Geez, they could sleepwalk to 5 wins here. If they actually play the games, I don't see how they're not going to a bowl game this year. I'm a little surprised at the incredibly weak scheduling... I guess Schiano is trying to make sure he keeps his job long enough to get them ready to play a real schedule again. :)

I don't see how they aren't going at least 4-1 with that OOC slate. As far as it being weak, you have to take into consideration that they didn't have much notice to replace Miami and Virginia Tech and had to pick up Kent State and New Hampshire. If we can stay relatively healthy all year long, we can possibly win the Big East.

Anything worse than 7-4 will be a dissapointment in my eyes. Hoping for 8-3.

Thank you for making me laugh on an otherwise boring evening. I've been at Pitt for 4 years now, and I don't remember Rutgers showing up for any of those 4 games. Pitt and/or (and it pains me to say this) WVU have the Big East locked up for at least the next 3 to 4 years, with a chance for UConn to possibly rise to the top.

You know nothing about Rutgers football because, if you did, you would know that when Terry Shea was in charge, he wasn't bringing in Division 1 caliber talent, let alone Big East caliber talent, with a few exceptions. LJ Smith came to the Banks because he was a prop 48. Who knows how he got Mike McMahon to come here. Gary Brackett and Shaun O'Hara both are in the NFL, but they were walkons.

Rutgers should have been 7-5 last year, if they hadn't choked away the B.C. and UConn games. This year, the players will know how to finish those games off.

Notice how many non Seniors are on the 2 deep. I didn't even put any of the incoming recruits, who will make a push for playing time, on the depth chart. Personally I like some of the Pitt fans I've talked to, but a few bad apples spoil the bunch.

You will fall before the Mike Price led Miners in El Paso!

Or probably not...

Personally I like some of the Pitt fans I've talked to, but a few bad apples spoil the bunch.

First off and firstly, it was intended as elbow-to-chest good natured ribbing. As a semi-faithful away game traveler, I hate nothing more than home team fans that go beyond good natured joking and cross into some type of alcohol induced psychotic rage, and if my post read like that, it falls on me. At the very least, I could only be really obscene towards those teams which are running away from our conference, and not the teams honorable enough to stay. Please reinspect the apple patch and you'll find no malice.

You know nothing about Rutgers football

Guilty as charged. Looking through the depth chart, I only recognize a handful of names, and those are basically only the skill players which I recognize from the PA announcer repeating their names for a whole game. Other than the 4 games with Pitt, I've only seen a handful of regional Big East games with Rutgers; however limited the sample, I really haven't seen anything on the field that leads me to a Rutgers bowl birth. More competitive? Yes. Big East Title? Eh, I'm gonna stick with no. Syracuse and BC look down to me next year, UConn I know little about other than they have been steadily improving each of the past few seasons as far as performance on the field and recruiting, Pitt and WVU seem to have the top returning talent (despite several key player losses for each), and "Rutgers will be Rutgers" as they say. Pitt has many non-seniors vying for starting positions, especially an intriguing QB battle between two homegrown PA stud RS Soph QB's. Our schedule is extremely soft, with home dates against perennial powerhouses Ohio Bobcats and a DII school I've never heard of named Furman (and I still think the departing schools should have to compensate the remaining schools for having to fill their schedules at the last minute with Furmans and New Hampshires), although I'd rather play a more difficult schedule and see some quality opponents come to town, even if it resulted in an extra loss or two (at least to me, I leave just as empty after a 56-3 victory over DII Furman as I would after a loss to Florida State).

That was quite scattered. Where was I? Oh yes, I remember. All sports have a team going through a streak of less than successfullness. Everyone in the NFL laughs at the Cardinals. All of MLB can't help but chuckle at the Pirates and Devil Rays. The Penguins lost 46 consecutive games at one point this season I think. With Temple booted out, the Big East just has Rutgers left.

And if it makes you feel any better, Pitt was at the bottom of both football and basketball not 5 years ago. It makes it that much sweeter when you finally take your turn at the top. Just not yet, Rutgers :p

Well, don't say you weren't warned.
