Well it's that time of year again. I'm heading up to Boston tomorrow to see the Dropkick Murphys and the Ducky Boys. I will be catching them again on Sunday with the Kings of Nuthin'. Should be a blast. Just wondering if any other FOFCers will be going. 5 sold out shows in a row at the Avalon in boston this year... pretty crazy

I'm not quite sure where i'm crashing over the weekend, but if any kind FOFCer wants to lend me a couch i promise not to drink all your beer and befoul your pool table ;)

ok a bump and an update for Fritz and Cam and whoever else may care

The Murphys were pretty damn good as always. Though I thought the sunday evening show was sub-par by their standards. Granted it was their 5th show in 4 days. Tons of engery, awesome crowds, lots of beer flowing. It was a great time. One big rowdy party. Lots of fun

They played a bunch of their newer stuff off of "Blackout" at both shows and mixed in all the old favorites with some Surprises. "Regular Guy" off one of their early 7" releases for example. They covered AC/DC's "It's A Long Way To the Top" Thursday night and did a pretty good job with it.

The played for about an hour and fifteen minutes which is not nearly enough time to hear all the songs that you'd want to hear. Between myself and the girl i went with we rattled off about a dozen songs or so we wished they played. They did do a great job mixing up the set lists though. Everytime i've seen them they've played a totally different set.

Probably the crowning moment of the weekend was at the end of the Sunday show they rolled a big piano out on stage and said "This one is for Shane MacGowan" and went into "Fairytale of New York". They did an amazing job with it and the crowd was totally into it. The only thing better would have been if Shane-o himself had showed up.

All in all a great weekend. I'd suggest that everyone go pick up their live album or their DVD which they just put out. The DVD is like 14 bucks and the live album is probably a little cheaper. Great deals.

I agree that Swagger is a great album. One of my favorites. Flogging Molly is one of my favorite bands as well and they too put on one hell of a live show.
