I don't think this has been posted yet. Markus put up a few new screenshots to cause further salivation.

Note - Those are JPGs, because of the compression they look a bit worse than the actual game http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/images/smilies/smile.gif Also, THE GAME DOES NOT INCLUDE REAL PLAYER NAMES AND PHOTOS! Those are just pictures taken from my personal league.

I suppose doing it that way would've made it easier. :)

Lazy clickers...

Markus -

Not to nitpick, but Iowa State shut down their baseball program between the 2001 and 2002 seasons, so their competition level should probably be listed as Somewhat Easy, being an intramural league and all. :D

My guess is that the college/high school list is probably something that you can edit.

My guess is that the college/high school list is probably something that you can edit. That's getting into what I consider shaky ground. To me, it fits in the same category with Madden-type "sliders." When I see these, I think, "the development team decided not to tighten the screws and finish the game, but to let the gaming community figure out what needs to be changed." This is a much less significant thing than, for example, if we have to change those percentages for prospects generated to make the game work properly. Still, this is something that should be taken care of by Markus, not by gamers.

I emboldened what I think the key element is. I don't want the OOTP team taking the time to ensure that their college and high school list is 100% accurate, especially with the number of high schools and universities and community colleges that field baseball teams. I'd rather they focus on prospect creation being valuable and stable, and add features such as a selectable era migration that can be turned off or turned on at the beginning of a career. Such an option would allow you to choose to have the game migrate eras where there will be periods with pitching dominance, hitting dominance, etc.

Huck:

I agree with regards to this specific case, but my point was more general (and a concern that I have about OOTP having SO many new "slider" type features).

Understood then. I happen to disagree but I see where you're coming from. I like to have the ability to change settings by degree. The developer can still set the default settings to what they feel is the most realistic simulation setting.

But... what about for fictional leagues?

For my league, the Canadian Baseball League, I wouldn't mind having them appear as Canadian high schools/universities. I know there is a online league that's based on Japanese players as well. Or people who want to make their league have a smaller regional feel to it...

From my lips to Markus' ear: please fix the merchandising bug that buries small market teams!

Signing bonuses on the draft screen prompted this thought. It's bad enough trying to compete in an online league in a small market as is, but when you get the same merchandising revenue whether your fan support is 0 or 100, this is the kind of addition that will further bury small revenue teams.

I like the signing bonuses -- it's a nice real-life feature. But I want my t-shirt money! :)

The Merch Revenue is such bullshit.
