Breakaway League Announced
Glasgow, Scotland-- A break away league was announced today. After months of intense negotiations the FA’s of Holland, Portugal, Scotland, Belgium, Denmark, and Sweden have come together to create the Atlantic League. They will create a new league that will consist of a Premier League along with a 1st 2nd and 3rd division. Despite UEFA’s objections and threat to remove the clubs from European competitions, the clubs would not back down due to frustration over TV revenues as well as the lack of competition for top teams and what they saw as lack of respect for top teams. Celtic and Rangers along with Ajax, and PSV led the charge citing lack of competition in their respective leagues. In the end UEFA backed down and fully sanctioned the league. The Club’s that will make up the Atlantic League are rumored to have already been selected but will be announced at a later date.
OOC: This was not my idea but I liked it I got it from an SI board and DL'ed it from this site Atlantic League (http://www.atlanticleague.cjb.net) . I'm not sure if this will work years into the future but I hope so. Anyway all credit belongs to them. I am running all 4 Scottish Leagues (replaced by AL), EPL,div 1. Argentine and Brazil prem's. Serie A, B, La Liga and div 1, Greece, Germany France prem's. Sorry, Chief Rum if I ruin your format.

New League, New Coach
Copenhagen, Denmark-- Along with new league FC Copenhagen has a new coach. The new coach, American, James Lipton, 31, was noticed and ultimately hired after Copenhagen allowed some collegiate friendlies to be played in their stadium. Coach Lipton brought his team from Washington state in their summer break to the summer tournament. "I'm in total shock. In a million years I wouldn't have dreamed of this. To be able to coach a premiership side in such a new, competitive, prestigious league is just amazing. I have to thank the board at Copenhagen”. The move to hire Lipton came after the previous coach was fired after getting into a row over the funds allowed for transfer. He was infuriated that his job to keep the squad in the premier league but given only 6 million out 47 million in the bank. “I’m very happy with the six million allotted I hope we stay up. I think we can. I’m looking forward to meeting with more of the players to get a real feel for how we’ll do.” Lipton said. Some Copenhagen supporters were not happy with the new hire wanting some one more experienced for the job. Lipton, did nothing to aleviate those fears as it came out he was not aware that the new AL kept the Portugese rule of Brazilians not needing WP's to play. This worried them as they believe that they can, due to the new prestige the league has, swoop up young brazilians on the cheap to keep afloat in the premiership. A press conference with Coach Lipton to officially announce his hiring is scheduled for later in the week.

Press conference
“Well I guess I’ll start by introducing myself. I am James Lipton the new coach of FC Copenhagen. I’m honored to be here today sitting beside our chairman Mr. Ostergard the director of Football Mr. Holmstrom and our managing director Mr. Gilstrup. So I guess with that out of the way I’ll open it up for some of your questions.”
Steffen Pederson, Copenhagen Post: “Now that you’ve been here a few days how do you like it here? Do you think you’ll have a hard time adjusting?
“I do like it here. The board has been great in helping me adjust so far, and have gotten an apartment. It will be interesting adjusting, maybe not difficult so much, but I am very excited.
Steffen Pederson: “Have you had more of a chance to look at the squad and what do you expect from them? Do you think you will be able to keep them in the premiership?
“I have been able to look over the squad. And I am very happy. I don’t see us going down this season…” Lipton
“Sorry to interrupt, but isn’t it your job to say that?” Pederson
“I suppose so yes. But I’m honest with that assessment. This is a very solid side with no great weakness but also no great super star just some very solid players.” Lipton
Lars Frostholm, Tassstrup Avis: “My question is for director of Football Mr. Holmstrom. Was hiring Coach Lipton an easy or hard sell to the other members of the FC leadership?”
“It was difficult at first since none of them knew of him. But once we met with him and also saw the discipline of his squad it made the decision very easy. Also correctly or not we were never expected to do much so there is not much pressure. We believe though that James will be a great leader and do not only us proud but will not let down the Denmark FA as FC is the only Dane Premiership side” Holmstrom
Peter Moller, Borsen: “It seem’s like a lot of pressure has been placed on you? How will you handle that? Especially, considering you early fixtures?
“I don’t know how I’ll handle it to be honest. I just hope we do well. Obviously drawing the two teams expected to win the league Ajax and Porto in that order to be our first two competitive matches is not the best draw but that’s what we got and we’ll deal with it”
Steffen Pederson: “What do you plan on doing with the some 7M euro’s you’ve been given? And is there any truth to the rumor that you have launched a bid for Auxerre youngster Mexes the great central defender is this an attempt to get that deal done before bigger clubs launch a bid? Do you think he would play in Denmark? And what other bids have you made or are looking to make?
“Wow, news travels fast around here. We have made a bid I won’t get into specific numbers. Will he play in Denmark? I hope so; I hope the other bigger clubs won’t romace him away. But I think with the reputation the new league has it’s as big as the EPL or Serie A so I don’t see why not. As for any other bids I won’t get into that for fear it might complicate things. Thank you all for coming if you’ll excuse me I’ve got a friendly coming up in a few days”
Peter Moller: One more quick question. What type of team will you run what types of formation will you run?
“I like an attacking side sitting back on defense and then run the counter attack is not my football. As for formations most likely a simple 4-4-2 the wingers making forward runs. Thank you all for coming.”
