I would expect Grace Park or Karrie Webb to be the front runners tomorrow.

oh, and if michelle wins, what will all the critics be saying about her playing against her own age group and such. heh its obvious she should be playing with the LPGA, and not highschool golf.

I really hope she wins, to silence her critics and to further solidify her place as a player on the women's circuit. Doesn't she still get an exemption of some sort for winning a major? Or will it be like Ty Tryon when he got his tour card before he turned 18? I wonder.

she's so good. How old is she 15, 16 years old? That's crazy....

I thought she was only 13 or 14?

Dola - I googled her (this were a lot of sites dedicated to her) and she was born 10/11/89 making her 14 years old (and already over 6 feet tall!)

Wie is two back on the 5th hole. Aree Song, the 17-year old rookie is actually leading the tournament. I was reading her bio and apparently, she got an exemption from the LPGA tour commissioner to go pro last August.

Of course, she wasn't as good as Michelle is at 14. How long before they let Michelle go pro? I mean, her dad is just a college professor, yet he seems to have limitless cash to fly her to all these tournaments where she waxes people left and right, plays into the money, but can't take any home.

Maybe he just invested well? Or are they getting kickbacks on the side that people are turning a blind eye to?

I would be shocked if she was allowed to turn pro before 18. I don't think that the LPGA should change the rules for anyone, regardless of how good they are.

Well, like I said before. The girl leading this tournament - Aree Song - received an exemption to go pro before she was 18 last August. She earned her card at LPGA Q-school.

So the precedent is already set. She's 17 [Song won't be 18 until May] and has a two stroke lead in her fourth tournament as a pro.

Michelle fell to even on the day, she's tied for fourth. Wie is 14 and is heading for her second Top 10 finish (albeit at the same tournament) but its a major. They can't hold her down forever. Just ask Freddie Adu. 'course, the LPGA isn't as in bad shape as MLS.

Any kind of exemption is a bad thing.

The age restrictions are there for a reason, and the commish is a moron for setting a precedent.

Even if Michelle does end up getting an exemption, I would think she is at least 3 years away from it, and I doubt she will turn pro until she is in her 20's (as I hear she wants to play for Stanford)

I agree. Arbitrary restrictions on allowing otherwise qualified people to benefit from their talent are a valuable thing. After all, the LPGA should get higher ratings and the sponsors should continue to benefit from arguably the best thing to happen to golf since Tiger.

great tourney, not over yet but michelle is done. finished at -7. AT 14! amazing. looks like grace park has it locked up tho unless she screws up and then karrie webb is a shot back

yeah, Grace Park sounded real confident yesterday. She was down for a while today, but I guess she wanted it. Still, a great tournament and a heck of job for Michelle outdoing herself from last year at this major.
