. He knocked him down early in the round, and then when he got up, Louis cut him over his left eye and then knocked him down a second time. Vitali’s left eye is bleeding and swollen up and I don’t know if he will make it out of the third.

Round 3 is all Joe Louis, but in round 4, Vitali seems to be making a last ditch effort to win this fight. He threw everything he had at Louis, but Joe was able to withstand it. In round 5, Joe could tell Vitali was spent and tried to knock him out. He couldn’t send him down, but he is just murdering him out there. Both of Vitali’s eyes are all swelled up and I am not even sure he can see right now.

Louis knocks down Vitali twice in the 6th round, but when Vitali gets to his feet after the second knockdown, the ref won’t let him continue.

The winner by TKO at the 2:56 mark of Round 6 is Joe Lewis!

Joe Frazier vs. Larry Holmes for Holmes’ WBO Heavyweight Title.

The fight has even odds in the books. Both fighters are in great condition and ready to get it on.

After 4 rounds, both fighters have landed their share of huge shots, and both fighters are feeling the affects of it. However, Holmes is getting the better of Frazier at this point and my guess would be he has taken 3 of the 4 rounds, although two of them were pretty close.

Over the next two rounds, Frazier starts rallying and is getting the better of Holmes. After 6 rounds this fight is about as close as it could be.

Frazier was all over Holmes in round 7, I don’t know how Holmes stayed up as long as he did, but finally with about 15 second left, after about the 10th right he took to the face, Holmes went down for the 10 count!

The winner, and NEW WBO Heavyweight champion of the World, is Joe Frazier!!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the Main Event of the Evening!

Tonight we have 12 rounds of boxing for the UHC heavyweight Title of the world.

This bout is sanctioned by the Las Vegas boxing commission. Scoring is on a 10 point must system. The three knockdown rule IS in affect and the fighter cannot be saved by the bell in any round, except for the 12th and final round.

Now to Jimmy Lennon Jr. for the introductions

Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. This fight is being brought to you by OOTP Developments, the FOFC Community and Marmellion Productions.

Introducing first, the challenger. Hailing from The Netherlands, and fighting out of the blue corner, he has 7 wins against only 1 loss, which he avenged. 5 of those wins come by way of Knockout. Introducing the top ranked contender, Kyle, The Dutch Mafiaaaaaaaaa Kappe!

And fighting out of the red corner, with a record of 8-0, with 4 of those wins coming by way of knockout, hailing from the United State of America, the undefeated, undisputed UHC Heavyweight Champion of the World……….Muhammad Ali!

DING DING!!!

Round 1 starts out slow, as expected with the champ and the young superstar measuring each other up. Ali lands a few jabs early as Kappe is dancing around the ring, trying to calm himself down. Late in the round Kappe lands the first good shots of the fight for him. The champ had the slight advantage in this round, but no real action.

Kappe comes out jabbing and moving, jabbing and moving, but when Ali catches him with a big right he quickly abandons that strategy and starts throwing some hard punches as well. Round is was very even.

Round 3 was even for a while, but Ali suckered Kappe into throwing some wild punches by dropping his gloves. Kappe bit and Ali countered with some sharp jabs to score points and take the round.

Kappe started out round 4 looking great. He landed two consecutive rights that had Ali stumbling backwards. But then Kappe made a rookie mistake by looking back into his corner for advice and Ali pounced on him, and landed about 5 big shots that had Kappe reeling for the ropes. Ali steals another round thanks to his veteran savvy.

Round 5 was short on action, but big on Ali acting like the veteran he is. With the round in doubt, Ali pressed the action late, landed a couple of meaningless jabs for points and took the round.

I don’t know what Kappe’s corner told him in between rounds, but he looked much more confident and performed so in the ring. He landed a few combos and counterpunched with a ton of success and easily took this round from Ali. More importantly, Kappe now knows that he can hurt Ali like he just did. One of those rights landed square on Ali’s eye and it is now puffed up. Kappe just needs to look at Ali’s eye now to know he can win this fight and hurt Ali.

Ali rallied nicely in round 7, landing some big shots and finishing the rounf strong to win it with ease. However, Kappe is smartly concentrating on that eye of Ali and the swelling is noticeably larger. The ref is really keeping an eye on Ali’s eye.

Kappe has a nice round 8 and pulls very close if not even on the cards with Ali. The question is, will Ali’s eye hold up for 4 more rounds? I am not too sure about it.

Early in round 9 Kappe lands a devastating blow to the nose of Ali which causes a stream of blood to flow from Ali’s nose. Kappe finishes the round strong and all the momentum is on his side right now. This fight is way too close to call.

Round 10 was a pretty even round, very tough to score. Both fighters have hit a wall and niether was doing too much in the ring in the 10th.

Round 11 was another dead even round. This final round may very well determine the winner of this fight, that is how close it is. Ali’s eye is a real mess and swollen way out, but with just one rind to go, I think he can get through it. I cannot see the ref stopping it at this point.

Ali is aggressive in the final round, as he is trying to give the judges a final impression of his superiority. In reality the round was also very close, but I would probably give it to Ali. After 12 great rounds of boxing, this fight will be determined by the judges.

Jobu Eckman (0-0) vs. Mark Gastineau (0-0)

Jobu enters the ring in great condition for his first ever professional fight. As for Gastineau, lets face it, you never know what you are going to get in or out of the ring.

Eckman looks sharp n his first professional fight, but of course, consider the competition. Eckman was warned already for using his elbows on Gastineau. This round is easily in favor of Eckman.

In round 2, Eckman is just toying with Mark, like a cat playing with a dead mouse. It looked like he could have put him down a couple of times, but held back a bit just to get more work in.

Finally in round 3, Eckman looks bored and starts landing 5 and 6 punch combinations on Gastineau. Mark motions to the ref and the ref steps in and stops this fight.

Opening Bout

Mike “Blade” Tokunaga vs. Oliver McCall

Blade is a 2-1 favorite over McCall. Both fighters have trained hard and look to be in great shape.

McCall throws Blade off of his game plan early on with an intentional head butt that the ref gives him a warning for. Blade seemed a bit tentative after that and lost the round, absorbing some jabs, but not much damage.

Blade’s corner relaxed him in between rounds and he came out much more confident in round 2. He landed a nice hook, a right cross and an uppercut that all did heavy damage to McCall and had him back pedaling. An easy victory for Blade in this round.

Round 3 was pretty even. Blade started off strong, but got caught by an uppercut from McCall that turned the tide of the round.

In round 4, McCall landed a hard jab to the nose of Blade and Blade hit the canvas for a quick three count. The punch stunned him more than anything, but McCall ended up dominating the round.

Not much action in round 5, but Tokunaga had a nice flurry of action in the final 30 seconds that should have won him the round.

Round 6 was the best round of the fight so far. Both fighters landed a good number of power punches and it took a lot out of both fighters. McCall came out ahead in the exchanges though and midway through this fight, with the knockdown, I would score him as the winner by about 3 or 4 points. Blade has some work to do to get back into this fight.

Tokunaga looks like a beaten man in round 7. He is taking lots of damage, and not throwing many punches of his own. He spent most of his time covering up in this round.

McCall starts taking over this fight in round 8. Blade is doing very little in the way of offense right now. He seems afraid to throw anything because he might get countered.

Blade finally shows up for the fight in round 9, landing some big hooks to the head of McCall and staggering him a few times. Easy victory for Blade in this round, but he is going to need at least a knockdown to have a shot.

Blade continues to put the pressure on McCall in Round 10. He had McCall on the ropes and hanging on for dear life, but could just not put him down. Still, another easy round for Tokunaga.

Round 11 is another victory for Tokunaga, but you can tell he is tiring and the punches he throws do not have as much on them.

Round 12 gives Blade the final 4 rounds of this fight in convincing fashion. At one point the was pretty far behind, but finishing strong could always turn the outcomes of a fight around. We will find out in a minutes…

Roberto Ramirez scores the fight 114-113 for Mike Tokunaga.
Louis Moret scores the fight 114-113 for Oliver McCall.

Preliminary Bout #1

Jobu Eckman vs. Vitali Klitschko

Jobu is a 2-1 favorite over Vitali. Both fighters are in perfect fight shape for this bout.

Eckman came out head hunting in this fight, no surprise there. He landed some devastating rights that almost sent Vitali to the canvas. On the other hand, Vitali landed some very light jabs that looked almost comical against Eckman’s killer right hand.

Vitali had a little more success in round 2, but Eckman is still trying to knock his block off and easily won the round. Vitali’s strategy must be to let Eckman swing himself out of gas and then take over the fight.

Maybe Vitali’s strategy was smart. Eckman whiffed on his first couple of punches and Vitali countered nicely and then dropped a bomb on Eckman that sent him flying into the ropes. Vitali follwed him into the corner and just started laying the lumber. Eckman could do nothing but cover up. After about 45 seconds of pounding by Vitali and no countering by Eckman the ref stepped in and stopped the fight!!!! Chalk up another upset for Vitali Klitschko!

Preliminary Bout #2

David “The American Bear” Yellope vs. Timmy “Thunder” Kings

The books have this as an even fight. Both fighters are in great shape for this one.

In the first 20 seconds of the fight, the ref stops it and warns Yellope for holding and hitting. He resumes the fight and the first round is pretty even, with Yellope maybe gaining a very slight advantage.

Round 2 was a great one. Yellope landed some solid hook shots to the temple of Kings, but when Yellope missed, Kings was right in his face landing combinations. Late in the round Yellope got another warning from the ref for hitting on the break this time.

Yellope lands some big shots early in round three, but once again Yellope gets a warning, this time for a low blow! Kings is clearly affected by that nut shot. I think maybe the ref should start taking points away from the American Bear if this is how he is going to fight. Either way, Kings took a real beating in that round, and barely survived it. I think the ref was ready to step in when the bell rang to end the round.

Kings comes back with a huge 4th round, and he had Yellope covering up and dodging bullets for all three minutes. Kings gets himself back into the fight with a great showing.

Kings continues to dominate Yellope in round 5. David’s legs looked like jelly in this round and I think the bell came just in time, as another punch might have sent him down.

Round 6 was pretty even. Yellope tried to get aggressive towards the end, but once again he was hitting on the break and this time he gets a point taken away. Halfway through the fight, it is dead even.

Round 7 saw the action slow down, but Yellope landed 3 solid power punches that did some damage and won him the round.

Another slow round in the 8th and the crowd is letting the two men hear about it. Give a slight advantage to Kings in this round for pressing the action.

The action picked up only slightly in round 9. Both fighters are obviously very fatigued at this point in the fight. Kings landed a couple nice combinations in this round which probably earned him the round on the cards. We have 3 rounds to go and the fight is dead even.

David looks like he got a second wind in round 10, and looks like he has taken control of the fight. It is now his fight to win in the last 2 rounds.

Yellope looked like he was going to finish this fight up in the 11th round, but Kings just would not go down. Out of frustration maybe, Yellope throws a backhand, the ref clearly sees it and deducts another point from Yellope! That is 2 deduction in what is a very close fight. I am not sure Yellope can afford that and still win.

Both fighters try to give a great last impression to the judges in round 12, but neither got the better of it. This fight goes 12 very good round and now it goes to the cards……

Guillermo Perez scores the fight 114-111 for David Yellope.
Omar Mintun scores the fight 113-112 for Timmy Kings.
Ole Oveson scores it 113-112 for the winner, by split decision………

David “The Assassin” Gonzalez vs. Jace Hunter

The books have this fight at even. Both fighters are in tip top shape for this bout.

If the first round is any indication we are in for great fight. The two men went toe to toe in that round, both delivering big shots that did some damage!

Gonzalez took over in round 2 and had Hunter out on his feet, but could not land the knockdown blow. An easy win for Gonzalez in this round.

Gonzalez was getting the better of Hunter in this round, but he made a rookie mistake. He put his guard down to adjust his belt and Hunter pounced, landed a huge right and sent Gonzalez down to the canvas for a 6 count! That turns this fight around in a big way!

Hunter cannot follow up his great third round in the 4th, but he still comes away as the winner of the round.

Hunter continues to dominate Gonzalez in round 5 and he is starting to take over the fight.

Hunter lets Gonzalez back in the fight by not being aggressive in round 6. Gonzalez sees that this could be his chance to get back in the fight and starts throwing lots of jabs that land. He finally gets the chance to throw a nice uppercut and it lands square, sending Hunter off his feet, through the air and flat out on his back. He does not even more, never mind answer the 10 count. Gonzalez just knocked him out cold with 1 punch!

George Foreman vs. Rocky Marciano

The books have this as an even fight. Both fighters have trained hard and are ready to go.

Big George came out and laid a beating to Rocky for the first two rounds of this fight. There were several times when it looked like it would be an early night for Marciano. He was able to hold on though and in round 3, Rocky came back and delivered a beating of his own to Big George.

Foreman returns to form in round 4 and again has Rocky out on his feet. He lands about 4 huge shots to Rocky’s left eye and it swells up like a balloon.

In round 5 it starts getting really ugly for Rocky. His hands are down and his is exhausted. His eye looks horrendous, and I doubt he can go much longer.

In fact, it doesn’t as soon as the bell sounds for round 6, the ref stops this due to Rocky’s eye. No argument from him. Rocky was just not ready for this fight at all.

The winner by TKO at the 0:03 mark of Round 6 is George Foreman!

Main Event

Joe Frazier vs. Mike Tyson for Frazier’s WBO Heavyweight Title.

The odds are even in this fight. Both fighters are in perfect shape as the bell sounds for round 1.

Through the first two rounds, Frazier is out boxing Tyson, which is no surprise, but Tyson is finding the openings he needs to land his powerful punches, and he is landing them in bunches for a lot of damage.

In round 3, Tyson has Frazier out on his feet, but the bell saves Frazier as he was about to go down. All three rounds are Tyson’s by a wide margin right now.

Frazier looks like a new man in rounds 4, 5 and 6 and he easily took all of them from Tyson. It seems as if Tyson cannot finish a fight early he gets himself into a lot of trouble. Halfway through this title fight, it is too close to call.

I might have spoke too soon because Tyson comes storming back in round 7 and once again has Frazier out on his feet, but somehow, someway, Joe finds a way to remain standing and get out of the round. And a short rest is all Frazier needs because he comes back in round 8 and dominates like Tyson did in round 7. Not only that but he lands a punch square in Tyson’s left eye, causing it to swell up on the spot!

Frazier slowly takes control of this fight in round 9 with a solid win. He is also targeting that eye of Tyson and while it is getting worst, I think it will hold up for 3 more rounds.

Tyson has a better round in the 10th, but you still have to give the slight nod to Frazier in this round. Overall, I would say Frazier is slightly ahead on points, but with 2 rounds to go, Tyson can win this fight easily as well.

Frazier is trying to wrap up the final couple of rounds on the scorecards and he does so successfully in the 11th.

Frazier is all over Tyson in Round 12, but Tyson has one trick left in his bag. He blocks a straight right from Frazier then throws everything he has left at Frazier for the next 20 seconds. Frazier’s legs cannot hold him up and he sinks to the canvas. He tries to answer the 10 count, but his legs won’t allow it! Tyson has come back to knock out Frazier in the 12th round and steal this fight, and Frazier’s title!!!!!

The winner, and NEW WBO Heavyweight Champion of the World, Iron Mike Tyson!

Jason Wood vs. Tommy Morrison

Wood will be making his profession debut today while Morrison is still in search of his first victory. Wood is a 3-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters are in perfect shape for this bout.

Morrison comes out throwing some junk and landing a few shots on Wood, but it doesn’t take long for Wood to find an opening and he lays a viscous hook to the temple of Morrison that sends him sprawling. He thinks about getting up, but then thinks better of it and takes the 10 count! Quite the debut for Jason Wood!

Preliminary Bout #1

Mike “Blade” Tokunaga vs. Timmy “Thunder” Kings.

This fight is at even odds when the books close. Both fighters are in tip top shape for this important fight between the two youngsters.

Blade gets the better of Timmy in round 1, landing some power punches that really hurt Kings. He was shaken up by the quick start of Blade, and I don’t think he expected it.

Kings took some body shots in round 1, so he was covering up the body in round 2. Tokunaga took the opportunity to go to the head and landed a perfect cross on Kings that sent him down for a 6 count in round 2. Tokunaga lets Timmy get out of the round by not applying the pressure.

Tokunaga continues to get the upper hand on Kings in round 3, and is threatening to run away with this fight early on.

Blade landed another solid cross right at the beginning of round 4 that really shook Kings up. Kings spent the rest of the round trying to avoid Blade, but Blade was still able to dish out more punishment in the round.

In round 5, Kings finally settles down and gets back to his gameplan. He out boxes Tokunaga in round 5 and landed some power punches of his own. He takes his first round of the fight here in the fifth.

Kings starts to pour it on in round 6. He had Blade reeling with some huge overhand rights! The only thing keeping Blade up in the final 5 seconds of that round was the ropes, literally. Blade was clinging to them for his life and the ref was about to step in and end it, but the bell saved Blade from a disaster. Now he needs to try and regroup. He has a slight swelling starting on his left eye.

Blade starts out round7 as the aggressor and was having some success with the jab and the cross, but once he missed, Kings jumped on him and dominated the rest of the round, winning it with ease. After 7 rounds now, this fight is dead even, even with the early knockdown by Blade.

Round 8 is more of the same from Kings as he is beating Blade to a pulp out there. Once again the ref was looking very closely at Blade to see if he was able to go. Thankfully for Blade, he does let it continue, but he is barely able to find his corner when the bell rings!

Kings has completely taken over this fight here in the 9th round. He is just destroying Blade out there, but it is a testament to the heart of Tokunaga that he has not gone down yet. His eye is getting worse, but with only 3 rounds to go it should not be a showstopper.

Just as I say that, Round 10 begins and Kings ends this fight in style with a jab that just came out of nowhere and sent Tokunaga sprawling to the canvas for a 10 count! The crowd gives Kings a standing ovation for those impressive last few rounds and the KO!

The winner by KO at the 1:55 mark of Round 10 is Timmy Kings!

Preliminary Bout #2

Jace Hunter vs. Oliver McCall

Jace is a 3-2 favorite over McCall. Both fighters are in great shape for this fight.

The two fighters were just feeling each other out in round 1, and neither fighter really did much, nor gain an advantage.

Round 2 saw some power punching action, with each fighter landing some solid blows. Hunter took more punishment in the exchanges, but scoring wise it was again very even.

Round 3 is going the same as the first two, with neither fighter being able to separate themselves from the other, and the scoring has got to be dead even.

Round 4 was a crazy round. It was even for most of the way, but late in the round Hunter started landing some big punches and McCall was staggering all over the ring. The crowd was so excited they were all on their feet and the noise was incredible. So loud in fact that the ref did not hear the bell sound and allowed Hunter to land two more huge shots after the bell!

McCall looks exhausted now and he comes out in round 5 with his gloves hanging low, but he came out with some fight on him and started to take over the round until Hunter started laying some power punches on him again. In the end, this was a very close round, but the late flurry may have given it to Hunter.

Round 6 shows McCall continuing to find his legs and his power and it was a very even round between the two fighters.

Round 7 sees McCall start to take control of Hunter. Slowly but surely he has been looking better and better and this round was an easy win for McCall. After 7 rounds, I would guess Hunter has an ever so slight lead in this fight.

Round 8 sees McCall again dominating Hunter. It looks like Hunter has run out of steam aftera very nice start to this fight. Another easy win for McCall in this round.

McCall is just going about his business and Hunter is getting frustrated as he drops his third round in a row to McCall.

Time is running out for Hunter and he responds with a solid round 10, winning this one and giving himself a chance in this fight. He may have to win the final 2 rounds to have a chance at getting the decision.

Round 11, is just a huge round for Hunter and he almost had McCall knocked down. He scored a ton of points and picks up another round. It could come down to the final round on the cards.

Hunter did everything he could in the 12th round and in the last 3 rounds as well to get the victory. The only question is if he gave away too many of the middle rounds.

We go to the cards……

Harold Lederman scores this fight 117-112 for Jace Hunter.
Larson Oumgher scores it 115-113 for Oliver McCall.
Jose Cobian scores it 116-113 for the winner, by split decision………

David Gonzalez vs. Lennox Lewis

This fight is even in the books. Both fighters are in perfect shape for this fight.

Neither fighter was very shy at all in round 1. They came out throwing everything they had. Lewis had a late flurry of combinations that gave him the round.

Round 2 was a great one for David, as he landed some power shots that definitely hurt Lewis. Lewis was backpedaling late in the round. Give this one to Gonzalez.

David continues to lay the lumber in round 3, hurting Lewis badly and almost sending him down. Lewis was stumbling around for a minute before he caught he balance and finished the round. Lewis looks tired already from the beating he is taking early on.

Round 4 was almost the end for Lewis but somehow he remained on his feet. The ref thought about stopping it in that round as Lewis is showing very little, if any offense at all. He took some shots to his right eye and that thing has swelled up bad already!

A solid hook early in the 5th sends Lewis down to the canvas for a 6 count! He gets up but Gonzalez punishes him for it, taking a huge 2 point round and putting Lewis in position for a KO victory.

Maybe in a last ditch effort, Lewis comes out swinging and gets a slight advantage over Gonzalez in that round. His eye is getting very bad now though and I doubt he will last much longer.

Early in Round 7, Gonzalez puts the pressure on Lewis and after some sharp jabs to the eye, the ref steps in and ends this fight!

The winner by TKO at the 0:54 mark of Round 7 is David Gonzalez! David is now a very solid 5-3 in his career!

This throws Eckman off his game and Yellope continues to pummel Eckman for the remainder of the round. A decisive victory in round 1 for Yellope and he dealed out a lot of damage as well.

Yellope makes Eckman look like an amateur boxer in round 2. He is landing at will out there. Jabs, crosses and a few nasty hooks that has Eckman covering up, and running for his life. He is luck this fight has not been stopped already and he better regroup in a hurry.

Yellope’s corner works on his eye in between rounds but cannot get the bleeding to stop yet. It looked like Eckman was going to take his first round of the fight, but late in the round Yellope landed two straight jabs, the second buckling Eckman’s legs and making him avoid Yellope for the rest of the round. Call this one even.

David’s eye is still leaking blood as we start the 5th round. Yellope sends Eckman to the canvas in this round with a brutal ribcage shot. Eckman answers to a 6 count. David moves in for the kill and dishes out a ton of punishment to Eckman, but Jobu withstands it and makes it out of the round alive.

The action slows down quite a bit in round 6. The fighters exchange some jabs with Yellope getting the better of Eckman. Yellope also threw a few elbows which he got warned for. Late in the round Yellope lands a low blow that doubles over Eckman. The ref takes a point away from Yellope for the low blow. Because of that, call this round even.

Yellope is the only one landing punches in round 7 and he is totally outclassing Eckman. However, Yellope has a second point taken away from him in this round for intentional head butting. He better start being careful or he will get DQ’d from a fight he is easily winning thus far.

Round 8 is another slow one, but give the nod to Yellope for pushing the action as well as landing more shots in the round. Neither fighter sustained much damage in this round though.

Marmel
03-03-2004, 09:03 PM
Eckman finally has a winning round, even if it is only because Yellope was pretty inactive in the 9th. Eckman did land a clean power punch late in the round which buckled Yellope’s knees, but I am not certain Eckman has the power there anymore.

Round 10 was pretty even with neither fighter pressing too much. With 2 rounds to go I would say Eckman will need at least a knockdown, if not a knockout to win this grudge match.

03-03-2004, 09:06 PM
Early in round 11, Eckman misses with a hook, leaving himself wide open. Yellope takes advantage and pounds three hard shots to the ribs of Eckman which sends him down to the canvas. He answers to a quick 2 count, but now pretty much needs a knockout to win. Late in the round, Yellope lands a viscous cross that drops Eckman for the second time in this round. He answers to a four count and the fight continues. Yellope goes for the kill, but hits low and has a third point taken from him! We head to the 12th and final round!

And now for the Main Event of the Evening. 12 rounds of heavyweight boxing for the IBF Heavyweight title!

The challenger is #3 ranked Kyle “Dutch Mafia” Kappe.

The champion is #5 ranked Gene “The Fighting Marine” Tunney!

Both fighters are in perfect shape and ready to fight for the title.

The first round is dead even as both fighters landed some nice power punches, but these two great fighters can absorb a lot of punishment. Round 2 is in favor of Kappe as he landed a few more shots in another good toe to toe round.

Kappe lands some huge knockout type punches in round 3, but Tunney is a tough customer and just seemed to shrug them off and get back into it. A great round for Tunney, but even better for Kappe.

Each round gets better and better. Tunney scored a ton of point sin this round, but Kappe answered every shot with one of his own. Both fighters are starting to feel the effects of the beating they are taking. This round was dead even.

Tunney has a decent 5th round scoring points with non-damaging jabs most of the way. Kappe responds with power punches that land at will in round 6, sending Tunney backwards and reaching for the ropes. Halfway through this title fight, Kappe has an edge, but not a very large one.

Kappe starts dishing out the punishment in round 7. Everytime Tunney landed, Kappe countered with 2 of his own, landing most of them and taking the round.

Kappe continues his domination in round 8 and is building a comfortable lead on the cards I would think.

More of the same in round 9. Tunney is landing some solid punches every single round, but Kappe is just landing more of them every round. It is getting to the point where Tunney will need a knockout to win. Tunney also has a bad swelling on his left eye after a few powerful jabs by Kappe in this round.

Tunney was about to win round 10, but Kappe had a vert late flurry of lefts and rights in the final 30 seconds that sent Tunney to the canvas for a 2 count. Now Tunney will surely need a KO to win.

He never gets the chance though. Early in round 11, Kappe lands some more jabs to that eye and causes it to bleed. The ref immediately stops this one!

Jobu Eckman vs. Mike Tokunaga

Eckman is a 3-2 favorite in this match. Blade looks to be in perfect shape, but Eckman may have over trained for this fight if the rumors are correct.

Both fighters are in desperate need of a win right now. Jobu comes out looking like he needs it more than Blade, and lands some nice clean shots to take the first round.

Eckman has another huge round, sending Blade into the ropes and then pounding on him as he bounces off them. All Blade can do is cover up and hope for the best. Eckman does throw a low blow and the ref won’t tolerate it a bit as he immediately takes a point away from Jobu.

Blade was maybe playing possum to start round 3. He had his hands down low. Jobu got aggressive and walked into a right hand that rattled his brain. Blade had Jobu on the run for the entire round after that and scored a victory in this round.

Blade again has his hands low to start the 4th. He must be getting tired or something already. Jobu regains control of this fight in round 4 with some devastating rights to the face of Blade.

Blade returns the favor in round 5, landing several big rights of his own as well as a few combinations that left Jobu staggering at the end of the round.

The two fighters must have needed a breathe in round 6 because all they did was clinch and hold for 3 minutes. A very even round because nobody did anything. Halfway through, this fight is about even.

In round 7, Jobu again reasserts himself and goes after Blade full throttle. He pummeled him all round long and right at the end, sent Blade to his knee for a quick 1 count and then the round came to an end. Blade is very frustrated right now.

Round 8 starts off pretty even, but then Jobu gets a point taken away for a head butt. That is his second lsot point of the fight. The damage was done though and Blade was really rattled and his head was hurting bad. Jobu saw the opening and launched everything he had, causing the ref to step in and stop this one here in the 8th.

The winner by TKO at the 2:52 mark of Round 8 is Jobu Eckman!

Jason Wood vs. Vitali Klitschko

Wood is a 2-1 favorite and will look to be the first FOFC fighter to knock off Vitali. Both fighters come to the ring in excellent shape.

Vitali comes out in round 1, brimming with confidence seeing another FOFC fighter across the ring. The confidence comes out in his fighting as he totally whoops Wood in round 1. Wood managed to land a couple weak jabs and that is it. Meanwhile, Vitali was landing heavy rights and combos.

Wood looks much much better in round 2, landing about twice as many punches as Vitali did in that round. An easy win for Wood.

Round 3 was dead even, with both fighters landing huge punches in the waning seconds, leaving each other with something to ponder as round 4 approaches.

In round 4, Wood lands a right that must have felt like a lightning bolt to Vitali as he sunk to the canvas. He did pop right back up after a 4 count though. Wood shows an incredible killer instinct though and moves in for the kill. About a minute later, Wood lands a right cross to the temple of Vitali. Vitali brings his guard up, rocks on his feet and then falls face first into the mat, knocked cold for a 10 count!

The winner by KO at the 2:18 mark of Round 4 is Jason Wood!

Preliminary Bout #2

David Gonzalez vs. Jersey Joe Wolcott

The books have this fight as even. Both fighters are in great shape for this battle.

David comes out looking sharp, until he walks into a Wolcott right hand that is. The round ended up even, but Gonzalez looks a bit shaken by that big right.

David shook it off and came back very strong in round 2, nailing Wolcott with some big rights and some stiff jabs to easily take the round.

Wolcott returns the favor in round 3 and easily takes this round from Gonzalez. Close fight so far, but we are waiting for somebody to take control with a big round.

Round 4 is again dead even, as each fighter landed about the same amount of punches. Nothing too damaging was landed though and both fighters appear to be in fine shape so far.

Finally it is Wolcott who break open this fight in round 5. He landed several hooks in a row that cut David open under his right eye. He had David reaching for the ropes and covering up until the bell rang. Huge round, possibly a 2 point round, for Wolcott.

The taste of his own blood gets Gonzalez fired up and he comes out in the 6th and takes the round from Wolcott with some very smart and effective boxing. Halfway home and this fight is way too close to call.

Round 7 is another very close round, and it could have gone either way. Both fighters dished out some punishment this time around.

Round 8 goes to Wolcott easily as he had Gonzalez backpedaling and covering up for his life. His legs were looking awfully shaky in that round.

David turns the tables on Wolcott in round 9 and lays a beating on him, just like David took in the previous round. This fight is dead even as we head into the final 3 rounds.

Lots of clinching and holding and very little action in round 10 as the fighters try to get a second wind going for the final stretch of this fight. Score it even.

Only a bit more action in this round, but it could have been a big one for Gonzalez as he did score more and took the 11th round.

Round 12 is also dead even, and this one will go to the cards, where it is anyone’s fight.

Rudolpho Maldonado scores the fight 115-114 for David Gonzalez.
Eugenia Williams scores it 115-113 for Jersey Joe Wolcott.

Kings was granted a rematch after complaining about the dirty fighting of Yellope in their first encounter. The stakes are higher as the belt is on the line this time around. The book have this as an even fight. Both fighters are in tip top shape for this one.

Kings tries to make a statement early on in the first round landing some heavy shots to the face of Yellope. The champ shrugs them off though and returns fire, making this an even round.

Not much action in round 2 at all. The fighters are now feeling each other out. Even round of course.

Round 3 is a big one for Yellope as he hurts Kings on several right crosses. As the round ends, Kings looks very frustrated with himself and pretty shaken up as well.

Kings rebounds in round 4, landing some big shots that definitely hurt the champ. Yellope was reeling and backing up most of the round as Kings easily wins this round.

David comes back with a good round 5 and out scores Kings in this round. Not a ton of damage done, but Yellope racked up the points for sure.

David contines to put the pressure on Kings and midway through the round he lands a devastating right that buckles Kings’s knees and he is stumbling every where. Yellope just moves in for the kill like a great fighter is trained too and put his fight away as the ref is forced to stop it!

Kyle Kappe vs. Lennox Lewis for Kappe’s IBF Title.

Kappe is a 2-1 favorite over Lewis. Kappe looks to be in great shape, but Lewis looks rusty like he has not done much sparring during training.

Kappe looks like the champion that he is in round 1, taking it to Lennox and avoiding any damage on his wn end.

It is almost unreal how easy Kappe makes this look in round 2. He is just teeing off on Lewis in this fight and dominating in every aspect. Lewis’s left eye is swollen up already and his lip is split open after just 2 rounds.

Round 3 is more of the same and Lewis just cannot mount any type of offense at all against the Champ.

Lewis finally shows some signs of life in round4, landing a few solid jabs. Kappe has seen enough and charges in, head first, smashing into Lewis and cutting open his right eye! Kappe only gets a warning for this. Lewis still manages to win the round, but his eye is swollen, the other one is bleeding and his lip is bleeding once again. It is just a matter of time it seems.

Lewis looks like a beaten man, and his eye is going to eventually cost him this fight, however the man has heart and he comes out ans takes his second round in a row from Kappe.

Round 5 is dead even, but Lewis was able to split the lip of Kappe in this round and at least will leave here knowing he drew blood. His eye looks like it is ready to explode though.

Kappe apparently didn’t like being cut open because he tried to end the fight in the 7th round. Lewis stayed on his feet, but took a real bad beating.

Kappe knocks down Lewis in round 8. Lewis gets up at the count of 8, but the ref calls the doctor over and he ends this fight! Kappe defends his title!

The winner by TKO at the 0:43 mark of Round 8 is Kyle “Dutch Mafia” Kappe!

And now for the Main Event of the evening. 12 rounds of Heavyweight boxing for the most prestige title in boxing, the UHC Heavyweight Title of the world.

Fighting out of the red corner, the challenger. He has a record of 9 wins to 4 losses, with 7 of those wins coming by way of knockout. He is the top ranked boxer in the world right now and will be trying to win the title that goes along with it. Let’s get it up for Smokin’ Joe Frazier!

And fighting out of the blue corner, from the US of A. He has a professional record of 9 wins without a single loss. 4 of those wins have come by way of knockout. He is the undefeated, undisputed UHC Heavyweight Champion of the World. He is Muhammad Ali!

The odds are dead even on this fight and both fighters look to be in perfect shape as the bell for round 1 sounds……..

The first couple of minutes see the fighters circling and feeling each other out, and then all of a sudden they both go after one another trading blows at center ring. When the bell sounds the crowd is in a frenzy already and it appears Frazier may have gotten the better of the Champ there.

A very slow round sees just a few jabs exchanged, and nothing more. Give the round to Ali.

Round 3 was an all time classic. Frazier starts off strong landing some stiff rights, but Ali counters with a hook that cuts Frazier open over his right eye. The blood is flowing freely out of that cut. Frazier regroups and throws a hook of his own that slices Ali open over his left eye! Both fighters are already dripping blood after 3 rounds! Give the round to Ali for inflicting a bit more damage. Also, Frazier’s cut eye has started to swell up.

Ali’s corner closes that cut right up, but Frazier’s is still bleeding as round 4 begins. The cut doesn’t seem to bother him as he easily takes this round from the champ by out boxing him!

Ali regains control in the 5th with a winging right that shakes Frazier up badly. An easy round for Ali. Frazier’s corner has got that cut closed and the swelling on his eye has gone down.

A huge round in the 6th for Frazier as another sweeping hook cuts Ali open under that same left eye! Score the round for Frazier big time, and halfway through, there is no clear cut leader. Both men look battered and bruised.

Round 7 almost saw the end of Ali’s title reign as he was running for cover under a barrage of huge blows from Frazier. Frazier had Ali in the corner and was going to work on him. If this was not a title fight, the ref would have surely stopped it right there! Ali’s left eye is now cut over and below, although his corner has gotten them closed up, however the swelling in that eye is really brutal right now and they better work on that if he wants to last the 12 rounds.

In round 8, Ali must sense things slipping away because he absolutely dominated Frazier in this round, winning it with ease. However, one of the few shots that Frazier did manage to land cut Ali open under his other eye and that is bleeding profusely right now. Both corners are doing a tremendous job getting the swellings to a minimum.

Both men dished out massive punishment and pain in round 9, but Frazier got the better of the Champ in the exchange. This sets up an amazing finish were the two fighters could very well be tied on the cards heading into the championship rounds, as they call them.

In round 10, both men were taking it easy and trying to prepare for what should be a great finish. Ali used his ring smarts and got aggressive towards the end, probably stealing the round on the cards.

In round 11, ali comes out and it looks like he doesn’t want this to go to the cards. He throws everything he has at Frazier, but somehow Frazier is able to withstand it all and stay on his feet. At the end of the round, Ali has Frazier trapped in the corner and is landing right after right. Frazier just needs to stay up for 10 more seconds to get out of the round, but suddenly the ref is pulling Ali away and waving his arms! Oh man, with just 8 seconds left in Round 11, the ref is stopping it. Frazier is going absolutely crazy as his corner is holding him back. Ali is prancing around the ring while Frazier’s corner is starting a riot in the middle of the ring! Unbelievable finish.

The winner by TKO at the 2:52 mark of Round 11 and STILL UHC Heavyweight Champion of the World, Muhammad Ali!!!!!

Post-fight, the judges scorecards at the time of the stoppage were as follows:

Joe Cortez had it scored 95-95.
Larry Rozadilla had it scored 95-95.
Beat Haussmann had it scored 96-64 for Joe Frazier!

Note: When I schedule fights, I pick a fighter who I want to work. Normally, I will pick an opponent ranked very close to him. I never let that guy fight anyone more than 3-5 spots ahead of him in the rankings, but I will let them fight anybody below them in the rankings. The exceptions are tourney winners, and FOFCers challenging others. Yellope has a huge target on his back. :)

Opening Bout

Neuq Amrev vs. Eric Esch

Neuq is a 4-1 favorite in his professional debut. Both fighters look to be in great shape as this fight card kicks off.

Round 1 was a great debut for Amrev. He looked like a seasoned pro against the over matched Esch. He had Esch covering up and holding on for his life already.

But round 2 was a different story. Esch went for his world famous knockout and had Neuq stumbling around the ring, trying to hold him off. When Neuq did counter, he landed and it looks like he may have broken Esch’s nose. Esch is already exhausted after 2 rounds and is carrying his gloves low.

In round 3, Neuq made a mockery of Esch, knocking him down twice, once for a long 9 count and also cutting him open over his left eye. Esch should just throw in the towel at this point.

Neuq sends Esch down again in round 4, but Esch is dumb enough to get back up after a 6 count. The ref steps in after 1 or two more hits and stops this thing finally.

The winner by TKO at the 1:07 mark of Round 4 is Neuq Amrev!

Preliminary Bout #1

Pete Rodriguez vs. Tommy Morrison

Pete is a 2-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters have trained hard and look to be in great shape.

Both fighters were just getting a sense of the other in round 1, Pete landed a few nice solid jabs, but nothing damaging. It was enough to win his first round as a fighter.

The same goes for round 2, as Pete is not opening any eyes in the audience, but he is quietly going about his work as he wins another round.

Pete is starting to open i8t up in round 3, as he was throwing his right much more often and throwing some nice combos. Everything is landing cleanly and he is stretching out his lead now.

Morrison starts coming around in round 4, landing some big shots that stagger Rodriguez. Give this round, his first, to Morrison.

Morrison again gets the upper hand on Rodriguez in the opening moments of round 5, but then he gets hammered by a rib shot from Rodriguez and drops to the canvas for a 6 count! Easily a 2 point round from Rodriguez and now Morrison looks exhausted.

Round 6 is more domination from Rodriguez and he puts Morrison down to the canvas for a short count as the bell rings to end this round. Another 2 point round for Pete.

Rodriguez backed off in round 7 and Morrison stole this round away, but is still hopelessly behind. You would think Rodriguez will be trying to finish this fight off.

Round 8 is an easy win for Rodriguez. He seems to be lacking a killer instinct in this fight though. It should have been over a while ago.

Another huge round for Rodriguez in the 9th as he put Morrison down for a 3 count. Morrison got back up though and Rodriguez pounded on him for 2 more minutes. After the bell Pete was screaming at the ref about stopping this fight. He seems frustrated he cannot put Tommy away for good.

Round 10 is another easy win for Pete, but you got to wonder why he is letting Morrison hang around.

Finally, in round 11, a series of punches to the head drops Morrison to the canvas and he is down for good this time.

The winner, by KO at the 1:28 mark of Round 11 is Pete Rodriguez!

Preliminary Fight #2

Ignacio Catalan vs. Lou Savarese

Catalan is a 3-1 favorite in his professional debut! Both fighters are in perfect condition for this one.

A solid round for the new fighter, Catalan. He was able to land some nice rights and a crushing hook to win the round. He better cover up a bit better though because he did sustain some pain at the hands of Savarese early on.

Catalan puts Savarese on the mat for a 3 count in round 2. He goes for the kill and lands some good shots, but nothing really clean that would put Lou down again.

Catalan continues to dominate the fight in the third and in this round he cut Savarese open over his right eye, causing the blood to flow freely.

Catalan again is leaving himself too open and receiving some clean punches from Savarese. Still Ignacio still wins the round.

Savarese continues to find the opening in Catalan’s defense and lands some nice shots. Catalan throws a huge jab that cuts Savarese open over his other eye. The doctor takes a look at it and says that Savarese cannot continues. He stops this fight.

The winner by TKO at the 2:00 mark of Round 5 is Ignacio Catalan!

Jason Wood vs. David Gonzalez

Wood is a 3-2 favorite and will look to keep his perfect record intact against the solid Gonzalez. David has been fighting well as of late and a victory here would move him up the standings very nicely. Both fighters are in tip top shape for this one.

For a slow round, Gonzalez really landed some huge rights. There were not many punches thrown, but Gonzalez threw some wicked crosses and hooks that landed clean and really has Wood shaken up early on.

Round 2 sees a lot of clinching and holding, but later in the round Gonzalez is once again able to find opening for his powerful right hand, scoring nicely with some 3 point punches. Another easy win for David in round 2.

Wood finally finds his groove in round 3, buckling Gonzalez’s knees and sending him into the ropes. David is smart enough to cover up and survive the round, but Wood takes this one in dominating fashion. One of those rights has started a swelling on David’s left eye.

David was getting the better of wood in this 4th round, but later on Wood landed a devastating hook and then a cross, both 3 point punches and he steals this round from the more active Gonzalez.

Gonzalez gets the better of Wood in round 5 again and this time he doesn’t let Wood sneak in any shots at the end.

Round 6 was dead even, but Wood was targeting Gonzalez’s eye and landed a good shot that cut it open. That is not going to help keep the swelling down at all. Halfway through the fight, it is dead even, but Gonzalez looks pretty beat up while Wood is in fine shape.

Wood senses Gonzalez is hanging on and comes out firing in round 7. He is landing at will and Gonzalez is forced to cover up. Late in the round Wood gets David trapped in a corner and just goes to work on him. David stops returning fire and the ref has no choice but to stop this even though the bell was about to ring. David can complain all he wants about stopping the fight with just 3 seconds left in a round, but the truth is, he was not going to last much longer today. Better to save yourself for another day.

The winner by TKO at the 2:57 mark of Round 7 is Jason Wood!

Co-Feature

Mike Tyson vs. Jersey Joe Wolcott for Tyson’s WBO title.

Tyson is a 3-2 favorite in this fight. Both fighters are in great shape as this fight begins….

Tyson came out looking for a first round knockout and nearly got it as Wolcott was holding onto the ropes for dear life. I think the ref was about to step in when the bell sounded. Wolcott regroups and fought Tyson even in round 2 and then took round 3.

Tyson took total control of this fight over the next 2 rounds, both times it looked like Jersey Joe was going down, but somehow he managed to stumbled around the ring and stay on his feet. He is being totally outclassed right now.

Round 6 was pretty slow action wise, as maybe Tyson is just catching a breather after working so hard in the 4th and 5th. Wolcott was probably able to steal this round with some jab work.

This fight takes an interesting turn in round 7. Tyson was continuing to deal out the pain, but Joe landed a sharp jab that just buckled Tyson’s knees and when one of the touched the canvas, the ref called it a knockdown!

Tyson responds with a nice round 8, taking that one on the judge’s cards.

Wolcott responds with a nice round of his own in the 9th to take it. Now with 3 rounds remaining and the knockdown that Wolcott scored, I think this fight is up for grabs for whoever shows the judges what they have left in the final 3 rounds!

Tyson has the much better round 10. He landed several combinations that had Joe covering up and rarely returning fire. Tyson notches a win in the 10th round.

In round 11, Tyson threw a wild right hand, and it looked like Joe was trying to dodge it but instead he walked right into it and dropped like a rock. He had trouble getting up but made it at the count of 9. Tyson moved right in and dropped him again, this time for an 8 count. Joe got up again, but Tyson finished him off with the third knockdown of the round!

The winner by TKO at the 2:31 mark of Round 11 and STILL WBO Heavyweight Champion of the World, Iron Mike Tyson!

The Main Event

Joe Frazier vs. Larry Holmes.

The odds are even on this fight. The winner will face Ali on the next card. The loser gets a shot at Kappe’s title. Holmes looks to be in perfect shape. Frazier may have over trained for this one.

Holmes comes out and stuns the crowd by landing a shot to Frazier’s rib cage that drops him in the first minute of round 1! It took 5 seconds before Frazier was able to get up and continue. Holmes scores a 2 point round in the first of this fight!

Frazier came back strong in round 2 after the knockdown, but Holmes still took this round with a great flurry of combinations late in the round.

Holmes continues to dominate this fight in the third round. Frazier just doesn’t know what to do out there.

We finally see the real Frazier in round 4. He gave Holmes all he could handle in that round and it was amazing that Holmes didn’t hit the deck. He got absolutely pummeled in this round.

Holmes recovers from his first bad round and works the body of Frazier over in the 5th to get another round under his belt.

Holmes continues to dominate in the 6th round and halfway through this fight it is Holmes by a landslide on the cards I am sure.

Rounds 7 and 8 were both pretty even, which is a victory in itself for Frazier who has been getting trounced up to this point.

Rounds 9 and 10 were both pretty even, but Holmes had another of his late round flurries in the 10th which probably gave him that round. With only 2 to go, Frazier will need a knockout to win this fight, and Holmes doesn’t appear to be the least bit tired or susceptible to a knockdown.

Just as I say that, Frazier comes out in round 11 desperate to make something happen, and it turns out just a stiff left jab to the head is what sends Holmes down for the first time in this fight! Holmes responds to a 4 count and the round continues. This was a 2 point round for Frazier.

The 12th and final round was another victory for Frazier, but even with the strong finish, I think he was way too far behind to win this. Lets go to the cards and find out.

John Wright scores this fight 115-113 for Larry Holmes.
Jeffrey Belton scores it 114-114, a draw.
Mickey Vann scores it 115-113 for Joe Frazier.

This fight has been declared a draw!!

Wow. Those last two rounds must have made quite an impression on the judges. Our ringside announcers had Holmes winning by at least 3 points at the end of this one. Controversial decision to be sure!

Here is a look at the title picture in the world of boxing.

The UHC Title is the most prestigious in the world of boxing and that will never change. Ali was the first winner of the belt and has never dropped it. Ali is contracted to fight Wood for the title on the next card. There is a clause that guarantees Ali a rematch no later than Wood’s third title defense should he win.

Davis Yellope has the FOFC title, which is the least prestigious of the 4 titles. In this world of boxing, you cannot compete for a second belt, but must vacate the one you have if you want to move up and challnege a fighter for a better belt. Yellope has the option to keep the FOFC belt and defend it against the likes of Eckman, Gonzalez or Kings. Or he can vacate the belt and challenge Tyson for the WBO or Kappe for the IBF.

The WBO and IBF titles seemed to swing back and forth in prestige. At one time the WBO was the more prestigious of the two, but now it is the IBF.

Eckman is ranked 5th and gets whatever is left over after the UHC fight and Yellope’s decision. Eckman can challenge Yellope if he keeps it, or he can challenge Kappe or Tyson for their respective belts. But again, Yellope has first shot at either of those guy if he so chooses.

Tunney, Holmes and Frazier, among others wait in the wings for some kind of title shot in the near future.

Further, there is rumors that a new organization, called the WBC will be forming. This will be a boxing organization that will not allow any fighters ranked 15 or high to compete for its title. If a boxer holds the title and rises to the top 10 in the world, he must immediatly vacate it and it falls to the lower ranked boxers once again.

No word on when this title will be up for grabs.

I'll keep the FOFC title for now.. it looks good on my mantlepiece.

What, Eckman AGAIN??? :)

Marmel
03-04-2004, 05:45 PM
So, Yellope is scared to move up in class as far as titles. That leaves the floor wide open for Eckman to challenge any of the three title holders:

Kappe: IBF
Yellope: FOFC
Tyson: WBO

Or, if he chooses to do so, he can wait for the UHC fight to conclude and try to work out a contract to fight for the ultimate prize. :)

Opening Bout

Pete Rodriguez vs. Neuq Amrev

Pete is a 3-2 favorite in this fight. Both fighters are in perfect shape for this bout.

Not much action from Amrev in round 1, unless you call taking about 5 solid rights to the face action. Pete jumped out fast and easily takes round 1.

This is getting awfully ugly in a hurry, as Neuq is not mounting any sort of offense at all. He is also not putting up much defense.

Finally, in round 3, Neuq starts throwing some punches. Nice of him to show up to this fight. Pete landed just as many though and we’ll call this round even.

Neuq is finally showing some real signs of life early in round 4. He was sneaking in some damaging rights and winning this round. But Rodriguez came back later in the round and landed 3 straight rights right in a row to the face of Amrev. Those punches busted open his left eye and the ref halted the fight for the doctor to take a look. The doctor didn’t hesitate to stop the fight and recommended Neuq get the hospital and have that eye sewn up immediately.

The winner by TKO at the 2:19 mark of Round 4 is Pete Rodriguez!

Preliminary Bout #1

Mike Yokunaga vs. Corrie Sanders

Mike is a 3-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters are in perfect fighting shape as the bell sounds to begin this bout.

In the first minute of the fight, the two guys threw some soft jabs to feel each other out. After that Mike must have noticed something about Sander’s defense early on because he landed a hard 4 punch combination and then followed it up with a massive hook that caught Sanders flush and knocked him out cold for a ten count. Minutes later, after the official announcement, Sanders was still down and not moving much. Let’s hope he is alright!

The winner by KO at the 1:41 mark of Round 1 is Mike Tokunaga!

Preliminary Bout #2

Kyle Kappe vs. Floyd Patterson for Kappe’s IBF heavyweight strap.

Normally, Kappe would not be in a preliminary bout, but this card is loaded up tonight. Kappe is a 2-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters are in excellent shape.

Patterson was reaching for the ropes early in this fight. Kappe did not land many shots, but the ones that he did really hurt Floyd and he is going to have to regroup already.

Kappe came out in round 2 sensing that Patterson was hurt already and he attacked. He landed everything but the kitchen sink in this round and the ref had no choice but to stop this one early. We are rapidly progressing through the fights tonight at the Garden as every one has been a mismatch so far!

The winner by TKO at the 2:12 mark of Round 2 is Kyle “Dutch Mafia” Kappe!

Support Bout

David “The American Bear” Yellope vs. David “The Assassin” Gonzalez for Yellope’s coveted FOFC Title.

Yellope is a 3-2 favorite in this fight. Both fighters look to be in great shape.

Yellope opened the fight with a solid left-right-left combination that staggered Gonzalez early on. Gonzalez did fight back in the round though, but we’ll still give it to the Champ.

Round 2 is another win for Yellope as he just landed many more shots. Nobody has really thrown many heavy punches yet, but Gonzalez is taking the worst of the punishment so far.

Gonzalez starts taking the fight to Yellope in round 3, staggering the champ a bit. I am not sure if Yellope expected so much from Gonzalez after what he showed in the first two rounds, but Gonzalez landed a hook with so much power that the Champ‘s left eye immediately swelled up. An easy win for Gonzalez in this round, and he has the champ in trouble.

Yellope looked a little desperate in round 4, throwing some wild punches. Gonzalez withstood the assault and countered with some brilliant shots of his own. The round was extremely close, but Gonzalez just might have taken it.

Round 5 is another close one, but Gonzalez is finishing these rounds off strong, which might be winning them for him. In this round, he landed a hard shot off the top of Yellope’s head which sent him staggering to his corner a few seconds early. Yellope’s corner is doing a pretty good job keeping that swelling down, but he better protect the eye during the fight a little better.

The action slowed down in round 6, but Yellope was able to land a few shots which would have won him this round in my book. Halfway through the fight, I would say the champ has a slight advantage, although based on looks alone, he is losing because of the eye.

Lots of combination punches from Gonzalez in round 7. Yellope landed a crushing uppercut that did the most damage of the round, but Gonzalez out scored Yellope in the 7th.

Yellope looked like the champ in round 8. He landed jabs and rights, combinations and 1 hook in particular that rattled Gonzalez. He was also blocking just about everything Gonzalez threw and countering with nice shots of his own. A big round for Yellope. He may have set up Gonzalez for a knockdown now.

In round 9, it was Gonzalez’s turn to look the part of a champion. He turned the tables on Yellope and gave him as much punishment as he received in the last round. As we head to the final 3 rounds, Yellope still has a very small advantage on my card. Give his corner great credit for keeping that swelling to a minimum as well.

In round 10, Yellope took control of the fight with a right hand to the gut of Gonzalez that just crumpled him! Gonzalez had a lot of trouble answering the count, but made it up as the ref hit 9. As Yellope moves in the for the kill, Gonzalez plays it smart and grabs him every chance he got. This frustrated Yellope and he got warned for hitting on the break. Big round for the champ nonetheless.

Yellope came out in the 11th and seemed content to let this go to the cards where he feels he is comfortably ahead. Gonzalez seemed like he was still trying to regroup from the last round and maybe saving everything he has for a shot at the knockout in the 12th round. Give the 11th to Yellope.

Oh my, the 12th starts out with a bang! We knew Yellope was a dirty fighter, but this was just cheap! As the fighters came out to touch gloves to start the 12th, Yellope faked the touch and leveled Gonzalez with a right that sent him down for a 8 count! Gonzalez never recovered from that cheap shot, but he did survive the whole 12 rounds. Let’s go to the cards.

Daniel Fucs scores the fight 117-108.
Kim Dai-Won scores it 115-110.
Arno Pokrandt scores it 115-110 for the winner and STILL FOFC Heavyweight Champion of the World, David “The American Bear” Yeeeeeeeeeeeellope!

The crowd gives him a huge round of Boos and start throwing garbage at him as he leaves the ring. Gonzalez is left with a loss and a real cheap shot to ponder.

Co-Feature

Jobu Eckman vs. Mike Tyson for Tyson’s WBO Heavyweight Title.

The odds are exactly even for this fight. Eckman appears to be in good shape, but reports say that Tyson trained so hard, he might have overdone it and left the fight in the gym. We’ll find out soon as round 1 is about to begin.

Right off the bat, Tyson is warned for hitting on the break and Eckman is warned for head butting. Between all that extra activity we saw both fighters go head hunting and land some nice shots. A very slight edge would have to go to Eckman in round 1.

Again, at the start of round 2, Tyson is caught holding and hitting and the ref does not hesitate to take a point away from Tyson. More head hunting in round 2. You wouldn’t think either of these guys know what a body punch is. I guess they both want to prove they are the better knockout puncher. Eckman again gets the upper hand in the round.

Round 3 is another close round, as both fighters are landing some good shots to the others head. Both are absorbing the blows very well and fighting back hard. Eckman is still gaining an advantage in every round and has probably taken all three of them.

Eckman comes out in round 4 and finally throws a body shot. It must have surprised Tyson so much because he doubled over and hit the canvas for a 6 count! You know Eckman is going to go for the kill and he lands a series of shots upstairs and downstairs that sends Tyson to the canvas for the second time in the round. Tyson answers to a 7 count this time. Eckman continues his assault as soon as Tyson get up and he immediately knocks him down for the third time in this round. That is all she wrote!

Wood has worked his whole life for this opportunity and he comes out in round 1 full of adrenaline, rocking the Champ back on his heels with a series of combinations that all land cleanly. He then throws a straight right into the mouth of Ali and splits his lip open! Blood is running down the chin of the champ in round 1. Ali has come to expect this from his opponents though and weathers the storm and starts to mount a comeback of his own. The first round ends and Wood takes it with ease.

Wood comes out in round 2, the same way he did in round 1, but this time Ali expects it and just crushes Wood with a right that buckles his knees and sends him down! He gets right back up at a 4 count, but how quickly things can turn! Ali’s killer instinct kicks in and he backs Wood into the corner. He is raining blows on him with the left and the right. Wood can do nothing but cover up. He is not fighting back at all! Ali continues to blast away at the head of Wood. The only thing holding him up is the corner ropes. He looks like he is out! The ref has to pull Ali away from his opponent! This fight is in the books!!!!!!!!!!

The winner by TKO and STILL undefeated, undisputed UHC Heavyweight Champion of the World is Muhammad ALI!!!!!

Opening Bout:

Ignacio Catalan vs. Andrew Golota

Catalan is a 2-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters look to be in good shape and ready to go.

Round 1 was fairly even. Catalan landed more punches, but Golota landed a few big scoring hooks to the head of Catalan.

Catalan had maybe the best round of his fighting career in the second. It seemed everything he threw was landing clean. He really hurt Golota in that round, and if he just pressed the action a little more I think he would have ended it. On right in particular send Golota to the ropes, and clinging to them to stay up. Golota leaves the round with a swollen left eye.

Round 3 sees Catalan chasing Golota around the ring and landing all of his punches at will. He is really doing a bang up job on Golota and late in the round the ref has decided that Golota has seen enough!

The winner by TKO at the 2:55 mark of Round 3 Igancio Catalan!

Preliminary Bout #1: Joe Louis vs. Larry Holmes

Louis is a 3-2 favorite in this fight. I don’t know how this potential classic fight slipped to a preliminary bout, but here it is. Both fighters are in great shape and ready to battle.

Lots of action in the first three rounds of this fight. Each man is able to land some very clean shots that are doing damage to their opponent, however neither fighters has distanced themselves in terms of scoring. A very even first three round, with plenty of hard hitting action.

Round 4 was a real strange one. Holmes was overwhelming Louis in the round, giving him the beating of a lifetime. The ref was just about to step in and save Louis from further punishment when Louis threw a devastating right hand that dropped Holmes to the canvas! He answered to a 5 count and the bell rand to end this wild round. Does the knockdown give Louis the round even though he was dominated? I don’t know. I do know that Louis has a nice swelling on his right eye to show for all the pain he took.

Louis comes out and has a strong 5th round after handing out the knockdown in round 4. But Holmes returns the favor in the 6th round by sending Louis to the canvas for a quick 3 count. Halfway through this fight it is pretty close. Maybe Holmes has a little advantage, but I am not sure. Louis’ corner is doing a decent job on his eye, but the swelling does look a bit worse.

Louis starts taking control of the fight in round 7, and by the end of round 8, he is dominating Holmes who has seemed to slow down quite a bit. Louis is easily racking up the points right now and has caused a slight swelling on Holmes’ left eye.

Early in round 9, Louis sends Holmes to the canvas with a straight right punch. Holmes answers to a 5 count, but he does not look good at all right now. Louis moves in for the kill, but Holmes does a pretty good job recovering and keeping him at bay. With 3 rounds to go, Louis has opened up a nice lead on the cards.

Things really slow down in the 10th, but give the round to Holmes for at least trying.

Round 11 also has very little action. Both fighters are either out of gas, or saving up for round 12. Call the 11th even.

It appears Holmes was out of gas, but Louis was just saving up to put on an impressive round 12 which should just lock up the judges decision.

Pat Russell scores the bout 117-109.
Frederico Vollmer scores it 117-110.
Angelo Poletti scores it 116-111.

The winner, by unanimous decision, Smokin’ Joe Louis!

Preliminary Bout #2

David Gonzalez vs. Mike Tokunaga

Tokunaga is a 3-2 favorite, but both of these fighters are inconsistent so far and both could use a big victory here today. Gonzalez appears a little soft around the middle for this fight. On Tokunaga’s side there have been reports of in house fighting with his manager the last few months that may affect his performance.

Round 1 was fairly even until Gonzalez turned on the heat in the last 30 seconds, landing some big blows that gave him the round.

Round 2 was a carbon copy of round 1, with both fighters getting their share of work in, but Gonzalez finishing strong and taking the round.

In the third, both fighters looked pretty good, but Gonzalez just appears to be a bit more affective and he has probably taken all three rounds now.

In round 4, Tokunaga lands a low blow and the ref deducts a point from him for it. He easily won the round otherwise, but it will probably be scored even because of the point.

Gonzalez recovers quickly and overwhelms Tokunaga in round 5, in the process opening up a deep cut under Tokunaga’s left eye. Man, does it look bad and he is losing a lot of blood. That round took a lot out of Tokunaga and he comes into round 6 with his hands held low.

As tired as he was, Tokunaga finally has a good round where he would be considered the winner of the round on the cards. Can he be finding that second wind he needs? Halfway through the fight, Gonzalez still has a decent lead though.

Gonzalez regains control of the fight in round 7 with some very nice jab work that kept Tokunaga at bay for the three minutes.

Tokunaga comes back strong in round 8, hurting Gonzalez with some stiff rights and a few nice combinations. He keeps himself in this one with a nice victory in the round.

Tokunaga continues to apply the pressure in round 9, landing shot after shot and swinging the momentum in his favor. But midway through the round he leads with the head and that costs him another point for head butting. This would have been another round for Tokunaga, but now we have to call it even. Tokunaga has given away 2 rounds so far.

Tokunaga continues to work over Gonzalez in the 10th, but then Gonzalez somehow lands a straight right which sends Tokunaga down for a 4 count! Gonzalez may have just wrapped this fight up.

Round 11 was just a boring round. Tokunaga appears to be out of it after the knockdown. Give the round to Gonzalez for at least pressing what little action there was.

In round 12, Tokunaga needs a knockout to win the fight, but you would have thought Gonzalez did by the way he came after Tokunaga. He almost knocked him down on several occasions, but Tokunaga stumbled around and survived the full 12 rounds.

Rocardo Bays scored the fight 115-111.
Bob Flamme scored it 114-111.
Doug Tucker scored it 117-108.

Timmy Kings vs. Jace Hunter for the vacant FOFC Heavyweight Title!

Kings is a 2-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters are in perfect shape for a shot at the title.

Both fighters landed about the same number of punches in round 1, but while Hunter was landing jabs, Kings was landing high scoring power shots and he takes the first round.

Hunter starting throwin gthe big rights in round 2 and landing some of them, but Kings kept up his assault from the first round and out scored Hunter in the second round as well.

Kings tightened up his defense in round 3, and Hunter had trouble landing anything clean. Kings, meanwhile, is continuing having success by going upstairs and down, and landing a high percentage.

Hunter has not done much to change the direction of this fight, and Kings has now probably taken all of the first 4 rounds.

Hunter looks like a new fighter in round 5 though. Maybe it just took him a bit to warm up because he made up for some lost rounds by landing a lot of punches and had Kings reeling and backpedaling for the entire 3 minutes!

The momentum for Hunter carries over into round 6, and he easily wins this one as well. Halfway through, I give Kings 4 rounds to just 2 for Hunter.

Hunter continues to take the fight to Kings in round 7, and he is quickly making up ground in this fight.

Hunter started round 8 as he has fought the last 3 rounds, but finally Kings comes back to life midway through the round with some fancy counter punching. Call this round dead even.

Kings continues the momentum he got going in the last round and dominated this round like he did in the earlier round of the fight. He is trying to stretch out his lead again now as we head into the final 3 rounds of the fight.

More Timmy Kings in round 10, at least for the first 2 minutes of the round. Hunter came back strong in the final minute, but I don’t know if it was enough to win the round.

Not much action in round 11 as both fighters try to rest up for what should be a good final round. Give Hunter the edge for landing a few more shots.

Hunter needed to have a good round 12 to have a shot on the cards, but Kings tried to avoid him and did a pretty good job of slowing down the action and limiting Hunter’s chances. We have to go to the cards for the final decision.

Esa Lehtossari scores the fight 117-111.

Kyle Kappe vs. Neuq Amrev for Kappe’s IBF Heavyweight strap.

Kappe is a 2-1 favorite in this fight. Both fighters are in perfect condition and ready to battle.

Kappe looks like the champ and Neuq looks like the chump in round 1. Kappe did a great job banging rights to Neuq’s face and causing an almost immediate swelling of his right eye.

Amrev has a very solid round 2, controlling the action and landing way more punches while doidn some decent damage to the champ.

Kappe starts out boxing Amrev in the 3rd round, which seemed to frustrate Neuq, so he just started unloading rights in the face of Kappe, scoring big points and stealing the round! Can we be seeing an upset in the making here?

Kappe rebounds with a very solid 4th round. He kept Neuq at bay and snunk in some clean punches where he could.

Kappe again wins round 5, but he is not dominating like a champion should so far. Neuq is hanging around and the rounds he is losing, are not by much. Kappe should not be taking the chance that the judges are giving any of these rounds to Neuq. And for the record, Neuq’s corner is doing an amazing job keeping the swelling to a bare minimum so far.

Kappe looked much, much better in round 6, dominating like we expected him to dominate most of the rounds. Halfway through the fight, Kappe has a decent lead, but I doubt he is comfortable with it.

Between the last round and this 7th round, Kappe is now starting to take over and dominate Neuq. A very solid victory for Kappe in this round.

Round 8 is another easy win for Kappe, but to Neuq’s credit he is hanging in there and not giving Kappe a chance to finish him off.

Same old story in round 9. Neuq is landing some shots, but Kappe is just outclassing him and landing more, racking up round after round after round right now.

Kappe tried to finish Neuq off in round 10, landing a rib shot that crumbled Neuq like 5 day old stale bread. Neuq barely got up at the count of 8, but as soon as he did, Kappe attacked and the ref had to stop this fight.

The winner by TKO and STILL IBF Heavyweight Champion of the World, Kyle “Dutch Mafia” Kappe!

Both fighters come out pretty cautious in round 1. Yellope might have learned something from the beating that Frazier took by coming out fast against Ali. The two fighters pick their spots carefully and it is Yellope who is a bit more successful and takes round 1.

Ali lands a hard uppercut early in round 2 which slowed Yellope down for the rest of the round. Ali was careful though and picked his spots, earning the victory in round 2.

Yellope continues to fight a very smart fight in round 3. He is overly cautious and picking his spots wisely, and usually landing when he does throw. His defense is fine and he is counter punching affectively as well. He easily takes round 3 from the champ, although neither fighter has inflicted much damage.

Round 4 sees some of the first few real damaging punches throw and landed, and most of them came from the challenger, Yellope. He continues to fight very smart. He had Ali backed up into the ropes and landed a great 4 punch combination that had Ali covering up and moving out of the way!

Yellope continues to rack up points against Ali, but with 30 seconds left in round 5, Ali strikes like a Cobra with an uppercut to Yellope’s chin that sends him down on his ass, literally. Yellope is sittin gon the canvas, looking like he is in a daze. I doubt he even know what hit him. Yellope does get to his feet at a count of 8 and makes it out of the round.

Yellope lands a big hook and then a three punch combo at the start of round 6 that clearly shook up the Champ. Yellope sensed this and moved in for the kill, landing some heavy rights and some hard jabs in the process. A huge victory for Yellope in round 6!

Halfway through the fight, even with being knocked down, I have to give the advantage to Yellope by 2 or even three points right now!

Oops.

That's Frazier, huh? I told you I was not a boxing pro in the first post of this dynasty.

How embarrassing. :)

Ali comes back with a huge round 7, landing some big punches. A straight right buckled Yellope’s legs, but The Bear played it smart and started back peddaling and moving laterally, out of Ali’s way, limiting his chances to further hurt Yellope.

A good round 8 for both fighters, but you have to give it to Ali as he had a nice late flurry of punches that all landed, so while it was close, Ali finished strong.

Round 9 saw some very nice exchanged, but the Champ got the better of Yellope a little bit there and probably took this round. With 3 rounds left, this fight is too close to call. Yellope has to realize that, to use the old saying, to be the champ, you have to beat the champ. He cannot keep these rounds close and expect to get the nod from the judges, I don’t think. You are going to have to take it to Ali to beat him, and with only 3 rounds left, now is the time.

Early in round 10 Yellope threw a real lazy jab out there and Ali jumped at the chance to land a clean counter, and that he did. He ripped open a huge gash over Yellope’s right eye, causing the blood to spill into his eye and limiting his sight. Yellope though, didn’t lose his cool and just tried to cover up and avoid Ali and his killer instinct. Give the round to Ali though.

No action at all in round 11, and you have to give that kind of round to the champ. Plus, he probably did press the actiona bit more, for what there was.

Round 12, the final one, was another very slow round with little action. But the action that there actually was all come from Yellope’s end as he is trying to leave the judges with a good last impression. If that kind of thing wins a fight, then Yellope will be our new champ, as he easily outscored Ali in this 12th round.

We are ready to go to the cards!

Opening Bout

Mike Tokunaga vs. Frans Botha

Mike is a 5-2 favorite in this fight. Botha is coming into this fight with only a few weeks training due to the late notice of the fight. Tokunaga and his manager have been arguing a lot lately aver his career and it could have an affect on the fight.

A solid first round for Tokunaga and he needs it because he needs to come out of here, especiialy against a rusty fighter like Botha, with a victory.

Tokunaga lands a huge uppercut midway through round 2 and Botha drops to the canvas. It takes a 7 count before he gets to his feet. Tokunaga just doesn’t have that killer instinct to take him down for good in this round though.

Score another victory for Tokunaga in round 3. He landed a nice straight right which has caused a good swelling on Botha’s left eye.

Mike maintains control of this fight in round 4. He is not overwhelming his opponent, but doing enough work to win each round so far. Aright cross has caused swelling in Botha’s right eye now, and he is looking pretty bad right now.

Round 5 is still the same result: Tokunaga dominating Botha. At this point, Botha’s legs look awfully shaky. One mistake from Mike in this round though as he threw an unnecessary low blow and had a point taken away.

Mike knocks Botha down hard midway through the round, and this time he shows a good killer instinct, getting Botha in a corner and going to work on him until the ref finally stops this fight!

The winner by TKO at the 2:52 mark of Round 6 is Mike Tokunaga!

Preliminary Bout #1

Jace Hunter vs. Neuq Amrev

The odds are even on this fight. Both fighters look to be in outstanding shape for this fight.

Neuq started off pretty solid in this fight, but late in round 1, Hunter lands some solid jabs as well as a great combination that should end up giving him the first round.

Round 2 was dead even the whole way. Neither fighter threw many big punches until once again Hunter came in at the last 10 seconds and landed a massive right hook that shook Neuq and won the round for Hunter.

Hunter was very particular about his punches in round 3, but it worked out well for him as he landed about 90% of the punches he threw that round. Amrev just has no defense at all in this fight. Score another round for Hunter.

Neuq finally picks up his first round in the 4th, but only because Hunter didn’t throw many punches or score many points. It is not like Neuq doled out any real punishment.

The action slows down considerably in round 5. Both fighters landed a couple of power punches, but not much else was going on. Score this round even.

Round 6 is Neuq’s turn to steal a round with a late flurry. One straight right in particular did a lot of damage to Hunter, including cutting him wide open under his left eye. Score this round for Neuq, as well as him drawing first blood in the fight. Still halfway through the fight, Hunter has a decent sized lead in my opinion.

Credit Hunter’s corner with a great job in getting that cut to stop bleeding right away. Hunter showed no ill affects of that punch in round 7 as he reasserted himself in this fight and easily took the round, while also taking a lot of steam out of Amrev.

Neuq had Hunter in trouble in the 8th round, but just didn’t have enough in him to land that one punch that would have at least sent Hunter to the canvas. Still, a solid round for Neuq and he wins this one.

Neuq is the one who found himself in a world of trouble, and hurt, in round 9. He barely survives the round and might not have much left in him after that beating.

Round 10 was pretty ugly for Neuq. He went down early in the round and really struggled to get up. He looked drunk out there stumbling around but he did get up at the count of 9. Surprisingly, the ref let the fight continue, and Neuq got knocked down again right before the bell, but once again he got back up and to his corner for the rest in-between rounds.

Neuq lets it all hang out in Round 11, landing some nice shots and obviously trying to get the knockout, which he needs to win. However, in throwing all those punches he left himself wide open and got leveled again, going down for an 8 count before getting up and finishing the round.

Hunter is not satisfied with a decision victory and tries his hardest to knock Neuq out in the 12th and final round, but Neuq shows some heart and stays on his feet for the 3 minutes and lasts all 12 rounds. The judges decision is all academic at this point:

John Rupert scores the fight 117-111.
Victor Cervantes scores it 116-110.
Brian Garry scores it 118-109.

The winner, by unanimous decision, Jace Hunter!
