I miss being able to reliable draft superstar caliber linebackers and cornerbacks, year after year, in the seventh round of the draft. I miss knowing, with dead-on certainty, how well every rookie player will turn out.

I loved FOF2 when it came out... but I fail to understand the attraction any longer.

Until TCY 2 comes out, I'll have to say FOF 2004.

Multiplayer wins it all => FOF2k4

TCY is #2

I loved FOF2 when it came out... but I fail to understand the attraction any longer.Yes, and you could also have added "I miss the Post-season injury bug", and "I miss not being able to see the upcoming rookie class before free Agency begins" and on and on...being sarcastic is useless.

FOF2 being released in 1999...you can critizice it all you want. FOF2004 has, of course, much more to offer in terms of functionnalities and all than previous version. It's not even an issue it is a matter of facts. FOF2 can't compare on this level.

However, don't you sometimes take a look back at things you used to do in the past and you remember how cool it was and when you "touch" it again it makes you feel good and say "wow I wish i'd feel as good with my current toy" ? -apparently not- but for me, this is the experience I have with FOF2, each time I launch this game, I feel good about it, overall.

the "whole" FOF2 experience and in that I can include, the look of this game, the way the menus are set, the way I can reach all the -valuable- datas all in one click, not even mentionning the joy of keeping up with dynasties that I started 4 to 5 years ago (!) etc..this "tiny game" (compared to FOF2004 now for instance) represents -at least for me and I don't ask that you share my point of view obviously- the essential of the FOF Experience for a solo player.

being sarcastic is useless.

Yet, you keep coming back to this forum, again and again. You know, that tactic does tend to pop up around here from time to time.

I understand your point, of course.

I'm suprised that there are not more TCY votes. Were it not for FOF2K4, I suspect that TCY would lead by as just about as wide of a margin as FOF2K4.

I really love the MP of FOF 2004, but the only thing that will top TCY is TCY 2.

I voted for FOF2001, viewing this as a sort of "at the time of it's release" question. FOF2001 basically blew my mind, and I'm forever grateful for it. I came in just after FOF2 (I actually played the FOF2 demo, then found out it was no longer available - but FOF2001 was).

If we're comparing them at the moment, it's without question FOF2004.

I voted for TCY. It has never come off my harddrive and I love college football more than any other sport. I don't think it is better than FOF 5 with the multiplayer but it is just as good for me.

I voted FOF2k4, but I consider FPS Football '97 a text sim, considering all I did was call plays and let the computer run them.

FPS '97 is still probably my all time favorite football game, but I will say FOF2k4 is closing in very fast. :)

I'm not sure I understood the sentence. But I hope it's nothing personal.
I don't mean to insult you by claiming out loud that I love this old game.

TCY here. I used to get so entrenched in that game. One time I got off to a great start with Stanford only to lose a heartbreaker against BYU. Well, like it sometimes happens with my temper, I slammed my right fist down upon my desk as soon as the clock ran out on us.

What happened? I got kicked to the dreaded fatal blue screen. And oh yeah, I hadn't saved my game for awhile.

I think QS was trying to say that sarcasm is used as a ploy around here pretty often and that he was trying to use it rather harmlessly.

You would probably get a different result for TPF if you did a poll on their boards instead of FOFC. Just my opinion. FOF still might win but I'm sure you would see alot more balanced voting.

I voted TCY as I mentioned above because I like college football games better for some reason for dynasty mode / career building.

I like pro football better to watch and follow for real though.

With that being said, I like all football except the CFL. I even have caught myself watching the damn arena league. I'm also getting into the World League more because its turning out to be the minor leagues.....

Well, at least, it got me here ! I tried Football Mogul and it sucked so bad I looked for other football games and in the mogul forum someone mentionned FOF and more importantly the FOFC forum, and some year and half later, I'm still here... :)

Interesting thought. I was just thinking this morning that once I get Savannah State up to 100 Prestige and Final Fours and NCAA titles become fairly common, I'll probably be done with that game. Same thing for me with TCY. I think overall, college games feel to me like an old adventure game that I've "solved", once I have gone from being one of the worst teams, to the top of the heap. Because college careers are shorter, and because strengths of schedule are so different, stats and records are less meaningful as well. In a pro game, even if I reach that "win-every-year" stage, at least watching long-term player careers, their stats, and watching them approach records is fun. With a powerhouse college team, approaching career records is almost impossible, because it becomes extremely rare for a freshman to get significant playing time. I've come to realize that for unlimited replay, pro games are for me. That being said, I definitely have enjoyed and gotten more than my money's worth from CAD, TCY and FBCB.

Yep that sums it up for me. I enjoyed taking Camden from the solesmic 8 in TCY and making them a power. NJ based schools. I'm having a blast playing Rutgers in FBCB as an independent and working my way up the ladder.

Football mogul was my first text sim as well. Before I bought the origional FOF on ebay, I went to a media play and found FBM. I played it until my FOFs (bought 2 for some reason) came.

I never played FBM again.

You know, if I was better than 0-11, I might have picked FOF2004 ;)

In all seriousness though, it was a tremendously difficult choice to pick between TCY and FOF2004. Both are amazing games in my opinion. TCY is what got me started here and in the text sim genre completely, though...so that's what gave it the nod.
