I'm not certain this has been covered here before in FOFC. I've ran a few searches, and didn't find it.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but a lot of our HT users don't come from FOFC. Instead, they filter in mostly through MPOGD (http://www.mpogd.com).
There is a poll there which seems crucial to the USA adding players each month. When we aren't listed on the poll, our new users for the month drop significantly.

Please go and vote. You can vote once a day. I encourage you to do so. It takes a second and you're done.

That said, I'd like to issue caution. We would really like hattrick to be one in the top 5 or so. We can't allow it to be #1, however.

This is extremely important for us. If HT becomes #1 in any given month, we will be ruled out of the poll for a year. We don't want that either.

HT is currently 10th. Please go vote.

To entice mpogers into other games. As was explained to me, if they didn't eliminate the top game each month, two games would essentially dominate, and HT wouldn't be one.

Think where we would currently be on the list IF they didn't. There are currently 12 games off the chart, so we'd be #21.

Well maybe not... but it does keep games from dominating the list.

Seems to me that if they don't want to make a complete mockery out of it, any game that actually rewards players for voting should be disqualified.

It has been awhile since I played them, but a lot of the turn based games offered you a bonus for voting.

HT would own the rankings if they included a link to it anywhere in hattrick.... Heh.

The amount of votes HT gets is outstanding for a game that relies 100% on people going to the site and voting on their own free will and thought.

Oddly enough, looking at that top 10 gives me the impression that somewhere in the ManagerZone forums there is a post saying "HT is in the top 10 at MPOGD, we better all go vote."

I don't know for sure. I didn't read their forums much when I played. I've just seen stuff like that between other sites, and them having that many votes seems like they were inspired by something.
