Have any of you managed to hit homers with a left-handed hitter in any significant quantities?

I mean, like, more than one or two total?

I'm finding that lefties just "dinnae seem to have the power" when it comes to hitting them out. Every lefty I've faced in the Home Run Showdown has failed to hit more than one out, which means I get beat by a bunch of singles and doubles.

In my Dynasty, Juan Encarnacion has 12 HRs in 7 games, while Green has a bunch of meek popups.

Anybody else seeing these kind of deranged splits?

I believe this is a known issue (at least according to the EA boards) and will likely be addressed in a patch (I dont know anything about XBox Live so would you be able to patch the game that way? I have no idea, but the EA boards made it sound like EA was aware of the problem).

I haven't played the game in a week, but AAAUUUUGGGHHH! I was enjoying MVP a ton until this. I play as the Cardinals, and now I'm afraid that Jim Edmonds will never hit a home run. Ughie.

Ive noticed it but who really plays every single one of your games. The end stats will be close to correct if they still hit HR's in simmed games. I know that it is more fun to hit them yourself but I dont see this as the end of the world.

Can the game be patched with the Action Replay?

mtaystl03,

Yeah, but there's also a problem with rookies not developing. At all. So if you're simming all your games, about 3 or 4 seasons down the road when your vets start retiring, you're going to be utterly screwed.

So, y'know, it may not be the end of the world, but it's another symptom of shoddy coding.

Really? I seem to be hitting a decent amount with Jim Thome. Perhaps, not on pace for 50 if I played every game, but I don't and I've hit at least 3 of his 12 homers a quarter of the way into the season. (I only play about a fourth of my games and manage the rest.) He is actually the only one I have been able to hit homers with except for one from Pat Burrell

Eagles, from what I understand, about the only way to hit homers with a lefty is to wheel on a high, inside fastball, or stuff on the inner half of the plate. They won't go the opposite way or to straightaway center at all.

And even the homers they DO pull will barely clear the wall.

It also holds true for the computer - pitch Bonds away, and even if he lights you up with doubles, he's still much less dangerous overall. It's definitely disappointing.

As much as I enjoyed the game (I even bought an Action Replay just for this game's rosters), I'm tempted to trade this in to EB as soon as ESPN Baseball is out. :(

Now that you mention it, every one of Thome's homers have been on high inside fastball :( That definitely is a detriment (along with the lack of minor league development) I hadn't bought a console baseball game for over 4 years and I'm starting to wish I hadn't started again :(

It's a fun 2-player game, but the dynasty part of the game is starting to bore me. I'm glad ootp6 is coming out soon. :)

I enjoy the game but all of these concerns are bothersome. I am going to wait to see the initial response to ESPN Baseball before jumping to any conclusions.

As for the power problems, how much would it help to move the sliders to give yourself more power? I've noticed the problem is just getting lift on the ball. Im hitting some seeds into the gap but they aren't high enough to ever get out.
