NEW YORK - George Steinbrenner, demon to some - hero to others, has decided that the Yankees empire needs to make its imprint on sports far beyond the reach of baseball. We imagine it went a little something like this..
Somewhere in the Bronx..
Brian Cashman: Uh, Boss. Yankees-Nets has dissolved, Ratner is gonna weasle out of the TV deal. You know what that means? Less money. What do we do?
The BOSS: RATNER?! Who the hell cares about Ratner?! Let him go to Brooklyn with that rapper and the arena that'll never get built. You know why they won't build it? Because I run this city. Get Bloomberg on the phone, now.
Brian Cashman:Consider it done, Boss.
The BOSS: YOU'RE FIRED!
Brian Cashman: Bu...Bu..Boss. All I said was, I'd get him on the --
The BOSS: I kid, I kid. Boy, I sure do love that Insult dog. He's really funny. Now scurry along and get me Bloomberg.
Meanwhile, the BOSS had an idea. He does that a lot. But sometimes, his thinking results in trading for A-Rod. Other times, Raul Mondesi. It's a hit or miss game. Anyway, the BOSS was thinking. The NFL = money = I would really be able to get my new stadium. Hmm...what NFL can I buy?
The BOSS: CASHMAN! What NFL team can I buy?
Brian Cashman: Boss, Mayor Bloomberg's secretary says he's out swimming in his money. He'll call you later. ::pauses:: NFL as in...football? ::gulp::
The BOSS: That's what I SAID! You thought getting A-Rod was your biggest deal ever? Find me an NFL team to buy!
Brian Cashman: But Boss, you'd have to buy them, move them and all that takes approval...and money.
The BOSS: Obviously agitated Look, I didn't ask you to tell me that. I told you to get me a football team to buy...or someone else will do it for me.
Brian Cashman: Consider it done, Boss.

The Boss is on the phone:
"Look, I'm tired of hearing all this shit about Manchester United. Glory, Glory...who the hell cares?! If we could bring the Yankees to football, maybe that will show people the boss doesn't play.
Brian Cashman: Uh, Boss?
The BOSS: This better be good news!
Brian Cashman: Sir, I have your team.
The BOSS: Good, you must really want to keep your job!
Brian Cashman: The problem is, the owner doesn't want to sell them.
The BOSS: Has that ever stopped us before?!
Brian Cashman: No sir, I've spoken to the league's commissioner and the team will be disbanded.
The BOSS: Whatever it takes! Get me a team! We have to start now!
Brian Cashman: Uh, the problem is...you have to stock the team with your own players. And you can't use ones in the NFL, at least not initally.
The BOSS: Get Henson on the phone. Tell him, I've still got his ass for $12 million and if he wants to play football, he'll do it for me.
Brian Cashman: But Boss, the Houston Texans technically own his rights.
The BOSS: If so, you don't have a job.
Brian Cashamn: Consider it done, Boss.

NEW YORK - The Yankee hater fan club just got bigger. Gone are the Cincinnati Bengals, who were expected to compete after an 8-8 season last year. Instead, Commissioner Paul Taglibue has announced the team has been disbanded and replaced with a third New York franchise - called the New York Yankees.
"We're thrilled to have an owner with a reputation like George Steinbrenner joining our ranks," said one NFL owner who refused to be named. The league's move was protested by a handful of Cincy fans and a throng of media who call the move "unfair" and "typical of the Yankees regime that thinks it can throw its dollars around," said David Brooks, a Cincinnati columnist.
Major League Baseball and the NFL both waived their rules on cross-league ownership to facilitate the purchase, as both thought the deal was "in their best interest," said baseball commissioner Bud Selig. That's translated into, "I'm a money grubbing prick who is more afraid of Steinbrenner than anyone. I'm not gonna cross him, I'll leave that to you people. If you dare."
As part of the arrangement, the Yankees don't have any NFL stars, stocking their roster with non-drafted free agents and walk-ons acquired from various free agent camps held around the country. The team did manage to acquire QB Drew Henson from the Houston Texans. Henson played baseball for the Yankees and said he's "thrilled to be playing QB for the Yanks NFL franchise."
"I can think of no better situation than to be playing QB as a Yankee," he said.

It's pretty simple. I'll be tracking the year that is for Henson in the NFL and how the Yanks do in the salary cap-restricted NFL.
Maybe we'll go on after a year. We shall see. I guess the goal is for The Boss to win the title, of course. But I dunno if I'll play long enough for that to happen.

YANKEES HIRE ROMEO CRENNEL
NEW YORK - The New York Yankees Football Club signed their first head coach in franchise history today, plucking Patriots Coordinator Romeo Crennel from New England.
Boston news media are furious. "First, they steal A-Rod, now they want Romeo?! What's next, Nomar?!"
Crennel said that "I'm glad to be part of the Yankee dynasty."

Check out the Yanks preseason stats and team roster, here (http://www.ishouldstudymore.net/Yankees.html)
With only two drafted players on their entire roster, former Heisman runner-up Brad Banks of Iowa, who was signed last week and already dubbed starting QB Drew Henson on the roster, one might presume the year will be a tough one for the Yankees.
But don't count George's Boys out yet. Defensively, the team will bring the pain. "We've scoured the country seeking out the best defensive players we could scout," said Assistant GM Dave Winfield, who despite never playing football, was drafted by an NFL Team (as well as an NBA and MLB one, the only player to do so)
On the offensive side, look to RB Ahmad Anthony to feature heavily in the Yankee offense. "He's got a lot of potential," said Coach Crennel.
What about the golden boy, Drew Henson? "I think Drew will surprise a lot of people," said Winfield. "He'd better or else the Boss won't stand for it."
Henson said he feels "no pressure whatsoever," about being the first QB in the history of the Yankees football franchise. Speaking of the franchise, the team intends to induct former Broncos great John Elway and former cornerback Deion Sanders into the Yankees Football Ring of Honor. "We're trying to establish something here and we believe John exemplfies that."
Elway was drafted by the Yanks as a baseball player, before hitting paydirt as an NFL star. Sanders, actually played for the Yanks baseball team for a brief while before making it big and the Boss said "he wanted to recognize Deion's accomplishments on and off the field." Also to be inducted is former two-sport star Bo Jackson. "He was awesome. We'd love to have made him a Yankee," said The BOSS, in an interview.
"Next thing you know, they'll go digging up bodies and making them Hall of Famers. This is incredulous!" said one NFL executive who refused to be named.
Many of the owners who have smiled about the BOSS publicly, but decry him privately, are saying they are secretly "hoping this team falls flat on its face," said one sportswriter, to make the Yankees rue the day they took on the NFL.
But will parity lose out to the Yankee empire? We shall see.

A note regarding the dynasty..per a question on another board
I turned off owner mode and used a custom team I had. I would've loved to have moved Cincy. That would've made more sense, but I didn't like that storyline as much. It was more fun to have the Boss just boot a team out of the NFL, even if its less plausible.
This whole dynasty is just a whim of an idea, so just bear with it. I'm much more apt to writing baseball dynasties. So, its experiemental...but it should hopefully be fun.
I created the team as one of the custom teams well before I decided to do this dynasty, so that's why some of the talent looks better than you'd expect. But, I would presume if you're going to fiat this happening, then the Boss would hardly do it unless he could get some talent. And I do believe that there is talent out there that has yet to be discovered. So...I dunno, their offense is lacking, so I wouldn't cry bloddy murder yet.
