Online Broker Suggestions

Anyone have any suggestions on what the best online broker is for buying stocks, etc? I'm not looking to buy a ton. Just looking to buy a few shares of "this", a few shares of "that". Put a little money into "that over there".

Well, it all depends.

I personally use E-Trade, but that was because basically, who Macromedia went through with our Employee Stock Program.

Avoid Ameritrade like the plague. i signed up with them a few years ago when they were offering like 20 free trades or some such (which I think they may be running again.) Anyway, long story short, they charge you for the trades up front, claim they will refund you for the charges, but then don't. To this day, they still owe me a couple hundred dollars. Obviously I have since taken my trading elsewhere.
