OT: PS2 - Data from on-line?

I know I could find this out by researching products on-line, but I figured many people here have experience..

I just recently (finally) purchased a PS2 after having a cube for a couple of years.. I wanted to finally be able to play EA Sports games on-line...

So, I know there is a piece of hardware or something that you can get to download files from on-line... most importantly, to get updated rosters... What do I need? Are there options? Are certain brands better than others?

A network adapter(to get online) and either a "sharkport or Xport"(these are to save roster updates, etc).
