heh, his stock is already dropping. Suddenly it's a conditional 3rd rounder...

Hmmmm....

I don't know. Do we need another QB who hasn't played football in several years? I know he's gotta be better than Hutch (but who isn't?), but is he going to be the answer? Parcells isn't going to be around for that much longer (another two or three years at the most), so I think if we're going to go after a high priced QB, we need one that will be able to help us NOW.

exactly. unless they bring in Henson and a veteran, I don't really understand this at all.

I think you should stick with Quincy. Hes really good :)

I think I read that if they would sign Henson, they would dump Hutchinson and get a veteran backup, meaning it would likely end up being a 3rd round pick for Henson barring ridiculous injuries. Still, I'm surprised they're even considering this deal. Henson has all the physical tools of a high ranked QB, but I'd be very concerned with the intangibles. He obviously did not want to play football and only chose to do so due to his failure in baseball. How much passion does he have for the game? It just seems like a decision that seems to go against everything Parcells believes in.

Get him a decent running game and I think he'll do fine...

I'm guessing the Cowboys aren't sold on Quincy as the future of the team but don't see any vets worth giving up high drafts picks or large signing bonuses for. They'll probably ride Quincy out this year and bring in a cheap vet as backup insurance and maybe draft a rookie or Henson to build for the future in case Carter doesn't improve this year like he did last year.

Bah, get a good QB and they can open up and diversify the offense with or without a running game...

Heck, just get him one that doesn't trip over his own shadow.

Phillip Rivers. Supposedly the Cowboys are in love with him, though I doubt they would use their first round pick to grab him. If he falls to them in the second, they're all over him...

Yeah, I've read those rumors too. :) I just hope they're careful because they still have a lot of holes on the team, especially the offense. I hope they sign a veteran running back like Staley or Dillon and pick one pretty high. It hurts having the Patriots with the Ravens draft pick in front of the Cowboys because you just know they'll also be looking at running back first.

I guess I will be glad when we do get a decent QB.

I think QC is alright, but he is not the future.

As a die hard cowboy fan, would you like us to play in a super bowl with QC??

That really scares me to even think about it....

Granted, I didn't see much of Eli or Roethlilstheothelisisberger, but Phillip Rivers impressed the hell out of me the 3 or 4 times I watched him. His performance against FSU's defense - where he looked like a 10 year NFL vet anticipating blitzes and coverages and hitting the open guys play after play - was probably the top QB performance I saw in college football last year. Obviously, it might not translate to the NFL, but that guy's not only got a good arm, he appears to have the brains to be a successful QB in the NFL as well.

In other words...I'd hate to see him become a Cowboy! :p

:D LOL

Responding to the post above that, I wouldn't be afraid to see Quincy Carter in a Super Bowl. There have been players with as little fan respct as Carter win the big one before. I don't think Carter is going to the Hall of Fame but like Jeeber said above, I think people will be surprised if they ever get to see what he can do with a running game.

All they need is MeShawn Johnson, he is the missing piece.

Henson is a local boy from where I'm at, he is the proto-typical drop-back qb in the Troy Aikman mold. Size, mobility and smarts. The thinking here is he got side-tracked by the Yankee money and the Kirk Gibson story (All-American wide-out at MSU that went on to become a baseball legend). Many around here would swap Joey Harrington in a heart-beat for Henson. But he really hasn't played enough big-time (college or pro) football to see if he's soft or not. One year Michigan starter leaves alot of questions. Will be interesting. Cowboys may score bigtime.
