So tonight week 9 of the IHOF was simmed. As some of you have followed, my San Luis Obispo Burn are a stellar 0-7 despite posting a roster strength of 80+. Taking on cthomer5000's North Plainfield Plague, we were hoping for our first win of the season, when we were visited by this gem of a game...

Down 20-14 with just over 4 minutes left, Burn kicker Merlin Winkelman hits a field goal to bring SLO within 3...shortly thereafter, Burn Defensive Lineman Greg Lehr blocks a Plague punt to set up a Burn touchdown with a mere 1:04 left! Could the Burn be taking home their first victory?

After a holding penalty, the Plague faced 1st and 20 from their own 23 with 55 seconds left. Three incomplete passes later, it was 4th and 20 with 11 seconds left. The Burn were one play away...North Plainfield reduced to miracle hopes...and apparently God is a North Plainfield fan. 77 yards later, Conti to Cummings for a touchdown with 1 second remaining on the clock...27-24 North Plainfield.

Disheartened, and now 0-8, I turn to the CFBL, my OOTP league in which my Phillies face Alan T's Arizona Diamondbacks in the divisional playoffs tonight. After winning the first game 9-7 in extra innings, we proceed to drop three straight and be the first team eliminated from the playoffs.

Not a great sports night here in Isla Vista :(

Should I not ask about hattrick?

One of my best defenders got a Red Card in a meaningless game. I did win, though.

Sorry Vince.. hated doing that to ya :(

I am ashamed to say that I did not do an export the entire season after the first two weeks because of being out of town RL most of the time...

Your series was actually my first export in about two months.. I wanted to give you some competition at least so it wouldn't be a cake walk for ya..

Not to worry my friend...I would be disappointed if it was any other way.

It was indeed a miracle ending. I have no illusions about the quality of my team. We're by no means dominant, could easily be 0-7 or 7-0 at this point (we've only won 1 game convincingly, everything else has been incredibly close), and definitely got very lucky.

Vince's weak cornerbacks just killed him down the stretch thoguh. Aside from the miracle winning play, we had another 70+ yard touchdown pass early in the 4th quarter.

You'll see, in weeks 16 and 17, San Luis Obispo Burn has two upset victories to edge past the Merchantmen and fail to draft #1 overall...
