The South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Alex Marvez reports the Miami Dolphins are ready to offer OT John Tait (Chiefs) an offer sheet with an eight-figure signing bonus as part of a lucrative contract that team officials hope would scare Kansas City from matching. Tait has since left town to visit the Chicago Bears.

*Giggles* at the thought of a multi-millionaire offensive line protecting a two cent QB.

For once Miami is trying to make a deal that makes sense.

It doesn't look good. Its being reported that he has signed an offer sheet with the Bears. Miami loses out on another one. The situation is becoming critical for the Fins on the O line. Although we signed Jones today we have at least 2 spots to fill yet. Hopefully a decent player will get released in June.

The Bears were planning on using the their cap room to sign him to a front loaded contract that KC and any other interested team wouldn't be able to match.

I heard on SportsCenter that the Bears signed Tait to an offer sheet.

I guess Miami really knew what they were doing when they brought in Marino as a figurehead, only to have him quite and wind up with exactly the same front office they had before. I'm sure the loss of half their O-line, coupled with the Feeley signing will be just the ticket to the Superbowl.

Not getting Tait isn't a loss for Miami. They guy is OK, but he's a disappointment in my book. KC drafted him as a LT, but had to move him to RT so Trent Green wouldn't end up as a corpse. He doesn't have the eye of the tiger.
He's not horrible, but he can't play LT, which means there is no way he's worth the signing bonuses I'm hearing for this guy.
