As usual I did not create this puzzle. I mearly repeating it for your enjoyment.
The puzzle is to come up with the worst possible hand you can have on the river in Hold 'Em and still have the absolute nuts when no flush is possible. Please list your hole cards and the five cards on the board.
I only saw a discussion of the puzzle rather than the puzzle itself, so I hope I described it well enough. As usual if you have seen this puzzle before please give people who haven't seen it a chance to answer.

7 high?
Actually to win you'd have to have 8 high...

dola if the flop was 2,3,4,5,7 you could hold an 8 to split. 9 is the lowest absolute best...

7 high?
I think a hand of 7 high is impossible in Hold 'Em on the river. It isn't possible to get 5 more cards on the board lower than a 7 without making atleast a pair or better.

Incorrect. :) There is a worse hand you can make than that and still have the nuts.

you have pocket J's
The board is:
A 3 6 8 J
where the board is rainbow.

Pocket Jacks wouldn't be the nuts for that hand. Pocket A's would. :)

I'm not understanding the question. Wouldn't someone with any pair there prevent you from having the absolute nuts?

Doesn't work. Pocket Rockets will beat you

There is still a worse hand than that.

A pocket 4 5 is the nuts on that board.

Ok Simpler one.
What is The BEST hand one can have in Texas Hold Em, and STILL not have the absolute nuts. Same thing, post board and pocket cards, and what beats you ;)

good. My original hunch is at least correct. I thought trips would be the worst possible nut hand.

Board is TJQK suited, You hold 9 suited.
If it's no flushes again, then you hold AA, board is AKKQJ.
dixie's answer is the best I had come up with too. QQ on his board should be the worst.
EDIT - thread is going too fast for me. i just watch now :)

The hand I posted gives you a better non-nut hand.
