I was wondering if anyone here has done any political autograph collecting and, if so, if you've had much success? It's something which interests me but I can't find a lot of information on it online. Having collecting sports autographs for such a long time, I'm interesting in trying to nab some political 'graphs but can't find much information on Google.

I hear that there's a couple of Bill Clinton autographed big undies floating around on EBay from time to time.

Interesting thread topic.

Here's a pretty cool site that I took a look at awhile back that might be of interest to you:

My mother was a young republican during the reelection of Richard Nixon. She has a framed letter signed from him thanking her for all her help and work. That and she still has some Nixonette now buttons...always interesting stuff.

My mother has a Clinton/Gore campaign poster from the election against George Bush Sr. She got it while visiting Hotlanta with my aunt. The Poster is signed by Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, and Tipper Gore. She also has pictures of them as she moved down the line towards her at this rally.

I wonder what kind of value that would

Sorry, but I find political autograph collecting disgusting. These are politicians, not celebrities. Treating them like celebrities is bad for democracy.

I have Reagan's autograph. Sort of. LOL He signed an award I got in the 80's.

I think "disgusting" is a very strong word. I'm looking to collecting political autographs because these are very influential people who shape the world we live in. I am very interesting in politics and felt this would be an interesting twist on the autograph search. I don't think hunting for autographs is "treating them like celebrities," nor is it bad for democracy.

I thought autographs were about "famous" people, not celebrities.

*bump*

Ok well since there doesn't seem to be much interest in collecting political autographs here, how about good old sports autographs? I used to collect quite a bit when I was little and am just now getting back into it, mostly trying to create my own custom index cards and mailing them out just for the fun of trying to get anything back. Anybody else still collecting sports autographs through the mail and such?

I still own a Bob Gibson photo I got signed when i was a kid. I don't even watch baseball anymore but I still think Gibson is one of the baddest pro athletes ever to play. LOL I'll keep that autograph until I die.
